ARTHUR WRIGHT
NAME — Arthur Wright
AGE — Twenty-Two (22)
GENDER — Male
SEXUALITY — Bisexual
TRAINER CLASSES —
Type Expert [Psychic]
As a Psychic, Arthur has a preference for training Psychic-type Pokemon since he believes it put them on equal ground. He can speak to them, and they can speak to him. They would also be the most familiar with telepathy, which coincides with his way of battling.
Brutalist
Arthur is a firm believer in necessary suffering to bring out the utmost potential in his Pokemon. This means that the Pokemon under him must share the same belief -- they must be loyal and always ready to push themselves to their maximum capabilities. Arthur not only handpicks his Pokemon but also makes them agree to his terms, otherwise they are useless to him. Praise does not come out often from this young man, but when it does, it is truly well-deserved.
Psychic
Arthur has mainly practiced in telepathic communication with his Pokemon and idly floating tiny objects (like pebbles or marble stones) with his telekinesis. He has much less experience with communicating with people in this fashion, though he has run some experiments with unassuming strangers before. It could only be done if his eyes are locked onto the person, but vice versa is not necessarily required. In days where he is in more a more mischievous mood, this does make for some fun pranks, but he only did it during his teenage years when he was still learning the basic extent of his abilities. Frankly, Arthur is afraid of telepathic communication with people because he does not want to expose himself mentally--it is a two-way street, after all.
AFFILIATION — Team Crux (Business Contact)
Wright Telecommunications has been providing Team Crux with their cellular networks and some of their products for the past few decades. It started with his father, who saw a good business opportunity in investing in this group, even if their intentions were definitely questionable. While Agents of Team Crux may not recognize Arthur, they will know his company at the very least. He is not allowed to take on Team Crux missions nor enter the base of operations unless accompanied by an agent and with good reason.
OCCUPATION — Eridani City Gym Leader
APPEARANCE
HEIGHT — 5'10'' ft
WEIGHT — 135 lbs
HAIR COLOR — White
EYE COLOR — Greyish Blue
SKIN COLOR — Pale
ABNORMALITIES — Has long, white eyelashes.
Arthur's aesthetic is simple and elegant, so many of his clothing usually consists of patterns or solid colors with frills. His white hair is often side-swept into a light mess, but he always keeps it at a certain length since anything more would make it harder to maintain. His body is rather lanky since he does not eat nor go out much, so he's actually quite fragile and his skin is rather pale. He does not show much emotion, often wearing a straight face, a small grin, or furrowed brows, but it is very much possible for him to break his cool. Oftentimes he will have a few dominantly red marbles in his pocket, ready for him to fiddle with if needed. When he's alone, these marbles tend to float, and his eyes become a little glazed as he watches them.
PERSONALITY
Arthur mainly tries his best to keep a cool and calm composure, if not a little haughty because of his prestigious background. While he does not directly insult people, if the opportunity arises, he would comment something that seems to be putting others down. He does not lie, though, he hates lying (but is not above hiding the truth, or telling a partial truth while leaving some details out). If he does not know something, he will admit it, but somehow still make it sound condescending. Normally he does not initiate conversation, and more often than not he tries to make conversations end by replying with few words and little to no follow-up questions. If he is talking to someone of high ranking, though, he will be polite and show gestures of respect.
To those he shows interests though, or to those who do not appear to be the annoying type, Arthur can surprisingly show bouts of chattiness--partially to show off what he knows, and other times because...well, he supposes that he misses talking with other people that aren't just his servants and whatnot. In other words, he can be more accomodating to strangers, unless one immediately places the wrong foot forward.
Due to his sheltered upbringing and his fear of his ability being discovered, he can be distrustful of people. This doesn't mean that he would shut out of conversation what so ever, but he doesn't like revealing personal information besides the shallow details (his name, his occupation, etc). It would not be an exaggeration that he has yet to open himself to someone for around a decade of his life, leaving a lot of bottled up emotions swirling inside him. Nevertheless, he has gotten used to hiding it, and would be horrified if it suddenly came out to anyone, even those he might foster a real connection with. He is much more used to conversing with Pokemon, though even then much prefers his own rather than other people's Pokemon. He also doesn't like traveling very far from cities since he's been rather spoiled all his life (and he has done enough traveling for one lifetime, he says). Sometimes, he just stays in the luxurious Wright Telecommunications building for days on end, passing the time with reading, crafting, or playing video games.
Still, there's something about the company of human people that is different his Pokemon. He cannot deny that he craves it every once in a while.
BACKGROUND
- Arthur was born as the eldest in a wealthy family that owns the large and booming Wright Telecommunications. His grandfather was one of the big investors in Eridani's revival, and so the city folks were very familiar with the company. Their cellular towers dominate the city, usually tying in with other businesses for promotions and whatnot. Arthur's father similarly made an investment in Team Crux and has become one of their closer business contacts. While the family is not fully aware of Team Crux's activities, they are aware what they do is questionable and underhanded. They do not pay much heed to it so long as they continue to pay.
- When Arthur was born, his parents feared that he might be a morph because of his long, white eyelashes. They knew that Team Crux was after such anomalies and made sure to keep him hidden from the world. It was only when he grew past his toddler years that they relaxed a little since he didn't seem to show any other abnormal traits that a morph would normally possess.
- As a child, Arthur was quiet and reserved, often saying a few words at a time. He showed a big attachment to Pokemon though, especially to his nanny Audino. Because of that, he would prefer to play with Pokemon rather than other kids. His younger siblings would often write off Arthur as weak, not wanting to assert himself or fight back.
- Around the age of ten, Arthur suddenly woke up to a muddled mind, hearing a high pitched voice that was not his. It took him a few minutes to realised that it was his Audino thinking. She was the first living being that he heard and also revealed his newfound ability to. Knowing full well that this was not normal, he made sure not to tell his parents, fearful that they might label him a morph and he would be taken away by Team Crux. Thus, his first experiments to the limitation of his ability were only with his companion Pokemon, and it was there he tested his telepathy. Eventually, he learned to access telekinesis as well, but it took many, many months of practice before he could effortlessly lift a marble from the ground. One time, one of his siblings had barged into his room while he raised a piece of paper, but he quickly told them that he had accidentally dropped it. No one but his closest Pokemon would ever know of his secret.
- When he turned thirteen, he did not go on his own journey unlike other children of his age. Instead, his father began to train him more strictly as the next heir to their corporation, further isolating him in studies, meetings, and travels. It was in his travels that he tried his telepathy on strangers since it was highly unlikely they would ever meet again. He would rarely see his mother and siblings except for holidays when they would return to Stellara.
- As the years flew by, Arthur knew that his performance was not up to par with what his father desired. When his younger sibling turned thirteen, he too began to accompany them on their travels. It quickly became clear--even without his psychic abilities--that father favorited his younger brother over him. In a way, it was partially a blessing in disguise. Because he was no longer watched for every little thing he did, Arthur began to study Pokemon battling. He also tried to experiment with the limits of his ability in secret. His father was at least generous enough to allow him to train Pokemon, possibly because he saw that Arthur had more potential as a trainer than a CEO.
- At the age of twenty-one, Arthur's father suddenly made him Eridani City's gym leader. He apparently had bought the rights to have the gym hosted in their own building, so Arthur assumed it was another ploy at an advertisement. Nevertheless, the young man was both extremely nervous, confused, and excited. He finally was given a proper chance to test his tactics in professional battle, but he wasn't sure if he was prepared.
- In his first official battle, he tried to make sure that his strategies play out accordingly, yet he did not account for the intense emotions the challenger radiated. Both they and their Pokemon had a bond that Arthur could not quite pinpoint, and it broke his mental concentration like glass. He lost the match with a heavy and confused heart, having to beat down thoughts of jealousy days afterward. How could they be so in sync without telepathy? Their trust was in an entirely different level from his own, he realised. While he knew he could not achieve it the same way that particular trainer did, he would find a way to achieve it. It was then his training began to incorporate telepathy more heavily, spending weeks and months with his Pokemon until they were one.
- A year after his gym had opened to the public, Arthur believes he still has some ways to go before perfection, but he has already run some silent battles with other trainers with a fairly high success rate. It definitely works best in the beginning, where the trainer still has to adjust to a lack of forewarning. He would not be satisfied until he has a rematch with that particular trainer though. It would the true test to his abilities if his telepathy can beat their trust...

ABILITY — Unaware
HELD ITEM — N/A
GENDER — Female
HEIGHT — 1'04''
WEIGHT — 4.06 lbs
MOVE LIST — Fake Tears (Egg), Confusion (1), Odor Sleuth (4)
PERSONALITY — Woobat was a gift to Arthur from a relative that bred competitive Pokemon, though she actually didn't make the cut. Said relative thought that while she wasn't very battle-oriented, she could help him...relax or something. While Arthur is usually very strict with the number of Pokemon he keeps, he didn't have the heart to refuse a gift, especially because she was still very young. For the mean time, he keeps her around as a companion.
Woobat is extremely clingy, almost seeing Arthur as her replacement mother. She hardly leaves his side and easily gets jealous when he pays some close attention to another Pokemon that isn't one of his. Being very young, she's naive of the world and wholeheartedly thinks that Arthur's method of training is correct. She hopes that when she grows older, she'll be strong enough to handle it. For the meantime it's mostly fun and games, observing him battle and also learn to navigate the world once again. In a way she's a literal wing-woman that does her best to assist him, or when he just needs someone to talk to.
