A certain Pokemon wanders around the deck like an excited kid. He greeted several fellow passengers with a cheerful roar and a bit of friendly tail wag. Some thinks it's cute, some goes some more by patting him on the head, but whatever the case was, their reaction was mostly friendly. He also love the attention he's getting. After taking some free foods from one of the waiter around the deck, he returned to his trainer's side, gently nibbling his hand.
"C'mon Rex, told you my hand's not a toy..."
(But it's fun and squishy!)
"...Yeah, squishy... no, seriously, don't do it."
(Aww...)
The one who talked with him is a boy in Alolan ace trainer clothes. He has passed some qualification to be one at the very least, although his Pokemon is at level 5, just like other starter Pokemon. His reason to go here was not because he was already so pro on the other region, no, he just want to see places outside of his own small island region. He hoped to broaden his horizon... And he hoped to understand why his father would leave such a sweet woman like his mother.
The sea breeze blew on his face. It felt pleasant. From the toot of the ship, he knew that they'll arrive soon. After letting several passenger to go ahead from him, Reyn also stepped his foot on the harbor and goes directly to the customs, just like few other tourists. After it's approved, he immediately came out and stretched his body. "Well, then... I guess I should visit the Pokemon Center later and see if I can call home to tell Mom I've arrived."
(We'll talk with your mom?)
"Yeah Rex. Tell her that we've arrived and all."
(Can we take it easy today? I really love the smell of the places here! Look at those flowers growing...)
Rex approached one of the flowerbed and started sniffing. Oh well, it can't be helped...

The journey west from Cyngi City had been easier than Edwin had first thought. So much so that he felt a little disappointed. While he was glad he hadn't encountered any hostilities, well, he needed to train Arkady somehow. Indeed, he had met some trainers, but, after realizing Arkady wasn't strong enough to face them, they passed on the question of whether to battle or not.
The little Noibat on his shoulder didn't mind. He was glad he didn't meet hostile pokemon along the way, he even made friends with a few passing wild pokemon.
But, the feeling of disappointment didn't last long. Here Edwin was at the coastal city of Eridani. The delightful salty smell of the seabreeze made both trainer and pokemon feel relaxed and excited.
("Ooh, can we get some fresh fish for dinner?") the Noibat asked. He then paused. ("Wait, what are fish?") he wondered. When Edwin didn't answer other than chuckling and reaching up to pet him, he realized he forgot that Edwin couldn't understand him. ("I really need a better way to speak with humans") he sighed.
"Well, we gotta try the local food here for sure" Edwin remarked. Arkady was satisfied. Maybe Edwin could understand him?
First thing first, they would best head to the pokemon center. It had been a while since Edwin had called home after all. So Edwin walked in that direction. Arkady looked around as excitedly as a kid in a candy store at all the others. And eventually, his attention was diverted to another pokemon sniffing flowers. Arkady hadn't seen a pokemon like him before, but, he could tell right away he was a fellow Dragon type! They simply had to have a chat! Besides, those flowers smelled nice.
"Arkady? Where are you going?" Edwin asked as the Noibat took flight. He relaxed as he saw him landing nearby next to a flower garden, giving a little wave with his wing-paw.
("Hiya! How's it going?") Arkady asked the Tyrunt. ("Is there something special about these flowers?") he asked curiously, wondering what he was up to.
Edwin meanwhile had his pokedex out, showing him the information about this pokemon. It was a Tyrunt, a fossil pokemon. Wow, that was interesting. He wondered if its trainer was nearby.

His little flower smelling session was interrupted (albeit rather pleasantly) by an appearance of another Pokemon, this one is friendly. Rex sniffed at him before deciding that this one is a friend!
(Doing good, how about yourself, flying pal?) Rex greeted cheerfully, although for the passing onlooker, it's probably just "Gya gya" like all Pokemon. His body language is friendly at the very least. (Well, there are nothing really special about flowers. Flowers are flowers, you know? They're beautiful and smells nice. I just love to stop around to smell the flowers and, you know, just enjoy the time? Relaxing?)
"Rex, who's that?"
(Ah, sorry. Winged bud, this is my trainer, Reyn. Reyn, meet my winged bud.)
"Hmmm? Ah, that's a Noibat, Rex."
(Oh, a Noibat?)
"Multitype, Dragon and Flying. I guess he's similar to you."
(Oooh, we match, we match!) hearing that, Rex danced around his new friend, then happily wagged his tail.
For onlooker, perhaps this scene is funny, especially when the youth seem to understand Pokemon language as good as he understand human language. At first, he wondered if it's a wild Pokemon, but from how it carried itself, not even afraid to approach places where human are, then most likely that it's owned. That's when his eyes landed on a certain youth, older than he is, but seem to be the owner of the the Noibat. Ah, this seem gonna be a bit of a pain, so the youth thought, but before he could even say that, suddenly Rex already took off and approached the man!
"H-hey, Rex!"
(Hello there glassy eyes---eeh, that sounds odd, but whatever! Glassy eyes, are you the trainer of this flying buddy? He's really friendly, can I play with him? Can I? Can I?) of course Rex cannot speak human, but he's positive that his enthusiasm is being conveyed properly.

Arkady was delighted when the other pokemon reacted in a friendly way. ("Hiya! My name's Arkady!") he said, cheerfully. As well, to humans, his words would be interpreted as "Yah! Nyah!" but he hoped other pokemon could understand.
The dinosaur buddy said that there wasn't anything particularly special about the flowers, just they smelled nice. ("Ooh, yeah, I agree!") Arkady said, sniffing them too. Of course he couldn't identify the exquisite properties of them, he'd need to be a grass type pokemon to do that. Still though, it was a nice thought.
Soon enough, the dinosaur buddy's trainer came along. Arkady looked up at him, immediately wondering if he could be Edwin's friend. Yes, the Noibat cared about him so much that this was often what his first thoughts would be, given how Edwin found it so hard to be friendly with other humans like he was with other pokemon.
Edwin by now was at the scene, and was glad that their pokemon seemed to be getting along. "Hi there" he said to the Tyrunt's trainer. "Well, uh, seems our pokemon seem to be getting along" he chuckled a little nervously. But he smiled as the Tyrunt seemed to be celebrating something.
("Oh! Yay! We do match!") Arkady cheered, dancing around Rex as well as he heard they were both Dragon types.
Then Rex rushed up to Edwin, calling him glassy-eyes. Arkady followed him, ready to introduce his partner.
("Rex, this is my partner Edwin") he said. He snickered as Rex called him glass-eyes. ("Yeah, he says he has to wear them to see properly") he clarified. ("He still has real eyes behind them though").
Arkady's yellow eyes then gleamed with delight as Rex asked Edwin if he could play with him. The Noibat nodded his head enthusiastically, which was at least a way the pokemon could tell humans he approved of something.
"Well, uh, I don't really know what you're asking, but, sure, I guess" Edwin said. Arkady squeaked with delight.
("Okay! Awesome! What do ya wanna play?") Arkady asked Rex eagerly. Edwin looked back at the Tyrunt's trainer.
"So, hey, my name's Edwin" he said. "Nice to meet you and your Tyrunt" he grinned.

'Sup again, Four-eyes. He supposed this wasn't too bad. It was certainly raking in the cash. Eridani City was packed with tourists most of the time, and streets vendors made sure to take the opportunity this provided to make quick cash out of the unsuspecting tourists, who didn't know any better. Most street vendors weren't too bad, but they were certainly not what the tourists were looking for when they thought of the city's famous cuisine. Cept for his food-stand, clearly. He had only accepted to help one of the vendors this morning, intending to make some quick cash out of it. Unfortunately, people just kept coming back with friends. Unfortunately being a relative term; he certainly was raking in the cash now. For the vendor that is; he had agreed to a rather paltry sum, all things considered. But he was too nice to leave the man now. On top of his head, the sounds of his Joltik gorging itself up with a snack made him roll his eyes. "Well, at least one of us is enjoying himself, eh?" He grumbled, side eyeing his other pokemon, Larvesta, who was making sure to keep the pots fiery. At least she seemed to be enjoying herself. Being behind the stand, nobody but Doug was paying attention to her. Just like she liked it. Doug worked as swiftly as he always did while in a kitchen, his knife work blazingly fast and borderline reckless. Specially since he wasn't particularly looking at what he was doing, keeping a bored eye on the streets. He could have cut off a finger by accident, but hey, if he hadn't been looking at the streets, he wouldn't have noticed Four-eyes. His eyes brightened; an acquaintance! Finally! He was so bored!
Breathing in deeply, the boy suddenly bellowed. "HEY, ED! OVER HERE! HERE!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, his clients jumping in shock just as he slid a couple of plates their way. He noticed the other guy in the cool clothes nearby. "IS THAT A NEW FRIEND? BRING HIM OVER!" He said, waving his knife hand a bit too recklessly.

(Arkady is a nice name!) Rex praised. (Guess you have heard but name's Rex. I'm from Alola... although apparently Momma said my fossil is from Kalos. She once showed me a 'fossil', and it looks weird! It's not like eggs where Pokemon born normally! I wonder if she's drunk when she told me that. No way a rock can gave birth to a Pokemon! ...Oh, Momma is how I call Reyn's mother! She's not my mother.)
Meanwhile, Reyn just smiled wryly at the Pokemon's animated talking. He even snorted when he heard about how his mother is drunk when she showed him the fossil and how Rex mimicked a gesture of someone intoxicated. Still, for some reason, this time around he heard the other guy clearly. He's seem to be a bit nervous, but at least he's not the noisy type. Rex looked at him, like pleading to at least try to socialize a bit.
"...Can't win against those eyes. Hi there, they're seem to hitting it off great."
Seem the other guy cannot really understand Pokemon. That's fine, not everyone understands them. "...Let's see... the gist of it is Rex is asking... who's your friend's name, bud? Arkady? That's a nice name. So he want to play with Arkady, hope you don't mind."
Although... glassy eyes... silly Rex.
(Real eyes? Oh right! I never saw anyone using those) Rex mimicking gesture of someone putting in glasses (It's strange to wear those. Are you sure that it's doing all that well in making him seeing better? Does that mean if he took it off he could see someone inside a building with a glass but not someone who is outside? That's just strange!)
Once again, Reyn tried his best to contain his laughter. It doesn't work like that, but it was just so funny that he didn't have the heart to correct him.
Still, it'll be rude if he did not answer the introduction. "Reyn Alria. I'm from Alola, this one's Rex, although you probably have heard that."
...and now, he heard something else, like someone shouting, waving a knife... Oh dear, what? What does the stall guy wanted? This is bad... when he's focused on Pokemon, anything that far won't be heard by him. Such a selective hearing, but he doesn't even know why would his hearing become that selective.
"...Rex, could you...?" Reyn asked, leaving the sentence trailing. Of course the Tyrunt understands his partner's 'abnormality' all too well.
(The guy is inviting Edwin to his... uh, what is it called? Stall? Apparently he want us to come too.)
"...Eeeh... that sounds a bit..."
(It's OK right? I'm hungry!)
"Well, I guess that's fine..." at time like this, he hoped that he have other Pokemon with him. His hearing could suddenly closed to these humans. If Rex and Arkady decided to play after eating then he guess he'll be forced to read their lips. He's never good at it.
"...So, are you going to meet him?" Reyn asked to Edwin.

Arkady was paying full attention to Rex and was delighted that he was so sociable. ("Ooh! You're from Alola?!") he asked, wiggling with excitement. ("That place sounds so awesome! There being the Island Challenge and the Tapu Guardians... ooh, I'd love to go there one day!") he squeaked.
Arkady giggled along with Rex about the subject of humans being drunk. Yeah, he saw humans like that before. Not his good hardworking Edwin though!
Edwin then listened to Reyn, who seemed to understand his pokemon's intentions a little better. It seemed that Rex wanted to play with Arkady a little. He smiled at this. "Oh! Yep, sure, your pokemon can play with Arkady" he said, delighted. At least it wasn't a battle.
Edwin turned and looked to see that Doug was here as well. Immediately he froze up. Oh, god, was he wanting to have a battle here too? Edwin instantly jarred up with nervousness. Was he going to have to be forced to have a battle in front of someone he just met and thought he might be friends with? Would Arkady be defeated and lose any chance of becoming friends with the pokemon he just met that seemed to like him? Edwin was slightly disturbed at how quickly he came to the worst class scenario, but, well, he remembered to simply take deep breaths and take things as they came.
"Er, yeah... I've met that guy" Edwin explained to Reyn. "He's a trainer that likes battles" he continued, remembering his challenge. But Edwin had steadfastly refused to agree to battle him on their first encounter. And he would refuse again on this occasion, because he didn't want to battle anyone today.
Well, supposing he'd best not be rude, Edwin walked toward Doug to chat. Meanwhile, Arkady was more interested in playing with Rex for the moment.
"Hey, Doug" Edwin said to the boy. "Looks like we've met up again. How's it going?" he asked, curious about if he had met or caught any other pokemon these past few days.

Top Tier Customer Service.
Where they coming? Yes, it looked like they were coming. With that thought in mind, the boy went back to cutting the ingredients at a brisk pace, the sound of the knife hitting the cutting board almost like a tiny jackhammer. Once the ingredients were chopped into fine pieces, the boy casually swiped them into a large cooking pot, the stew inside boiling from the sustained flame Larvesta kept underneath it. He yanked a freshly bought fish from a refrigerated storage under the counter and laid it on the cutting table, grasping it by the mouth and pressing the knife to its lips before suddenly swiping all the way through it, cleaving the creature in half before cutting it down into cubes and swiping them into the cooking pot. He had just begun carefully adding a few spices into the pot when Edwin and company finally got close enough for him to not have to shout, the boy, grinning at the bespectacled man without stopping his task. "Hey Ed! Sorry for shouting, wasn't sure if you would hear me over the crowd otherwise." He said. On top of his head, Joltik very lazily opened a single one of its four eyes, giving Edwin and company a once over before going back to resting. "Well, I've been cooking all over the place, there's that. Needed the cash, you know?" Said the boy in response to the question, carelessly prodding at his own chin with the sharp knife. "Travelling is super expensive. Well, staying in nice places is anyway. I'm considering just getting a tent at this rate, though. Wasting too much time working, haven't been able to train the boys and girls." He didn't seem too upset about it; mostly just inconvenienced by his apparent perpetual poverty. "To be honest, this job is terribly dull. I enjoy cooking, but I don't generally care much for seafood, and these tourists don't care for small talk." he shrugged, grinning sheepishly. "Saw you and though, 'oh hey, social activity!'" He snorted, winking. "Sorry about that. Mind keeping me company for a while? Larvesta could use a little break, and friends." He gestured towards his head, were his Joltik still lazed. "I don't want this character to become a role model of hers if I can help it." He said, stabbing the knife on the cutting board before crouching behind the counter. "Larvesta, babe?" He said very casually to his pokemon, petting her fur. "You've done a great job today." A happy chirp was heard behind the counter. "Yup. I think you've earned yourself a break, actually." A not as happy, slightly confused chirp followed. "Yes, a break. A social break to be specific." A not so happy chirp. "Yes, socialize. You know, that thing you avoid like the plague. Now get out of my kitchen." What followed was Larvesta being hoisted over the boy's shoulder and placed outside of the stall. "And make some friends." He said, pointing her in the other two pokemon's directions. "One of them even tried before. You may want to apologize about that." He said as he picked the stabbed knife, yanking it off the table. "Do your best, girl!" He said, before turning his gaze back towards Edwin and his large friend. "So how's life been for you? Other than working, I've added a new girl to the party recently. Bit of a handful, but I enjoy her sass." he commented, moving his gaze towards Edwin's friends. "I think I asked this before, but, friend of yours? I'm Doug, pleasure to meet'cha. You an ace trainer? You look like one."
