"Bitches behold, I'm 'ere." Said a youthful, arrogant voice as the doors leading into the lobby were all but thrown open, a silhouette sauntering up to the receptionist. White overcoat, Red jacket, black pants and a straw-hat. It was a figure the receptionist had most definitely never seen in her life, yet its owner walked up towards her with all the confidence of a movie star walking over the red carpet. Doug did not even bother with giving the lush interior of the lobby so much as a first impression glance, seemingly having eyes sorely for the receptionists, the boy leaning over the counter as he reached up and cheekily rang the bell twice. "Gym Challenge." He informed her, cutting straight to the chase. The receptionist seemed put off by the boy's... entire demeanor, but started to tell him where he could find the gym regardless. The boy was walking up to the doors before she so much as finished, throwing the doors wide open and taking two steps inside before interlacing all of his fingers together and stretching them soundly, every single air pocket going off smoothly. "All right then. What do we have here?" He said as he looked down the small corridor towards the multiple doors. [/ul][/div]

BATTLE 1. LUCAS Whichever door the boy had decided to pick, he would have to face one trainer waiting for him inside. Said trainer made sure not to make it look like he had gotten here in a rush, since this guy was a walk in and usually he'd have more time to prepare. Oh well, this was actually going to be his first battle as an official trainer, so he was pretty excited. Not that he was going to win, though. He didn't want to shut down this poor sap so quickly, unless he was that much of a weakling. Anyway, who was he facing? A rather young boy, it seemed. He had a hat that those typical bug catchers always wore-- Oh. So that's how it's going to play, huh? "Good day, small fry." he greeted with one of his hands raised. "I'll be your first opponent. You kind of came here unannounced so I'll breeze through the rules. Basically it's going to be a one versus one and if you beat me, you get to pick either of the doors behind me, which will lead you to another battle. Keep going until you reach the end, and then you can challenge the leader. Simple enough, yes?"His fingers lightly brushed the sole Poke Ball attached to his belt. He was the gatekeeper, and he wasn't going to just let any guy saunter in here without a good fight. "Alright, let's begin. Come on out, Smoochum!" he threw the Poke Ball into the air, releasing a small, adorable figure onto the stage. She let out a happy cry, "(Hello!! Are you going to play with me?)"

Hoo-iey. Doug hummed in response, raising his hand back in salute amicably. He didn't appreciate the small-fry comment, but he supposed he had it coming, what with not having a single badge to his name and all. Well, not one that the guy across from him knew of anyways. "Sounds good to me." He said, lifting the hem of his overcoat to pick a single Net Ball off his belt. A click later, and the tiny sphere grew to baseball size, before being thrown into the field. Light was released from the device, swiftly taking shape into the flying form of a bug pokemon. Four arms, yellow underbelly, red chitin carapace spotted with black dots, and a curious but determined expression on its features. The Ledyba brought all four of its fists together and then crowed proudly, flying around its trainer before coming to hover in front of him. Ledyba held out its fist towards the Smoochum, before beating its own 'chest' twice and putting up its mitts. A one on one duel! Just liked it liked it! Games? Sadly not! "Let's test the waters." Said Doug, readjusting his straw hat before swinging out his arm towards the tiny Smoochum. "Ledyba, use Swift!" Ledyba nodded, gesturing wildly with its arms, energy gathering at the tip of its fists before it bellowed with a battle cry, swinging its arms out in a barrage of fists. Stars of energy sailed towards the tiny Smoochum rapidly, threatening to smack her silly. LedybaType Bug/Flying Level 12, Gender male Ability Early Bird MoveSet

BATTLE 1. LUCAS Ledyba. Yep, Lucas called it, his team was probably swarming with bug type Pokemon, which so happened to be one of the Psychic type's weakenesses. Well, if he was thinking he could storm this gym with a type advantage, he had another thing coming! Or so he hoped. Either way, while the young man's pride was on the line, he already resolved it in his mind that a loss wouldn't be too terrible here. Besides, this small Smoochum was still a bit inexperienced; she wasn't part of his personal team. "Smoochum, freeze those stars with Powder Snow!" the small ice type nodded and sent out a very light blizzard, enough to freeze most of the oncoming attack, but she wasn't able to hold the attack long enough for her to stop all of them. As a result, some of the stars managed to hit her pretty hard, sending her tumbling back a couple of paces while letting out a pained yelp. When she sat back up, there were tears in her eyes as she started to bawl noisily. "(That hurt! You meanie!)" Uh oh, this didn't look good. "Smoochum, use Sweet Kiss!""(No way, the meanie hurt me!)" she clearly looked distraught as she ran up to the Ledyba and released a slightly more powerful flurry of snow from her mouth.
Battle log: - Lucas sent out Smoochum! - Doug sent out Ledyba! - Ledyba used Swift! - Smoochum used Powder Snow to block the previous attack! - Smoochum got hit by some leftover stars! - Smoochum disobeyed orders and used Powder Snow!

Hoo-iey. The type advantage hadn't really been the first thing on his mind when he chose the closest gym available, but hey; happy accidents and all that. First blood, -so to speak, he hoped no actual blood was drawn in this tangle, that Smoochum looked too cute for that- went to Ledyba, and the Smoochum did not look too happy about that. Sweet kiss was a problematic move that made your pokemon be dumb and smack their face against walls contantly. He had little desire to deal with that. But first...! "Ledyba, use Light Screen!" ordered the boy as the Smoochum unleashed another blizzard on Ledyba, the bug swiftly crossing both arms in front of itself before summoning a rectangular barrier between it and the attack. The blizzard slammed against it, pushing it back as the Ledyba fought to hold it in place. It seemed like it was doing a good job, but ultimately, it cracked, some of the ice bypassing it and hitting the Flying Bug. It flew back, hugging itself while trembling, some small frostbite biting at its limbs. Oooh, Ice and cold were not it's forte. "You'll get through it, Ledyba! Use Safeguard!" He ordered, prompting the Ledyba to quickly shake its head and nod, its body still trembling slightly. A sudden halo of white light was summoned around the Ledyba, before the insect waved its arms, sending it pulsing outwards, a protectiva aura seemingly washing over it and the rest of Doug's Net balls. BATTLE 1. LUCAS Smoochum was only made more infuriated by the fact that her opponent was able to block most of her attack. She considered using another Powder Snow, but her trainer was being adamant about trying something else, and she decided to calm down a little and listen to him. Lucas knew that Powder Snow was now less effective against that Light Screen until they could either break it (which was difficult) or wait it out (which was also quite difficult). It was even more problematic that he activated Safeguard as well, so Sweet Kiss was not going to be effective until that wore off too. He decided then that it would be better to try using Smoochum's other attacks in her arsenal, even if physical attacks weren't her strong suit. "Get in close and use Pound!"The small Pokemon obeyed and ran up closer to the Ledyba, jumping as far as she could muster and readying her tiny hand to smack the living daylights out of her opponent. At this point, her appendage started to glow white, powering up for a good slap to the face. "(Take this!)"

Hoo-iey. Though Ledyba was the master of the Light screen, it appeared he had little understanding of how his technique worked. Because he did not move as t the light Screen failed to do jack to stop the Smoochum's blow, its eyes widening as the tiny pokemon phased right through the barrier just in time to get slapped across the face, sent sailing down bouncing off the floor. Doug's response was crack up, snorting soundly as his pokemon landed in front of him. Ledyba's eyes centered on his face, glaring at him. "What? You just got bitchslapped by a Smoochum. It's funny!" Said the boy through snorts, to the Ledyba's growing irritation. The boy was quick to calm down, still snickering under his breath. "Okay, okay, sorry, I'm fine now." He said, before holding out his arms. "Let's see how she likes kissing walls, Ledyba! Use Supersonic!" Ordered the boy, the Ledyba launching itself into the air with a huff before beginning to rapidly flap its wings, a generating a shrill, dizzying soundwave over the battlefield. BATTLE 1. LUCAS Smoochum wasn't really laughing when her attack succeeded, but she was indeed smirking and feeling very much proud of herself. She smoothly landed back on the battlefield some ways from the Ledyba since it was always better to be cautious. "(How'd you like that, huh?)" she taunted, putting her hands on her hips. Lucas couldn't help but let out a small snicker from his opponent's reaction. Not only was the guy a potty-mouth (as common with teens, he supposed), but he seemed to be enjoying himself. Alright, well, he shouldn't let this opportunity come to pass. Before he could issue a command, though, the boy made his Ledyba used Supersonic. Well shit. Lucas flinched at the ear-piercing attack, and it was definitely worse for his own Pokemon. Even covering her ears didn't work, and Smoochum soon found herself feeling strange as the floor refused to stop swaying from side to side. Oh no, this wasn't good. He should still try an attack though and hope for the best. "Smoochum, use Pound again!"She couldn't really register what her trainer had said, but she figured that he issued a command and so she let out another powder of snow, only it was going at all directions, including Lucas. As a result, the snow swiveled around the entire battlefield, and it immediately felt colder. Shivering from his moment in the snow, he quickly brushed off the chilly stuff on his arms. This didn't look good at all!

Hoo-iey. Ledyba had one response to the mass of ice suddenly being thrown everywhere. With a scream of panic, it flew straight up and towards a corner of the room, latching onto it and refusing to move away. Doug was not amused. "Wha-" he started, before stomping his foot. "What the heck are you doing? Get in there and finish this!" Ledyba shook his head, crossing a set of its arms over his chest and mimicking trembling. "What do you mean 'too cold'? Don't be a wuss! It ain't gonna get any hotter just cause you are bitching out of the fight! That's not getting anyone hot under the collar, that I can assure!" Ledyba made a rude gesture with its hand. "I swear to the lord if I have to go and get you there, you'll wish 'cold' was the only thing you had to deal with! Here, now!" He said, pointing in front of him. Ledyba did that thing teenagers did when their parents forced their hand, bristling in frustration before flying in front of its trainer, two of its hands hugging itself tightly. "Let's finish this!" Shouted Doug as he grasped at his Straw hat, tugging it slightly. "Use Swift- B!" He ordered, prompting the Ledyba to blink, before realization downed unto it, its head snapping into a nod. It gathered energy at the tip of its fists once again, its fists shining green this time as it reared all arms back. "LOWAAH!" Screamed the Ledyba as it began to swing wildly once again, unleashing a barrage of stars- No... web... patterns? Green, pentagonal web patterns soared towards the Smoochum, Swift charged with energy known as the bug types signature. LedybaType Bug/Flying Level 12, Gender male Ability Early Bird MoveSet

BATTLE 1. LUCAS Admittedly, Lucas wasn't very keen on the interaction between trainer and Pokemon in front of him, but to each their own, he supposed. He couldn't help but let out another small laugh though at the Ledyba's gesture towards his opponent. Looks like they were made for each other in one way or another. "Smoochum, are you okay?!"She was not out of the woods yet, but she managed to steady herself as her head managed to shove aside the confusion if but for a moment. Letting out a small cry, she planted her feet on the ground and showed a determined look, signaling that she was ready for the next command. Lucas had to see what his opponent was up to before it turned out to be another Swift. Well, that was until the "B" part, and he wasn't sure what that was until the move was executed. He had heard of moves being changed around to a particular type, but he had never seen it in action before. Caught offguard to the point of hesitation, he fumbled with his words in his next order, "P-powder Snow!"It looked like this was going to be the last stand, Smoochum thought, so she put whatever energy she had left into her Powder Snow aimed directly at the Ledyba. This Swift was much stronger this time, and so the snow barely stopped it. It was a direct hit, making her fly back to her trainer's side, knocked out. The Swift didn't stop her own attack though, as a flurry of snow moved towards Ledyba's direction with great velocity.

Ah Crap. "Crap Baskets." Was all the boy could say as the snow attack smacked directly into the Ledyba, sending the pokemon sailing back until it landed in front of its trainer, buried underneath a mound of snow. Silence reigned in the room, Doug staring blankly at the mound of snow as if it were the Ledyba's final resting site. Doug gulped. If Ledyba was knocked out... what happened? The Smoochum was knocked out too, but rarely did this kind of situations go in the challengers favor. Would he have to wait for another weak before- A sudden fist suddenly punched through the snow, pointing skywards towards the heavens. A single, rude gesture pointed straight at the Ledyba's own trainer, the pokemon retribution to its trainer for his blatant lies. Finishing the fight hadn't made anything better; it had just gotten colder.
"YES!" Screamed Doug at the clear insult towards his person, pumping both fists in the air as his Ledyba very slowly, very sluggishly, stumbled its way out of the snow, the pokemon falling to its knees besides it shortly after. "I thought we would have to wait for a whole week!" Doug said as he dropped to his knees besides his pokemon, hugging the cold Ledyba to himself. The grunted as the Ledyba's four arms fastened to his waist immediately, the pokemon trying to burrow itself into the warmth of his jacket. "R- ribs...!" It squeezed tighter. BATTLE 1. LUCAS "Well shit." the young man muttered. He clearly lost this one, and even if the Ledyba had fainted from the battle, it would still go to the challenger since he was pretty sure he had least had some other Pokemon with him. With a sigh, he recalled his fainted Smoochum and whispered to her that she did a good job. Perhaps some extra training was in order to control her temper, but she was a young Pokemon; she would get there eventually with more practice. He turned his attention back to the snow pile, which admittedly he was rather surprised to see. It was the first time that a Powder Snow was able to create, well, that much snow. He jumped a little when the Ledyba's hand suddenly punched through it, showing the finger(?) while he did so. Wow, that bug's going places. Not necessarily good places, but places. Lucas snickered before composing himself, "Good job. We can get your Ledyba something to help him warm up, but for now, I suppose you have to pick a door--" he was suddenly cut off when his phone began to vibrate in his pocket. Confused, he pulled it out and was surprised who was calling him, "Yes?" Wait, what? Let him challenge the gym leader immediately? No one else was here to challenge him?? Wow, talk about incompetent trainers. Then again, he was the only one here at the time when this guy suddenly sauntered into the lobby. Still though, they should really have more on-hand trainers! Huh? They were planning on changing the system anyway? Well, he supposed he couldn't argue with these kinds of people. He was getting paid for this, anyway. "Alright, I'll let him know." he said finally before ending the call. The young man then turned to Doug and gestured him to come closer. "Follow me, I'll take you to the main quarters." they were to pass through the other rooms that were supposedly designated for the other challenges, but it seemed that they weren't going to do that today. Rather lucky for the challenger, if anyone bothered to ask him. "Good luck facing Mr. Wright. I'm not supposed to be cheering the challengers or anything, but I think you'll manage."The main quarters happened to look like a pent house only it was on the ground floor. There was a small bar to the left and some couches in the middle, surrounding a glass coffee table with a little potted plant in the middle. The gym leader, Arthur Wright, was just sitting down casually while drinking a cup of tea. His Woobat was sitting beside him with a bowl of crackers to herself. "I take it you're the challenger?" he asked nonchalantly. "If you want we can go straight the battlefield, otherwise feel free to relax for a bit and order anything you want. Lucas, you may go now.""That's my cue." the young man said with a shrug as he glanced at Doug for one moment, did a light bow towards Arthur, and left the room. Now it was just the two gym leaders inside, with one not knowing that the other was even a gym leader.

Ah Crap. "Oh, a phone call. Okay then." Well. He had been hoping they could get a warm blanket or something along those lines for Ledyba, but it appeared the man had a (hopefully) important call to answer to. He would have to improvise. A few seconds later Ledyba was wrapped up in the boy's white overcoat, sighing in relief while the boy held onto it, his red hoodie now fully on display. The man (who's name he still didn't know, he realized) had finished his phone call and was speaking to him again. "Excuse me?" He said in response to his words, tilting a brow. Wasn't he supposed to battle two other guys before the leader? Apparently not, seeing how he was led through a couple more rooms (all of them empty, he noticed). "Thanks for the vote of confidence, Mr.... Well, Mister." He said, before fishing into his pants for his... business card. It possessed a simple design, with a black, matte surface and a neon green web pattern dipping into the lower left corner. "Jun-fan 'Douglas' Freeman, Future Pokemon Champion" The contact info for his PokeNav also happened to be in there. "Hope to see ya again, Mister." He said cheerily shortly before they arrived to the 'main quarters'. It was essentially a lavishly decorated chamber with a bar on the side, some comfortable looking couches in the middle, and table with a potted plant amongst all the couches... And a young man and Woobat casually lounging about, drinking tea. This was the first time he met a gym leader inside their own gym. Honestly, he had expected the occasion to be a bit... grander. Oh well, it's what he got for challenging on a casual Friday. He almost snickered at his own joke. Doug nodded at the Gym Leader, before half turning to wave at the other man as he left. His gaze shifted back towards the Gym Leader, taking his previous offer into consideration before speaking up. "If it's not against any rules, I would like to heal my Ledyba before moving to the battlefield. If not, then I'm ready to proceed." He said as he approached the lounging area were the leader sat, stopping a few meters short.

MAYBE IT'D BE FASTER IF THE ONE WHO DISAPPEARED WAS ME. Lucas took the business card graciously, albeit a little taken aback because the young boy had his own business card. Wow, clearly he was prepared. Cocky, but well prepared. "Lucas Taylor. I'll probably be seeing you around." he said with a smile. He then left him with Arthur, wondering what result he would hear later. Arthur listened attentively to the challenger's request. "That is fine, there's a small fridge nearby the bar that contains a number of potions. You're free to take one to heal your Pokemon." he took another sip of his tea, feeling a little disappointed that he didn't have more time to relish it better. Ah well, he supposed it was his fault for shifting the system all too suddenly. He wasn't sure what else to do since his other trainers were gone once again, and so the system proved itself to be ineffective. Lucas would be getting a small bonus for managing to play gatekeeper, he noted. "Come on, little one. If you eat too much of that you won't be able to fly.""(Whaa?? You can't just say that, Master!)" she cried indignantly, but she did end up taking one more cracker before clumsily placing the lid back on top of the container. Once Doug was finished healing his Pokemon, he ushered him into another battlefield that happened to be an airy dome--the glass above made sure that if it rained they wouldn't get wet, but it wasn't as well-lit as the first room. After all, during the day time, it mainly relied on the natural sunlight streaming through the transparent roof. "I suppose I should give you an official welcome to the gym. My name is Arthur Wright, and I'll be your second opponent for today." he stated before doing a light bow. "Compared to your first battle, this'll be a three on three. You'd have to defeat all of my Pokemon to earn the gym badge. Now, let's see what you're made of."It had been a bit since Arthur had done a gym battle, so he figured that it wouldn't hurt to experiment a little. He had been practicing with some of his Pokemon, and while there was still a delay between the telepathic communication and execution, it's enough to ruffle one's feathers at the beginning of the match. "Come, Gothita."He threw the Poke ball in the air, releasing a small black and white figure with cute bows on her head and body. Compared to Smoochum, she was a lot more experienced in battle because of all the newbies that have tried to challenge this gym before. Whatever this guy was going to throw at them, she resolved to do her best. We'll try telepathy today, little one.Yes, Master. she replied, trying to avoid the urge to glance back at him. She was still getting used to the idea of telepathy without looking at who she was communicating with. It would become even more difficult when the battle really starts...

Ah Crap. Douglas sighed in relief, glad healing his pokemon wasn't against the rules. Though Ledyba fancied himself a fighter with fists of iron, the truth of the matter was that his true role in the team was that of utility support; who knew when the barriers would come in handy, after all. "Thanks." He said as he began to approach the freezer, opening up to find the potions mentioned before. A max potion took care of any injuries; an ice heal wasn't really needed, but he still used it, just in case, seeing how Ledyba still looked a little cold. "That any better?" He finally asked his pokemon as he took the overcoat off him, allowing the Ledybug pokemon to stretch its wings. Ledyba flapped them experimentally, hovering in front of the boy before doing a small somersault and hi-five-ing the boy with a grin. Doug returned it. "Good, cause you'll probably be in the next fight too. Ledyba made a face at him. The boy just shrugged his shoulders and grinned un-apologetically. With that said, Doug returned Ledyba to his Net ball before he could protest further, falling in line behind the gym leader shortly after. He was led into a dome like structure, sun light shining through the transparent bubble that protected them from the weather. The usual, rectangle shaped field marking the battlefield at the center of the chamber. As soon as they took their positions, the Gym leader presented himself and explained the rules of the battle. Doug nodded along, scratching at his chin in thought. Three pokemon...? He looked around the battlefield for a second, eyeing the structure and shape of the place. Yeah, he could work with this. "Got it." He said, before holding out his fist. "My name is Doug Freeman, Future Champion of Stellara! A pleasure!" He said, before reaching into his belt for a Net Ball. With a click, it grew from a marble to a baseball, before being thrown shortly after the Gym leader chose his own pokemon. A small arachnid, its head surrounded by a water bubble, landed on the field, looking around warily before her gaze settled onto the tiny pokemon across from her. She blinked, before turning to face her trainer, narrowing her eyes at her. "Don't you give me attitude right now, I need your A-game today." Said the boy firmly, "This is a Gym challenge." Dewpider blinked at him, before glancing around the entire battlefield slowly, apparently only now taking the grandness of the battlefield when in comparison to the usual street or forest she found herself battling in. The water pokemon felt nervousness well up in her chest. Well crap. "This is your Gym Debut, so let's give 'em a show!" Said the boy, before holding out his arm. "Use Spider Web, go!" He said, before pointing towards the center of the room. Gathering her nerves, the Dewpider leaped in the air before unleashing a large web onto the battlefield, the thick webbing spreading in a random, window crack pattern all over the floor, spreading towards the Gothita swiftly.
