Honoka loved festivals. To the point that she had gone all our and dressed up for it. She'd chosen a pretty lavender yukata for the day. She still had her belt with her whip and pokeballs slung across her hips as always, but the rest of her outfit screamed festival. She had her Dratini out with her, wrapped in a similar fabric in an armless Pokemon yukata. The place was bustling, people everywhere, huge crowds. She supposed she should have expected it, but the sheer amount of people was still kind of surprising. She'd just walked away from a series of food stands; some guy had gotten like seven deep fried things. Quadruple bacon. How did that even work? She got some deep fried cheesecake bites herself, which were utterly delicious, and some octopus rings and crab dumplings. And, well, a few other things in a bag for later. No way she was going to pass up on all this, yes over priced, delicious festival food. She grinned over at her Dratini, the two almost able to see eye to eye, and offered him some of the octopus rings, which he happily gobbled down. He wasn't minding the crowd, which was a delightful surprise to her, being as he was. "Well, where to next? Games? More food? See what other events and attractions they have?" Her Dratini seemed to be considering it, and made a snorting noise, thinking to itself what it would be like if the Sneasel were here. She had that one with them, but he was staying nice and snug in his Pokeball, due to his sticky fingers. She chuckled at the Pokemon's expression. "Yeah, I know. It'd be more fun with the others, but he's already going to be jealous enough as it is probably. Come on, lets go win a prize, and maybe then we'll see about letting him out. If he'll behave." Her Dratini nodded excitedly, loving the idea of prizes, and slithered slightly faster than before, making Honoka have to speed up, laughing aloud, to keep up with him.

Yuki has never been to a festival before. There wasn't a lot to celebrate back in Orre, but nothing big enough to have a festival over. The only real gatherings that can come close to this were the colosseum battles people come to watch. Seeing such intense battles was what got him the most excited back in the day. However, he had a very hard time comparing a huge battle to a festival seeing how different the two were.
The sheer amount of people attending the festival completely caught him off guard. It got to the point where he needed to stand next to a stand just to get breathing room. He was starting to see how much of a good idea it was to leave his pokémon in their balls. If his Ralts was out she would have been making a big deal about bumping into people, but his Kangaskhan was a whole different story. She might have crushed someone with her big feet.
Yuki started to roam around as there was a fair amount of room between people to walk. Still, he was a bit confused about what to do. He has heard of festivals before, but never attended one in his life. Something will probably catch his attention if he walks around a bit. But with his attention away from where he was walking, he didn't see the dratini slithering by in his path and crushed towards the ground.

Honoka almost didn't notice the guy trip over her Dratini. They'd been walking, minding their own business, Honoka sharing her snacks with the dragon type, when suddenly her Dratini was knocked into her slightly and there was a thud behind them. Honoka turned to see this guy lying on the ground, feet still hanging over her Dratini's tail. She gasped in surprised and bend down as best she could in her Yukata. "Oh my gosh, are you ok?" She had no idea who he was, but she'd tripped over her Pokemon's tail. Which, in and of itself was kind of funny considering a bright blue large dragon snake was hard to miss, but she wanted to make sure she was ok. The amusement shone in her eyes beside the worry, which was etched across the rest of her face. Honoka offered a hand down to the black and purple haired guy to help him up. She didn't see any Pokemon with him, so she wasn't sure if he himself was a trainer or not. But that didn't really matter. Even if a non trainer had tripped she would have helped them up too. She did have to wonder how you could miss a five and a half foot bright blue pokemon, but she'd done similar things when her mind was wandering, so maybe it wasn't too odd. Her Dratini, on the other hand, looked confused but also like it wanted to laugh. He wasn't offended or anything, just confused. No one had ever tripped on Kin before, so he really wasn't sure how to react at all. The Dratini twisted and bent to sniff the guy that tripped over him, trying to decide what to make of him. We're painted red to fit right in When was the last time she'd been at an event like this? Not for a good while, that was for certain. To be completely honest, Elinda had never particularly cared for pomp and flash - if something did what it was supposed to, it was fine, and celebrations in the past had more often simply involved a night at the bar. Or, if she'd been too young at the time, a lot of junk food. Usually spent with only one or two close friends, and often enough out in the wilderness with just whatever had been packed and a camp fire. It wasn't like she'd exactly been a hermit but there were better things to do. Heights to be climbed, challenges to be met, countless ways to improve both herself and her team. Aside from a select few exceptions that eventually formed the core of her life later on those were the only things she'd really ever cared about back in the day, and after that.... well, it'd been family and other life events best not dwelt on. When she'd wandered into Vega it hadn't exactly been with any sort of plan, and the Gala had just been a lot of noise and bright lights from a few streets over - and ever the curious one, that had been enough to get her attention. Now that she was actually there, though, Elinda wasn't sure what to actually do with her time and the opportunity. Not that it seemed to matter to Beldum - the no so little Pokemon was busy zipping about overhead, trying to see as much as he could while Elinda merely wandered through the crowd beneath, red coat and black clothing underneath blending into the chaos for a change. There was one thing, though, that eventually caught the trainer's eye. It was the briefest flash of golden blond, but a moment after and a second glance later once the crowd broke again confirmed it. "HEY! That's three times now-" Elinda shouted out, hands coming up to wave as she began to approach the younger blond only to pause for a moment on seeing that the girl wasn't alone. There was someone else there who the veteran trainer didn't recognize, although it seemed like Honoka's Dratini didn't seem to know him, either. Dropping her arms and sliding her hands back to their usual place in her coat pockets, Elinda took a moment to quietly watch as she approached the pair, only electing to speak again once clear of the surrounding crowd and within direct line of sight, perhaps only two meters away at most. "Oh? New friend of yours? Wasn't expecting to run into you a third time." Elinda continued, voice raised just enough to be heard over the crowd as she spoke from behind Honoka. Beldum - Level 9. Get them while they are still hot! "Enjoy the meal!" Was all the boy said as he waved away the blonde in a friendly manner, stashing the cash into the iron box behind the counter before turning his gaze towards the next customer promptly. At his suggestion, his parents had trekked the way from Shaula to Vega City in order to assist to the Gala together as a family. After a few issues finding each other, with the boy being too distracted by the colors and events going around him to pay real attention to his PokeNav, they had finally managed to spend the festivities together for some time, before his father finally opened up his own stall; after all, it was a festival! Good food was not an option, it was a requirement! Naturally, Doug had jumped at the chance to cook with his dad and help him with the shop once again, and they had cut a swath through the customers quickly. His mother was wandering around the festival and connecting with her new student in the meanwhile. Patting his hands together, the boy blinked as a small beeping sound began coming off his pocket, reaching into it and producing his PokeNav. He grinned at what he saw on the screen. "Hey Dad, break time for me- I'll leave Ledyba behind to help, okay?" He said while glancing over his shoulder, undoing the knots of his apron. His dad, a large man that easily dwarfed the boy, gave him a thumbs up from his side of the stall, serving another group of clients. Nearby him, Turtonator helped keep the pots and containers hot, while handing out the prepared treats to the clients who had already paid; Ledyba helped him with the task, flying around the Stall with multiple foam plates spread over all four of his arms. Seeing everything was in order, Doug crouched and picked up Axew, who had been sitting on the floor of the Stall eating some of the treats, and swung himself over the stall. "Come on, you. Mom said Grandpa also came to the festival. I can't wait to see his face when he gets a load of you." He said with a grin, holding up the Axew, who frowned weakly at him, blushing slightly. She did not care for being showed off much, but was flushed nonetheless the boy thought her worth showing off, considering his usual stance on non bugs. As he walked down the little avenue, he found himself forced to pause, a bit of a road block formed by a mass of people moving on the direction opposite to him on one side, and a trio standing/laying on his way on the other. A young man was tangled in a dragon pokemon, whom Axew eyed curiously, while the blonde girl he had sold food to minutes ago tried to help him up; simultaneously, a woman that seemed vaguely familiar to him tried to engage the girl in conversation. "Uh. Excuse me." He said bluntly to all three of them, tilting a brow.

She'd gone from worrying about the guy who tripped on her Dratini, to grinning in excitement and delight at the sight of an old...new?...friend. Elinda seemed to have popped up again, for the second time unexpectedly, but certainly not unwelcome. She'd heard the initial shout, just barely, over the noise, but hadn't realized it was Elinda until the younger girl actually saw her. She grinned and waved upon seeing Elinda approach. "Hey! I can't say I was expecting to see you here either, but then again you keep surprising me. Its always good to see you though." Her grin sort of morphed into an amused half smirk half grin, which faded more into a confused grimace as she nodded at the guy picking himself up. "I've never met him before. He tripped over Dratini's tail, and I was just asking to see if he was alright." She shrugged, as he hadn't said anything yet, and turned her attention back to Elinda. Her Dratini would unravel itself from the guy who tripped on him as well, and would wrap his tail comfortably around Honoka's feet, preventing anyone from tripping on him again but also preventing anyone from running into their group while they conversed. They'd have to walk around Honoka, and then would see those she was talking to, and they'd just make a berth around the group, probably. It would quirk its head at the Beldum in greeting, remembering the Pokemon fondly from their time in the jungle. "What brings you here? You strike me more as the kind to prefer the company of Pokemon to people, for the most part." She shrugged again. Not that she could blame her, honestly. Some people just weren't worth the company. Elinda was one she would consider worth it, though. She'd been going to ask something else, but promptly lost it as they were interrupted. "Uh. Excuse me."Honoka glanced up, the male voice cutting through the noise of the crowds. She saw the guy who had sold her the food standing behind her, and her mouth made a small "o" of surprise. "Oh! I'm sorry, we're in the way, aren't we? Thank you again for the food from the stall. It's pretty good." She smiled apologetically at him, and made to move to the side a little bit, shuffling her feet against her Dratini's side in an attempt to get him to move. The guy who had tripped on the Pokemon going forgotten for the moment. MADE BY VEL OF GS

We're painted red to fit right in New acquaintance, then? While Honoka's response very much mirrored Elinda's own from a moment ago, the girl's expression changed a bit on the guy being mentioned. Given that they'd met all of two previous times days if not weeks apart the older trainer got the impression that Honoka wasn't the kind of person to really forget names or faces - she'd readily recognized Elinda and her pleased response had very much mirrored the older trainer's. Between that and her response now... Elinda was quite ready to accept the idea that it was just a random passerby she'd collided with on the street. "Would be the first time, has happened enough with my old team. Granted, they all tend to be on the bigger side of things, you'll see when this guy evolves." Elinda replied, eyes dropping to the Dratini and the guy the Pokemon was extracting itself from. Happened often enough in crowded locales, and why Beldum was probably going to be relegated to his Pokeball more often than not after evolving. At least the second time, anyways. Metang still got around by flying more often than not, but Metagross were big and bulky enough that this incident with the Dratini would be mild by comparison. Especially if there were streets and cars involved. And then the next comment followed the first. "... uh. Well. You wouldn't be wrong? I was in the area, really just happened by." Elinda responded, albeit her own expression would be the one to shift this time as it took on a slightly awkward off set the same as her voice just had. Blunt and to the point, that was something she was very used to under normal circumstances. It ran in the family and she'd gotten it all the time from family at home, and Elinda was more than aware that her responses often tended to edge towards brutally honest at times. Not always intentionally, much of the time she spoke before really thinking about what was being said. What she wasn't used to, though, was getting that from a relative stranger. She knew Honoka's name and they'd worked together and the girl wasn't necessarily wrong, but the comment edged just far enough out of the older woman's comfort zone to throw her a bit off balance. Thankfully someone else would step in and relieve Elinda the need to respond. While Honoka seemed to know the kid at least somewhat in passing - apparently one of the people who'd been running one of the many stalls by the street side - he wasn't someone that Elinda herself immediately recognized. She didn't know too many trainers that age beyond the occasional one she'd helped get started back in Lilycove, and most that she'd met on the road or through jobs were somewhere between Honoka and Elinda's own age. That said, though, there was something oddly familiar about him. Nothing she could distinctly put a finger on beyond the hair and eye color, almost an exact inversion of Elinda's own. At the same time, though... she'd only ever seen that eye color maybe twice before, and now that she actually stopped to think about it... kid definitely looked like a trainer. If not due to his clothes, his hands and general skin tone gave it away as someone who spent quite a lot of time outdoors, and there was a general vibe people like that gave off which wasn't entirely explainable through words. Expression shifting from awkward discomfort to thoughtful as her gaze settled on the new arrival to the party, Elinda would casually pull one of her hands from a pocket, Nav held in its grip. Flicking the device on as the other two spoke, the blond quickly flicked over to the Match Call function. One of the nice things about the PokeNav and one of the main reasons Elinda preferred the device over others like the Gear or the Poketch more common to the Sinnoh region was its ability to automatically register nearby trainers with similar devices. It made contacting them for rematches much easier and eliminated the awkwardness that came with trying to recall or manually enter the information, especially if you forgot to ask for it. In cases like this, though, it also served to give you a good idea of who you were talking to. Often it was quite useless in crowds or events like this as it was picking up additional devices even as the blond began searching through recent and nearby contacts, but there was one name the stood out. Or at least Elinda felt it did. It was hard to be sure after over ten years and multiple different names at the time with one of them seemingly an afterthought, but.... "..... Jun?" Elinda muttered, eyes squinting a bit as she looked from her Nav to the boy, back to the Nav and them him again as if peering more carefully at both would give any clearer an answer. It was entirely possible she was wrong and likely probable, but at the same time she'd only met someone with that hair color once before even if one set the unusual eye color aside.

Get them while they are still hot! "Yup." Replied the boy bluntly, his tone somewhat carefree and not aligning with the rudeness of his response. He began walking past the girl as she shuffled out of the path, grinning at the comment on the food. "Oh, glad you liked it! We worked real hard on refining the recipes back home!" There were dishes that were traditional to festivals; naturally, his father and him had worked to both provide them to the public and improve on them. Axew walked rolled her eyes, plopping down on her butt besides her trainer as he began talking. The youth could run his mouth for far too long if prompted. Looking at the -older looking, yet surprisingly shorter girl- up and down, the boy gave her a thumbs up, more out of cultural pride than anything. "That looks pretty good by the way! Reminds me of the kimono girls of Johto." He commented; mind you, a yukata and a kimono weren't quite the same... but potato, po-ta-to, a difference in fabric hardly invalidated the comparison. He didn't really pay attention to the blonde woman again until she spoke up to him, calling out his name. Well, almost. "Wrong." He denied bluntly almost immediately, waggling index from side to side. "Jun- fan. You gotta say the entire thing." Informed the boy. "I prefer Doug when chatting with westerners though; they get the pronunciation wrong way too often. Which- is why it's the one on my PokeNav account..." He finished slowly, blinking at the woman. "Huh. Have we met before?" He asked, tilting a thin brow at her. He was pretty certain he had never seen this woman in his life. He didn't know a whole lot of blonde people as it was. Had she gotten his business card from someone else? But he hadn't distributed the cards that much yet. The boy narrowed his eyes at the woman, not so much as a threat as it was in concentration, his lips pursing. "... !!!" His mouth opened, "I really can't say I've ever met you, ma'am."

Honoka chuckled lightly at Elinda's response about the guy tripping. "You'd think they'd be able to see large, brightly colored Pokemon and know to avoid it. But if one is lost in thought, I suppose it might not be too hard to have happen." She raised an eyebrow slightly at Elinda's next response. It seemed a little awkward and halting, but it was enough, really. Plus, she didn't get further chance to answer. Her apology would go accepted and then the two would get distracted. She'd grin bashfully at his approval of her yukata. "My grandmother was from Johto. Even though I'm Kalosian, I'm used to with many Johtoen traditions." Elinda seemed like she knew the guy from the stall, Honoka watching the exchange curiously. She was watching Elinda wrack her brain, looking between her Nav and the stall boy whose name she now learned was Doug. Or, Jun-fan? Either way? Honoka would shift onto one foot, pulling out another octopus ring and munching on it as she watched the exchange. Doug/Jun-fan seemed to recognize Elinda as well, but it doesn't sound like they'd ever actually met before. So how did Elinda know him? Did he look like someone else? Was there some other connection? Employer and employee perhaps? "So, I take it you know each other? Er...kind of know each other?" She quirked an eyebrow at the pair, studying both of their faces as they tried to figure each other as well. MADE BY VEL OF GS

We're painted red to fit right in Oh, this was a surprise. Not an entirely unwelcome one, however, and while Elinda initially didn't react to the boy's confirmation of his name a small, sly smile would begin to place itself upon the older trainer's face. Technology had a habit of making the world a smaller and smaller place as the years went by, but fact of the matter was that it really only applied when you wanted to find someone. If you were just wandering around it was still big enough that you could spend your entire life trying to see everything it had to offer an still not even come close, and that left a lot of room for people to get lost in the chaos of it all. A rule that very much seemed to apply to both sides of her and her husband's families. They were relatively isolated from both out in Hoenn, and that habit of spreading out seemed to run in both bloodlines. Elinda couldn't remember the last time she'd really seen or spoken to her brothers since her childhood years, and while the other family seemed to be at least a little closer knit, enough to stay in contact when they needed to be... "Maybe not, but I've met you. In a manner of speaking, anyways, not really surprised you don't remember me since it was easily ten years ago now." Elinda started, answering both individuals' questions and contradicting Doug's last statement in one fell swoop. It was a strange way to be reminded of how much time had actually passed since her last stint as a traveling trainer, or at least the tail end of those days. Elinda never really thought about it much with her own kids since it had been a gradual change there, but to suddenly see the kid of the in laws when her last memory of him was as an infant... by now he had to be about her own kids' age, or at least relatively close. "So? How long've you been a trainer for?" Elinda continued, crossing her arms and leaning back on a leg as she quite clearly began giving the boy a much more detailed look of appraisal. Newer trainers were a fascinating study in potential. No way to know how far they would go, no way to know which way they'd go. Plenty quit while they were ahead, unable or unwilling to keep with the commitment that the lifestyle demanded of them, but.... difficult to say with him. On the one hand he may very well find himself preferring his father's more structured lifestyle given how random and chaotic a professional trainer's life could be by comparison, but at the same time there was the other side of the family to consider. Blackthorn's Dragon clans didn't do things halfway, and while his mother might've been a Fighting type specialist the mindset still ran true with her as far as Elinda could remember. Plenty of potential there, to be sure, but how much of it was out on display was impossible to really say without actually seeing him go to work. "And you, too? What part of Johto, might I ask?" Elinda continued, eyes drifting off of Doug and over to Honoka as she made a comment about her own lineage. Kalos was one of the few regions she'd never been able to directly visit, and while that had her attention to a point... plenty of people she knew from Johto, and that was what had her focus. Most of the trainers from the group Elinda had traveled with as a teen had come from either Kanto or Johto, and most had retired back to their hometowns or some other portion of their respective regions. Highly unlikely given that Honoka had claimed her grandmother as the tie to Johto, but it was always an interesting exercise to see where such ties potentially led.

Get them while they are still hot! Doug nodded at Honoka's words, being able to relate. "Yeah, my mom and grandpa are from Johto too. I was born in Shaula, which is kinda similar to their old home. Was raised as a kid from Johto, or so I was told; my dad says he managed to sneak in a bit of Unovan heritage in there though." He said the last part with a grin, patting his stomach and winking playfully. His mother was very conservative with what she ate, even though she adored everything his dad and he could put in her plate. There was simply no convincing her of eating past a certain point. Health and what not. He and his father though? If left alone they could eat through a full pantry in a few days. If his father had been left in charge of raising him entirely on his own, he would probably have been quite rounder. Luckily his mother had made it a point to whip him (and his father) into shape, thinking that even if they didn't take an interest in martial arts, not being obese was always good. The boy was positive he had never met the blonde woman, but she claimed to have met him before. 10 years before, to be exact. "What, really?" He asked, disbelief in his tone as he crossed his arms over his chest, cocking his head to the side. He tried to remember such a meeting, but he would have only been two, maybe three years old back then if he had really met the woman. "Are you a friend of mom's? Dad's?" His mother didn't have a whole lot of friends and he most of his father's could be found in Shaula these days, the man not really one to live in the past. At her question, he pursed his lips, cocking his head slightly to the side. How long had he been a trainer now? Bunch of weeks? A month or so, perhaps? He hadn't really been counting the days. "Not sure. A month or a couple of 'em?" He said, not quite sure why it was important. Though now that he thought about it... man, it had possibly been 2 months and he had only gotten one badge down? At that rate it would take him forever to get anywhere! Better start kicking it up a notch.

Several consecutive booms echoed in the distance, each one louder than the previous. Smoke and screams filled the air. Civilians scattered all about in fear and confusion. Everyone was trying to find shelter, friends, family, Pokemon and an escape. It wasn’t certain what was going on … until the men and women in the tactical gear, suits, and gas masks showed up. They moved with predatory efficiency, chasing the Gala goers out of the area. The ones who tried to stay and fight were promptly identified and engaged in battle.
There was no doubt: it was Team Crux.
Eventually, a stranger approached Honoka, Elinda and Doug. She was a well-dressed woman with tanned skin wearing a proper, purple business suit with shiny, black dress shoes. Her jet black hair was medium length and put up into a bun. “I would suggest that the three of you get out of here,” the woman advised. “It’s only going to get worse the longer you stay here.” She seemed oddly calm about the chaos erupting around her, way too calm. Multiple Team Crux members saw the woman, chatted among themselves, nodded in her direction and split up to find more trainers trying to make a stand.
“So please, get out now.” It wasn’t a request. It was a demand.

So, Elinda knew him, but he didn't seem to remember Elinda. He did look fairly young, so she must have known him as a baby or something. That would make sense as to why he didn't remember her but she remembered him. It was admittedly kind of interesting watching Elinda size him up, as she seemed to do when she met other trainers. She'd met plenty of capable young trainers before, and some who didn't start until later, like herself. She was fairly new to the Stellara trainer scene, but it sounded like she had a few years on this kid in general. Like him, she was a late bloomer. She didn't start until she was twelve, almost thirteen, so she'd only been a trainer for two and a half years or so now. He looked to be around how old she was when she started, maybe a little older. "Uh, if I remember right, my grandmother was from Olivine City. She moved to Kalos when she married my grandfather, and I was born there. Only been here for a few months now." She answered Elinda's question, and grinned at Doug's mention of Unovan culture. That would explain the food from the stall being as good as it was. "Nothing like the Unovans, right?" She watched with amusement as Doug try to grill Elinda some more, trying to figure out where she knew him from or how. She was admittedly curious, too, especially since they randomly ran into one another here. Small world, sometimes, she supposed. A sudden explosion in the midst of their conversation rocked the ground, followed by several more. Part of her wondered at first if there were fireworks going off nearby, but that would have been wrong. They didn't explode on the ground unless an accident happened, and judging by the sudden swarm of men in gas masks and people running and screaming - and fighting? - she had a feeling that it wasn't fireworks. Especially when a woman in a, frankly quite nice looking, purple suit approached them and demanded they leave none too kindly. Leave? And why should they? They were trainers after all, if it wasn't already evident by the Pokemon out among them. And she would go on to say as much. "Leave? Why? Didn't you hear those explosions? People could be hurt! We're trainers, capable ones I might add, so we can help. What if you don't have enough men to save everyone? I'm not going to leave them to fend for themselves." Rude though she was, Honoka's first and foremost thought were the people who weren't trainers, or those who only kept Pokemon for company. They were probably terrified. Plus, she wasn't exactly keen on being ordered around. This was just an easy way to ignore it. Something in her gut was telling her to stay, and it took her a moment to notice that some of the commotion seemed to be the men trying to force people out, and getting into battles with other trainers who refused. What the hell? MADE BY VEL OF GS

We're painted red to fit right in Ah. Well, Elinda knew it was unlikely given the relative age that Honoka's grandmother had to be but it'd been worth asking. Not anyone she wouldn't known from the sound of it, though - most of the trainers she'd traveled with had been from Kanto and Sevii, with the two out of Johto hailing from Blackthorn and Cianwood. She'd certainly been to Olivine on three separate occasions while her group had been touring the regional Gym circuit and again years later when they'd needed a quick and easy way to get from Johto to Hoenn and once more when making the same trip in reverse. That wasn't the same as being able to claim that you actually knew anyone from the city, though. Like Slateport it was a large and densely populated area with a thriving international market, and the odds of running into anyone that you weren't actually looking for there were pretty low. Concerning Doug's line of questioning, though... perhaps a bit complicated given how rarely Elinda saw her own family, in laws aside. Friend? Maybe, but not quite. Certainly a bit more than an acquaintance, though, but the exact words were ones that eluded the blond's grasp as she struggled to think of a proper label for those particular relationships. Words had never really been one of her strong points as Elinda had never really liked to beat around the bush when it came to talking about things. "Wwwell, uh-" Elinda started, drawing out the first word in an attempt to buy herself a bit more time to respond when the sound of something exploding both denied the blond the chance and simultaneously freed her from needing to respond then and there. More to the point, it was something that completely demanded her own attention as Elinda's blood ran cold as the first dull boom was followed by another and another, accompanied by the sounds of people screaming. Old habits died hard and even before the trainer realized it her left hand was dipping down to grab a Pokeball that wasn't there anymore - Scizor and Aggron hadn't come to Stellara with her. Both were back in Hoenn still, and largely because she'd assumed she wouldn't need them here. Even if it felt like a lifetime ago, though, Elinda was mentally kicking herself for not bringing at least one of them as Beldum certainly seemed to remember as well. The moment the sounds had gone off the Pokemon had suddenly pivoted to face the direction they'd come from, dipping low to hover against his partner's shoulder and single red eye darting over the street for potential threats. And as the crowd began to flee and split, Elinda saw them. People who definitely didn't belong and who had come prepared for trouble or with the intent to cause it - and those who didn't run were promptly engaged in battles. Much more civil and humane than what Elinda herself was used to, but there was no denying that these people were trained and not to be trifled with. And emerging from the fleeing crowd was one individual who was far too calm, a woman who noticed the three trainers and began to approach them before speaking. Dressed as thought she'd come from a board meeting Elinda's first thought would have been that this woman was lost had it not been for her stance and demeanor. The blond didn't know who woman was but Elinda could tell the suited woman was definitely of the opinion that she belonged there even before they'd spoken - and then the sight of the Team members not only taking note of the woman but breaking away from all four individuals only sealed it. Whoever she was the suited woman was with these people attacking the Gala. "Ju- Doug. Are your mother and father here?" Elinda asked, her earlier smile and awkwardness gone. Even as Elinda said that, though, she didn't take her eyes off of the suit for even a moment. Judging from the grunts' perfect willingness to leave her alone with three different individuals - all clearly trainers - they seemed to be very much of the opinion that the woman could hold her own against them. And going off of their performance so far they were probably right. They didn't seem to be taking chances with the other trainers elsewhere now that the street was clearing out as the civilians fled the area, and it seemed like a massive oversight to leave three people to one person when you had the manpower to spare. Going off of previous experience and gut instinct... this woman was probably the equivalent of a Pillar in Obscuras, an admin in any of the more traditional Teams that seemed endemic to each region. Not something that Elinda was able to fight now, and not something she would assume the other two were prepared for, either. Maybe in her prime and maybe if she had her other two original travel partners with her, both of whom had seen the worst Tokai had to offer... but not now. "Last I checked he wasn't a trainer, you may want to see to him before anything else. And might I at least ask who and why?" Elinda continued, directing her comment first to Doug and then directing her words to the other adult as she slowly began to extract a pair on nondescript black gloves from her pockets, pulling them over each hand. With her own stance neutral the last thing the blond wanted to do was provoke a fight that she was fairly sure they couldn't win, and if nothing else a few words would hopefully buy enough time for Doug to both consider his priorities and for Honoka to catch onto what was going on. If Mei was here she would likely be fine - given family history Elinda doubted that she would jump headfirst into conflict of any sort, especially if she was still taking on students. As for Honoka... realization seemed to be catching up once she began taking note of the other trainers being engaged by their attackers. Too many for them to be of any help - even if they could beat this woman in a fight they'd likely get swarmed by grunts seeking to help their boss.

What the f-? "Olivine?" he echoed the girl, his brows furrowing slightly as he brought a hand to his chin. "Never been there myself, to be honest. My grandparents lived in Blackthorn. I always spent summer at their home until I was like... Seven or eight, I think." He thought he could remember visiting Goldenrod with his grandpa and grandma at some point, but they were very vague memories. The boy snorted at the Unovan comment. "I think it may actually just be dad's side in this case." He said with a smirk, remembering how heavy set his father had been when his mother first began running them through exercises in the morning. Even to this day, the man's staunch refusal to any sort of diet had kept a considerable amount of healthy fat in his gut. At least the rest of his body had never looked better. The blonde woman seemed to be about to respond to him, but before she could the boy remembered something. "Hey, I don't think I've actually heard your names-" He started- Before the dull sound of an explosion going off in the background made him nearly bite his tongue. "- The hell was that?" He asked just in time for another set of explosions to go off right after the first, each louder than the last. With no light shows high in the sky and the horizon lighting up in orange and yellow, there was little doubt that this was not a fireworks show. The smoke and screaming that followed shortly after cemented it, and the boy found himself hugging his Axew tightly to his chest as the panicking of the people quickly began to fill in the silence left around them in the explosion's wake. Men in distinctive suits and gas masks suddenly began to flood the avenues around them, scaring off some of the gala's visitors, rounding out the more ballsy ones that tried to fight them off. This was the first time he was seeing them in person, but definitely not the first time he had ever seen them. His mother had spent the better part of the last 3 years pounding into him everything she knew as fast as could be afforded just on the chance that he ran into these people. "Ah shit. Team Crux." Muttered the boy under his breath, his hand reaching under his jacket for one of his pokeballs, before it froze in place. His mother and his grandfather were in the city when those explosions had gone off... weren't they? A strange woman had approached them as this rolled around in his head. She looked dressed to impress and had the air of mathematician spectating a baseball game; completely uninterested in what was going around her. Bizarre, to say the least. Doug couldn't care less, shushing everyone around him irritably as he began ringing his mother's number on his PokeNav. A number of beeps followed, before the machine's message informed her she was unavailable. The process was repeated three more times, before the boy slowly lowered the phone down, biting hard on the inside of his cheek. Strange. How many times had his mother ever not picked the phone...? Oh right, never. He rang a different number. "Dad? I'm fine. Where are you? Looking for me? I'm fine, forget about me; can you reach mom? Oh, she called you earlier?" He said, a smile beginning to bloom on his lips- before it immediately became a scowl. "She was cut off? Are you sure?" A short silence followed. "Got it. No, I'm fine. Go look for mom. I'll go looking into the city too. See you in a while." He said, before slamming the PokeNav closed. "You guys can leave if you want. We'll keep talking about the other stuff later." He said. "To answer your question... Mom's not picking up. Dad will be fine; he has Volcarona with 'im." He said to the two women, before turning towards the city, twitching slightly as he set Axew on his head. He was having a hard time not breaking into a full sprint towards the city; there was an alien sensation filling his chest, and he did not much care for it. "Sorry, lady." He said to the strange woman in the pimp suit, "Can't leave yet; my mom's still in the city. Later."
