(I might as well keep my gym application here so I don't lose it elsewhere) OOC Name: Peony Character Becoming Gym Leader: Arthur Wright Gym Applying To: Eridani City Gym Leader (Psychic) Why do you want the position of Gym Leader? It looks like a lot of work but also looks like fun! I’ve never been a Gym leader across the many Pokemon sites I’ve been in, so it would be a cool first. Also it would help me practice write battles and strategies, thinking out of the box from the game-verse. How will being a Gym Leader contribute to your character’s story and development?Arthur was given the position of Gym leader as a compromise, since he lost his inheritance as CEO of the family company to his more capable younger brother. While he was not completely surprised that his father would pull a stunt like this, he did not expect to become Gym leader, and so the position would teach him a number of things about Pokemon and force him to interact with others. Arthur does have a passion for training Pokemon to be the strongest they can be, so a part of him tries to accept it as a blessing in disguise, but he’s also quite bitter about the whole family affair. Still, it’s a necessary step for him to grow more as a person and as a trainer. Gym battles are where he mainly gets experience, since battling randomly outside can lead to needless engagements. What do you plan to do to ensure that your Gym is fair, challenging and interesting? As a Psychic, Arthur’s ideal goal is to carry through a whole battle without him issuing any vocal commands. This means that to an outsider’s perspective, he would only do gestures and use telepathy to battle with his opponent. Without the usual forewarning, challengers must be more observant and careful in predicting Arthur’s strategies. This, of course, comes with drawbacks. He is still in the process of training all of his Pokemon to respond to him flawlessly this way, and so in the lower tiers, he battles traditionally with voice commands. It is only in the higher tiers, where he uses Pokemon he is more familiar with, that he becomes silent. This technique requires concentration and calm though, so a challenger that somehow manages to ruffle his feathers can break the silence. Dual typing, of course, will become more apparent in higher levels too, along with a combination of status moves, stalls, and status conditions. Post your gym’s information. Include a description of the gym, its rules and prizes for winning and losing. You may use templates and tables if you wish. Eridani’s Gym is located right in the heart of the Wright Telecommunications Corp. Challengers must enter through a luxurious looking lobby, where they may or may not be bombarded with advertisements and questions about expanding their phone plans. If prompted about the gym challenge, staff will escort them to a door somewhere at the back, where challengers would now be faced with more doors. The layout is similar to Norman’s Gym in ORAS, where each room contains a specialised trainer that they must battle, otherwise they must start again. Because of this, they must fight three trainers (no more, no less), but each trainer only has one Pokemon. Challengers are free to use any items they bring with them. Once they get to the final room, their Pokemon will be healed and they will fight Arthur’s team depending on the number of badges. If they so wish, they may take a breather to help with their nerves since the final room has a mini bar where they can order a drink. The stage is actually in a connected indoor room to their right. Only the challenger is allowed to use items, but the Gym leader may allow their Pokemon to hold an item. The battle ends when all the Pokemon of one side faints. If the challenger wins, they earn 20 PD and TM29 Psychic. Post your gym Pokemon teams. This can be included in your gym information. Your team and levels will differ depending on the number of badges a challenger has. You need to have a team for each number of badges. You may use the same Pokemon in multiple teams and simply change their levels and moves if you wish. TMs, Move Tutor and Egg Moves are allowed to be used for Pokemon movesets. Starting at five badges and up, Gym Pokemon are allowed to have eight moves instead of the typical six. Follow the level guidelines detailed below when determining the level of your Pokemon.Lower tiers are only 3v3. The Z-Crystal is assigned only when the gym leader picks his Pokemon. The Mega Stone, on the other hand, is set to its respective Pokemon. OOC Name: Dawn Character Becoming Gym Leader: Avery Gym Applying To: Flying
Why do you want the position of Gym Leader?
The idea of being a Gym Leader sounds really fun! The thought of testing trainers to see if they’re worthy of a badge is a really fun idea. Plus, I had an idea for how the battles will go that sounds really fun. Basically; Fun!
How will being a Gym Leader contribute to your character’s story and development?
My character is, in all honestly, a child. All he wants to do is watch birds, and relax. However, he has the Gym thrust upon him as it’s been in his family for generations, and they want to, as his family states it “Keep it in the flock.” though he thinks it’s their attempt to teach him responsibility.
What do you plan to do to ensure that your Gym is fair, challenging and interesting?
Post your gym’s information. Include a description of the gym, its rules and prizes for winning and losing. You may use templates and tables if you wish.
The gym is an open stadium in the center of the city, and is absolutely colossal. A gym battle for this gym is a spectator event, a group even for the “flock” of Lacaille City. The actual Arena is huge, a wide sprawling field with boulders sprouting up, going everywhere between 2 meters high to 0.3 meters high. The rocks are randomly placed between each match.
If you beat the leader, you get the Aerial Ace TM or the Roost TM, as well as 20 PD.
The Gym Battle is done in a very simple manner; 1v1/2v2/3v3’s. The Gym Leader will always match the opponents number of Pokemon, but the most pokemon that can be used between 0-3 badges is 3, and the rest is 6. If the Challenger has 3 pokemon when fighting the Gym, they must use all three at once. The same is true for if they have 2 pokemon.
In short, the Gym is meant to be Triple Battles, and to teach unity among the pokemon and for the trainer, the ability to track many different targets at once.
Follow the level guidelines detailed below when determining the level of your Pokemon.

OOC Name: Illu Character Becoming Gym Leader:Alanna Asakura Gym Applying To:Dark Type - Vega City Why do you want the position of Gym Leader? Alanna wants the position of Gym leader, to prove to the populace that not all Dark type Pokemon are scary. She intends to train her Gym provided Pokemon with a gentle steady hand, and earning their trust. How will being a Gym Leader contribute to your character’s story and development? This will help to further prove to her, that she is not just a doll to be kept on a shelf. That her father was wrong and that Pokemon should be trained, by earning their trust and with a gentle but stern hand. It will also serve as another step in her becoming an adult as it were. Her first step into a career of her own. That has nothing to do with anything she has ever attempted before. What do you plan to do to ensure that your Gym is fair, challenging and interesting? In order for challengers to to gain access to the room where the arena lies, trainers will have to rely on their Pokemon and their trust in each other in order, to make their way through a series of rooms. That create a maze, mixed with different amounts of light and darkness. Along with varying textures, to create a disorienting effect of would be challengers. Due to this, challengers are encouraged to rely on their Pokemon to help them make their way through these rooms. As each room is equipped with a hidden trap that can either send you directly to the Gym leader, or back to the main reception area of the gym where you must start the maze again. Post your gym’s information. Include a description of the gym, its rules and prizes for winning and losing. You may use templates and tables if you wish. The Vega City Pokemon Gym is no one of anything out of the ordinary. This gym resembles an old Victorian style mansion. The first floor is a lavish reception area, with a full service Cafe and library. Here trainers can rest, have conversations and even meet with the Gym leader off of the official battle field. This area is decorated in soft tones of violet and silver. The floors are made of smooth mosaic tiles, depicting all sorts of dark type Pokemon.
All trainers are greeted by a friendly and warm receptionist who offers to heal their Pokemon and a free voucher for a snack and drink at the cafe, free of charge. The Cafe is decorated nicely with soft tones of gold and white, the tile floors here are covered in a series of plush rugs. and couches, arranged around tables for visitors and challengers to relax at.
The second floor is where the challenge begins. The second floor is a series of maze like rooms, all with varying degrees of light and darkness in each room. The walls and floors are specially designed to create a disorientating effect, with a mixture of texture on the floors and walls, with the mix of the lights. Each room has a trap specifically designed to send Challengers back to the beginning, to start the whole maze over again. Challengers are suggested to rely on their Pokemon to help them make way through these rooms.
ulla Battle Rules:
All Battles will be singles battles, on a 3v3 battle style.
Only the Challenger may switch out Pokemon during battle.
ulla Rewards What you get for winning One TM containing Dark Pulse The Dark Gym Badge 50PD

OOC Name: LegendaryBugCatcher Character Becoming Gym Leader: Doug Freeman Gym Applying To:Fighting type Gym Why do you want the position of Gym Leader? Seems fun and I've the time for it. It also provides an opportunity to develop my character by forcing him out of his comfort zone. And I like coming up with both aesthetics, themes and challenges, which made the process of making the gym an enjoyable exercise. How will being a Gym Leader contribute to your character’s story and development?
Douglas has an obsessive preference towards bug type pokemon and rejects the use of any pokemon that does not belong within this typing or egg group. I was thinking of using this as a chance to force him to come out of his comfort zone and learn to appreciate pokemon outside of his expertise. I conceptualized it as something arranged by his mother, who is a/the former Fighting type gym Leader, which would explain how he got the position despite his young age. Being one of his teacher and mentors alongside being his mother, she desires for him to broaden his horizons and abandon his hardheaded, close minded approach to pokemon team building. As he is new to the position and only ever present in the city of the gym when he is called for a challenge, his identity as gym leader is unknown for the most part. That said, he has studied Martial Arts under his mother and her fighting type pokemon since he was a little child, and is at least well acquainted with every pokemon belonging to her mother, which is to say, every pokemon he uses as a Gym Leader, not to mention being aware of their capabilities. What do you plan to do to ensure that your Gym is fair, challenging and interesting?
In order to challenge the gym leader to battle, the challenger must first take part in a mock Martial Arts Tournament, their opponent being the Martial Artists trained within the Gym's Dojo. Details below. Post your gym’s information. Include a description of the gym, its rules and prizes for winning and losing. You may use templates and tables if you wish. The Gym is the highest located structure within Hamal Town, having been built at the top of a steep hill. The locals jokingly refer to the stair climb required to get there as 'the hard part' of the challenge, and many martial artists, joggers, triathlonists and general fitness enthusiasts have made climbing up and down the hill a part of their daily regime. The gym's architect drew heavy inspiration from the architecture found in Johto's Violet Town and Ecruteak City, particularly on the one seen on the Bellsprout tower and the Bell tower. It serves not only as the battleground for those seeking to challenge the Fighting type Gym leader of Stellara, but also as a Martial Arts Dojo open to those who seek to learn Discipline, self-defense and self-improvement. In order to challenge the gym leader to battle, the challenger must first take part in a mock Martial Arts Tournament, their opponent being the Martial Artists trained within the Gym's Dojo.- The tournament takes place in an expansive courtyard directly in front of the gym's temple like structure, in a 20x20 Square Ring.
- The tournament will have four rounds; Preliminaries, quarter finals, semi finals and finals.
- From the preliminaries to the semi finals, the battles will be 1 on 1 between a pokemon of the challenger's choosing and his opponent's own.
- Winner is determined by either knock out, surrender, or Ring out.
- Though flying pokemon are allowed, if they land on/touch anything outside of the ring's boundaries, they are immediately disqualified by Ring Out. If they fly too far from the ring , they'll also be disqualified.
- No healing items are allowed during the Preliminaries, the quarter finals, nor the semi finals.
Should the challenger make it to the final round of the tournament, they'll face the gym leader. The rules for the battle with the gym leader differ from the rest. -The battle takes place under the Gym's Temple like structure, in a large underground chamber that can only be accessed through a hidden passage. The chamber appears to be supported by rows of massive, finely engraved columns that appear to resist even the most powerful attacks. There is a single opening on the ceiling from which light of unknown origin projects into the chamber. It is otherwise illuminated by what appears to be luminescent stones etched over the walls, as well as a thousand candles lighted around a single, circular body of shallow water. A top of it, a golden, draconic statue reminiscent of a Kommo-O's head faces the surface of the water, with the single badge trapped in its maw. - No spectators are allowed.
- The challenger may use only 2 Pokemon of their choosing. Challengers with 4 or more badges must choose 4 pokemon instead.
- The Gym Leader may not use any healing items whatsoever.
- Challengers may use up to 5 healing items of any combination, be it potions or status healing items.
- Revives and Max Revives are prohibited.
- Battles will be in a Double (2v2) battle format.
- Should the challenger lose while in possession of 5 or more badges, the Gym leader may still grant them a badge should he find their performance commendable.
WIN CONDITIONS
- Knock out all of the Gym Leader's pokemon.
Or, SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
- The challenger must take the badge wedged within the golden Statue's maw before the end of the pokemon battle.
- The Dragon statue is suspended over 10 meters in the air and possesses a powerful grip on the badge, making simply yanking it away by physical or psychic force unlikely.
- The challenger may not use their pokemon's direct assistance for this endeavor. They must reach and take this badge on their own.
- Do note: The challenger must deal with the Gym Leader himself should they choose this course.
- This is simply an alternate path, and failing to obtain the badge through this manner does not mean they cannot obtain it by simply winning the pokemon battle. It is simply an alternate measure, for those confident in their personal abilities. As with catching pokemon, a trainer may attempt to obtain the badge; but the gym leader determines if their efforts were worthy (or at all possible) of obtaining it.
REWARDS - Those who manage to defeat the Gym Leader's pokemon and win the pokebattle will receive the Hamal Town's Fighting Type Gym Badge, 25 PD and the TM52: Focus Blast.
- Those who obtain a badge through the Special conditions will keep the badge they obtained, as well as receive 25PD, the TM52: Focus Blast, and their choice between a single Muscle Band or an Expert Belt.
- Those who lose the battle but receive the medal due to commendable performance will not receive any rewards other than the Hamal Town's Fighting Type Gym Badge itself.
Follow the level guidelines detailed below when determining the level of your Pokemon.Level 0Pokemon | Levels | Abilities | Items | MoveSet | Tyrogue | 13 | Guts | N/A | Fake Out - Foresight - Helping Hand - Tackle - Bullet Punch - Brick Break | Scraggy | 13 | Moxie | N/A | Headbutt - Feint Attack - Swagger - Dual Chop - Taunt - Thunder Punch | Riolu | 14 | Inner Focus | N/A | Force Palm - Counter - Quick Attack - Blaze Kick - Follow me - Mind Reader | Meditite | 14 | Telepathy | N/A | Confusion - Detect - Signal Beam - Ice Punch - Fake Out - Double Team | Sawk | 15 | Mold Breaker | N/A | Fire Punch - Ice Punch - Pain Split - Superpower - Earthquake - Double Team | Throh | 15 | Mold Breaker | N/A | Mat Block - Thunder Punch - Stomping Tantrum - Knock Off - Superpower - Grass Knot |
