As the son of a Chef, he's never had a bad or unhealthy meal in his life, and it shows on every part of his countenance, body and health (
He possesses his mother's hair color and his father's eyes. He prefers to keep his hair short and easily manageable.
Because he spends most of his free time outside of his home, he has developed a healthy tan, and tends to wear clothing that favor physical exercise; he hold no particular preferences when choosing clothes and is not particularly picky.
As a result, he can either look really mundane or really out of place depending on what he decides to throw on.
PERSONALITY
Because he doesn't take much seriously, he tends to butt heads with more cautious individuals, and his inflated ego tends to take considerable beatings. He responds to threats to his well being with arrogance and indifference, seemingly considering himself above being hurt.
The worst aspect of his personality would be his pride, as he is more often than not unwilling to admit he was wrong, preferring to not bring up his blunders at all. This is perhaps one of the reasons he seeks to prove he can become the very best in the region, perhaps the world, with only the bug type pokemon he loves so much: Proving he didn't 'choose' wrong when he fell in love with the bug type.
His best aspect is kindness; he is someone who offers help first and asks questions later. Something of a philosophy both of his parents cultivated on him ever since he was young. Though his arrogance and hot headed stubborness may rub many the wrong way and he does not always get along with everyone, he is rarely ever trying to cause such reactions on people.
He tends to forgive and forget easily, not hinging unto grudges for any longer than one of those mythical goldfishes can remember anything.
BACKGROUND
Douglas is the son of a Chef hailing from Unova and a Fighting type Specialist from Stellara, and was born in Shaula town. Douglas learned all he knows about cooking and nutrition from his father. During the afternoon shifts, he worked at his at his father's restaurant. Though an amazing cook, his father kept their restaurant as a simple family diner, finding the happiness that the families and their children brought to his restaurant and their life far more rewarding.
Douglas learned Martial Arts and good health habits from his mother. She was a former Gym Leader from Stellara specializing in Fighting type pokemon, and a Master of Martial Arts herself. Every morning before the bird pokemon could even begin chirping, she ran her son and husband both through training, wanting nothing but for them to be as healthy as possible so that they could both live a long, enjoyable life. Her husband specially. The man was overweight and would not stop stuffing his and their son's face with great food.
She ran the only Dojo in Shaula town, and taught to a great number of children and adults alike, her own son amongst them. Her training of him was not too different from the one received by the rest of her students until he began to grow older in age. As the time when he would leave them to become a pokemon trainer grew closer, and news of the nefarious Team Crux grew more prevalent, her son's training grew more intensive, and more focused towards real world situations than competitions.
Between his two parents and school, Doug had his mornings and afternoons booked. The evening however, belonged to him. He used it to study bug type pokemon; wonderment caused by his first meeting with one, his father's Volcarona, had slowly turned into deep seated admiration and perhaps even obsession with them, with the boy riding to Kaxyl Forest on his Bicycle just for the chance of being able to study bug type pokemon upclose.
His room's bookshelves were crowded with reading material on Bug type pokemon, the back of his school notebooks filled with relatively well done life drawings of any bug type pokemon he could see, little notes and details on them written all over the pages.
When he became Twelve, he informed his parents that he would take on the Gym Challenge the moment he became 13.
His mother was understandably distressed; she immediately intensified the training; with allt he news of Team Crux going on, she just felt like there was just no amount of training the world that could keep his son truly safe.
His father did not enjoy the thought of his child leaving the home when Stellara seemed to be in such a dangerous situation, but couldn't stop his child from growing.
So he handed him an Egg instead. Bred from his own Volcarona and a good friend's Beautifly, it contained Doug's first pokemon. His Larvesta. On the day of his 13th birthday, Doug set out to complete the gym challenge, aiming to become the champion of the pokemon league.

PERSONALITY — She is usually shy and happy to stay in the background. Unfortunately for her, Doug is quite awed by a bug that also makes thing catch fire, and is all too often eager to showcase her to whoever is foolish enough to initiate conversation with him, let alone challenge him to battle.
Her trainer's overconfidence generally overpowers her own self-confidence issues, inspiring her to battle even when she doesn't believe in her own strength. She responds well to encouragement and praise, and suffers under heavy criticism, though she only cares for it when it comes from her trainer.
She has a temper to behold when incensed, specially in battle. Taking too much damage can cause her to explode in anger.
