OOC Name: Proteysha Character Becoming Gym Leader: Iridi Mirren Gym Applying To: Pavo Town Ground Gym
Why do you want the position of Gym Leader? Three reasons. One, I'd like to help contribute to the site beyond a regular character. Two, having a role such as this will hold me accountable to work on bettering my writing skills. Three, to have fun!
How will being a Gym Leader contribute to your character’s story and development? Iridi's father had wanted to become a Gym Leader when he was younger, before he met Iridi's mother and moved to Hoenn. By becoming the Pavo Town trainer she is trying to connect to her father's past and become a person he would've been proud of. Additionally, her mother raised to her be a wife and not a Pokemon trainer, so by doing this she is thumbing her nose at her mother. So win-win.
What do you plan to do to ensure that your Gym is fair, challenging and interesting? Iridi will be using eight Pokemon species and their evolutions, with the first few levels having ground only types and then including dual types as the level increases. Some of her Pokemon have nothing but higher attack moves, while others will have status moves and weaker attacks, making it so that a challenging trainer can't rely on just one battle strategy. Additionally, the battles will start with 3v3 for the first four levels, 4v4 for the next three, then 5v5 for the next two, and a 6v6 battle for the highest level unless the challenger has less, then Iridi will match their number. Challengers may use items, but Iridi will not, and it will be standard full team knock out to win.
Post your gym’s information. Include a description of the gym, its rules and prizes for winning and losing. You may use templates and tables if you wish. The Pavo Town Gym isn't one big building, rather a scattering of smaller buildings located in a park-like area. There are miles of hiking trails and several rock climbing walls of various difficulty, as the Gym also serves as a recreational area, as well as a building that occasionally hosts Hoenn-style Pokémon Contest Spectaculars. All Gym battles take place in an large field in the center of the park, with seating on the sides for those who wish to spectate. Everyone who enters the park, regular visitor and challenger alike, is asked to check in at the front desk so that staff can ensure no one gets lost out on the trails and cannot be found.
To be able to battle the Gym Leader depends on the day. On some days she will ask you to participate in a Pokémon Contest Spectacular. Winning or loosing doesn't matter, as Iridi is more interested to see if the challenger has a good bond with their Pokemon, or if they're even making an effort to work together. On the days she is out on the trails you just simply need to find her, though it isn't as easy as it sounds. She could be just a mile down the trail, or several hundred feet up a sheer cliff.
If the challenging trainer wins the will receive 25PD and their choice of either a Bulldoze TM or a Earthquake TM, along with the badge. If defeated, they must wait three weeks before challenging again, though they are more than welcome to participate in Pokémon Contest Spectacular.
Post your gym Pokemon teams. This can be included in your gym information. Your team and levels will differ depending on the number of badges a challenger has. You need to have a team for each number of badges. You may use the same Pokemon in multiple teams and simply change their levels and moves if you wish. TMs, Move Tutor and Egg Moves are allowed to be used for Pokemon movesets. Starting at five badges and up, Gym Pokemon are allowed to have eight moves instead of the typical six. Follow the level guidelines detailed below when determining the level of your Pokemon.

Iridi Mirren - Sorry for the wait. Anyways, the requirement to participate in a Contest might be a little too much for a challenge since the Contest might take too long to get through. Also, from five badges and onward, you are able to have Mega Forms and Z-Moves if you wish.

OOC Name: Ven Character Becoming Gym Leader: Damian Moreau Gym Applying To: Lacaille City Flying Gym
Why do you want the position of Gym Leader? I’ve had experience playing as a Gym leader (of this exact Typing) elsewhere, and I hope to continue the trend here. While on the previous locale where I come from the team-building was more focused on a personal Team for the Gym, at least on here I can have the Gym Leader experience be set apart from my character’s own “travels”, per se. I’ve also seen and watched some of the other GLs on here play their lives out as normal characters going on adventures and all that, while hiding the fact that they’re also the Gym Leaders as well.
How will being a Gym Leader contribute to your character’s story and development? To be honest, Damian wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father being a Bird Keeper back in Hoenn, but his studies and education happened before he could set out on his proper Pokémon journey.
Now that he’s free from the system—and has eventually travelled out of his home region to seek his fortunes elsewhere—what better place to start a new chapter of his life than in Stellara, as the Flying-type gym leader? He’s definitely got birds on the brain, despite being a nerd and all that.
At the same time, this would provide an avenue for him to learn more about his own Aura abilities, and better get a focus and grasp on communicating with Pokémon in general, fair-feathered friends or foul alike. It may even lead to him being called the ‘Bird Whisperer’ down the road in the future, if he keeps up with this.
What do you plan to do to ensure that your Gym is fair, challenging, and interesting? Due to the fact that the Flying-type intersects with every single one of the other seventeen existing Types out there, it’d be safe to say that this would be a “training ground” of sorts for whoever wants to challenge the Flying-type Gym. The idea is to think fast and on their feet—while Flying may be one of the more plentiful types out there to exist, they’re also one of the most dynamic, due to the possibilities of dual-typing coming into play.
Post your Gym’s information. Include a description of the gym, its rules and prizes for winning and losing. You may use templates and tables if you wish. Building on the reputation of Lacaille being one of Stellara’s sources of renewable energy, the Lacaille Avian Reserve is a dome-shaped structure built on the outskirts of the city. Powered by several wind-generating turbines that produce renewable energy, the structure itself is basically a reserve and a research institute for the study of Flying-type Pokémon. While it stands as one of the region’s better-known structures, it’s also the region’s Flying-type gym.
The front part of the structure is dedicated to housing majority of the known species of Flying-types that exist in the known Pokéverse; where visitors are very much welcome to interact with the various exhibits that highlight and showcase the Flying-type. From the study of migratory habits; to even caring for injured Flying-types that are brought to the Reserve; to even research on how humans can potentially achieve flight, mot of that takes place in the front part of the structure.
While there are no flashy gimmicks and obvious Trainer traps located within the area, the back side of the structure is where the Flying-type gym is located. With bleachers enough to accommodate either a Trainer’s other Pokémon that wish to spectate the fight or friends who want to come along and watch the Gym Battles, the area is laid out in a standard, League-regulated format with two equal sides—one side for the challenger, the other side for the Gym Leader.
(Some) Battle Rules:
- All battles will be in 3v3 singles format, regardless of how many badges a challenger has. - The challenger always gets the first move. - Substitutions are only allowed when a Pokémon on either side of the field (Gym Leader’s or challenger’s) faints; unless moves that allow switching out (like Baton Pass, U-Turn and similar) are used in-battle. - If the challenger has less than three Pokémon, then Damian won’t accept the challenge. It's to keep things fair, after all.
Upon winning the gym battle, the challenger will receive the Skyrider badge, 50PD and the TM for either Roost / Aerial Ace / Acrobatics; depending on the challenge level undertaken (Roost is awarded from zero to three badges; Aerial Ace from four to six badges, and Acrobatics from seven to nine badges).
If the challenger loses, then they may challenge the Gym again after 2 weeks. No other fancy requirements needed!
Sidenote regarding the number of moves in the higher-level movesets: due to Damian having the Breeder class, all move sets starting from five badges and up are 9 rather than 8 due to the +1 move allowance.
Sidenote #2 regarding the number of 'mons available: Starting from four badges and up, Damian has the option of picking 3 out of the current number of 'mons for the gym. So it's entirely possible that different challengers may end up facing different teams (for example, when a Trainer with 7 badges goes for a challenge, Dams may opt to use Braviary, Gyarados and Salamence. When another Trainer comes in, he might change out to use Charizard, Noivern and Salamence). Variety is the spice of life after all...
Post your gym Pokémon teams. This can be included in your gym information. Your team and levels will differ depending on the number of badges a challenger has. You need to have a team for each number of badges. You may use the same Pokémon in multiple teams and simply change their levels and moves if you wish. TMs, Move Tutor and Egg Moves are allowed to be used for Pokémon move sets. Starting at five badges and up, Gym Pokémon are allowed to have eight moves instead of the typical six. Follow the level guidelines detailed below when determining the level of your Pokémon.

OOC Name: Cait Character Becoming Gym Leader: Rhafiel Diederich Gym Applying To: Dark Why do you want the position of Gym Leader?I want the position of Gym Leader because I love a challenge and I have played a gym leader before. Not necessarily in this type of setting, but I loved it enough to want to try it again. I am intrigued by the fact that our characters have gym-exclusive teams and can still have lives outside of their gyms. In addition, the prospect of not having to use battle calculators makes the whole aspect of being a gym leader that much more fun. How will being a Gym Leader contribute to your character’s story and development? Rhafiel started to feel stuck where he was. He was doing something he enjoyed, but he wasn't enjoying the feeling of being cooped up in an office, listening to peoples issues. By taking the lead in the gym, he's opening himself up to having new and exciting relationships with challengers, other characters, and the overall community. This route also gives him more time to train and give his Pokemon the attention that they deserve, which he has been unable to do over the years. This movement from therapist to Gym Leader will be incredibly beneficial to his overall development and let him explore more of life's options, questions, and curiosities. What do you plan to do to ensure that your Gym is fair, challenging and interesting? I myself will always give challengers a fair chance. If I feel that I'm being unfair, then it is easy enough to adjust a battle style so that it isn't impossible for challengers to defeat the gym. However, with each badge, the battles will likely increase in intensity and creativity. Rhafiel may throw little wrenches into the mix to make things more difficult and fun for the challengers. He will never entertain a battle outside of a 3v3 style singles battle and he's more than happy to be a stepping stone to the next badges if desired. Post your gym’s information. Include a description of the gym, its rules and prizes for winning and losing. You may use templates and tables if you wish. The Dark Type gym of Vega was once a massive, but abandoned planetarium. The previous gym leader long remodeled it and then passed it's deed and title to the League when they retired. When Rhafiel took it over, he fell in love with the seat-less, massive, functioning planetarium. He decided to keep the planetarium open for visitors and gym battles, not wanting to break the tradition that the previous leader had set. The perfectly spherical (yet still massive) planetarium became the battle location of choice for Rhafiel. Anyone who wished to observe could take a seat in an adjoining cafe and restaurant on massive television screens. Additionally, satellite screens also show the status of the battles and the Pokemon battling. When the planetarium is not in use by the gym leader, it is opened up for space shows and "open air" educational movies and research opportunities. Some nights, the planetarium hosts music shows or picnics for families and straggling tourists who might want a break from the sand and surf. There is no sort of maze, puzzle, or trap to deal with for prospective trainers. Instead, trainers simply need to locate the gym leader in the building and ask him for a battle. If you ask any of the employees, they'll tell you he's around there somewhere. Be warned, sometimes when challengers ask him where to find the gym leader, he has been known to lie to people, misleading them, and letting prospective battlers get lost and confused about how to find him. After a while, if they don't figure him out, he'll sometimes get bored and challenge them himself. Basic Gym Rules: - Battles are in 3v3, single format only. The number of badges does not matter.
- Challengers will always go first in battle unless Rhafiel has successfully tricked his opponent and must challenge them himself.
- The only time a Pokemon may be switched out in battle is: (1) when they faint, and (2) when the opponents Pokemon has fainted. Use of Pokemon switching moves is prohibited.
- All challengers must have at least 3 Pokemon to challenge the gym. Any less than 3 and Rhafiel will reject the challenge.
- All battles are performed under the starry sky of the planetarium. Thus, all battles are performed in moderate darkness.
If a challenger defeats the gym leader, they will be given a badge, 50PD, and one of three TMs: TM41 Taunt for badges 0 to 4, TM59 Brutal Swing for badges 5 to 7, and TM79 Dark Pulse for badges 8 and 9. Rhafiel Diederich — Your gym battles are way, way too difficult, especially the earlier ones. Your Pokemon should not have so many egg moves, move tutor moves or TM moves with the early gym battles. Remember: your gym needs to be able to be defeated. Now, your later gyms can be harder, but if your gym is so hard to where no one can beat you, then ... there’s no point in being a gym leader.

IMUIT - I fixed the movesets. I hope that I got them toned down enough.
