Edwin is a young man that often dresses professionally. He normally carries around a large notebook and pencil as he writes down observations and things of interest. Since he likes his starter, he is often seen with Arkady on his shoulder.
Edwin is unable to read without glasses, so he wears them at all times, except when he's sleeping. When he's walking, he generally has a vacant or dreamy expression on his face as he thinks, although of course he focuses when there's a new, dangerous or interesting situation at hand.
Edwin rarely travels, but when he does, he dresses in more sturdy outdoor gear and carries his essentials in a backpack.
Edwin is something of an introvertive dreamer that's curious about the world around him. He's generally nice to other people, but shy, and only really opens up to his pokemon. While he can't exactly understand pokespeak, he can at least get the gist of what they're saying, and is convinced that they can understand human speech.

Edwin is fairly well educated and has studied a lot about pokemon. However, he doesn't really consider himself much of a trainer at first. But, an event occurred recently that shook himself out of this mindset and that it's important for pokemon to learn how to defend themselves, hence him deciding to begin to learn how to be a good trainer.
Edwin tends to shy away from things that involve heavy physical work as he is not a very strong person. However, he is the type that is able to recognize his own weaknesses and is at peace with it.
While a naturally curious person, Edwin hasn't travelled the world much, and leads a rather sheltered life. However, he would eventually like to be close enough to someone to become friends, as he is with Arkady. At the moment, he has few others that he truly cares about other than his family and pokemon partner. Still though, Edwin's recently changed mindset has him more willing to try out new things.
BACKGROUND
Edwin was born to Trent and Kate Armadale in Saiph City. He is a single child.
Edwin has led a somewhat sheltered life, with his parents emphasizing the need for education rather than going out on his own as soon as possible on a pokemon adventure. His parents used to work as research assistants to a local pokemon professor before beginning research careers of their own, and gave Edwin insight into how a pokemon science works.
Edwin for the most part was okay with this, and for his 13th birthday, he received a Noibat to keep him company as a pet, whom he named Arkady. Edwin grew to like him, but didn't train him for battle.
Edwin was about to begin a career in Lacaille City to begin fieldwork, but was attacked by a wild pokemon along the way, and Arkady nearly died trying to protect him. It was this that made Edwin decide that he needed to begin training him properly if they were to get around in this region.

He likes to fly, but like Edwin, is a bit shy about going too far away. However, in times of danger, Arkady will fight for Edwin as hard as he can, even risking his life if he has to.
Training Arkady for battle is a little difficult, since he's such a friendly pokemon that he would have to be pressed fairly hard to fight another, but it's a work in progress. Eventually, Arkady will understand that sometimes he simply has to battle to prevent bad things happening to him and his partner, and understands how much Edwin cares for him.
