Family friendly fun. Vega City was not a place that she and her family had frequented much. Vacation generally took them abroad, and as a general rule, if she could choose a more secluded place such as a private cabin or beach house over a hotel room, she would. Her free time was for her to enjoy her family, not suffer everyone else. Sadly, her less social tendencies weren't shared by her husband and son, who were all too happy to go into loud, crowded spaces if given the opportunity. So here they were. Her son had called them both, hoping to spend some time with them over the weekend and brag about his new badge. Naturally, she obliged, happy to see his mood had improved considerably since the time she had made him a gym leader. Which brought her to this situation. Where in the world was that boy? Looking down at her PokeNav, she considered giving him another call. But it was unlikely that she would be able to even hear what he was saying over the sound of the crowd in the background. Her husband had promised to call her if his son found his way towards him; the man was managing one of the larger food stalls on the event, and had his hands tied down with work for the most part. It was just too good a opportunity to make money and some good ol' publicity, so it would just be her and her son. If she could find the boy. Unlike her son and husband, she was not really a trainer, so naturally, she carried no pokeballs on her when she traveled. One of her students, however, she decided to bring along. The newest student to her Academy was a young, impressionable Meditite, and though Mei-Long considered herself her teacher, not her trainer, she always found that connecting with her pokemon students as a trainer would with their pokemon helped improve their development greatly. It had been incredibly testing to keep track of the small Meditite in such crowded streets however, specially with the incredible height differences between them keeping her from so much as hand holding it. So now she was just carrying the little Meditite in her arms as one would a small child, letting the small fighter's eyes roam and take in the colors and sights of the gala while she weaved through the crowd. MAYBE IT'D BE FASTER IF THE ONE WHO DISAPPEARED WAS ME. It was now the second day of the Gala for Arthur, and this time around Woobat decided to stick around with him instead of his cousins since she apparently missed him (or something like that, anyway). This was probably the third time that she was talking about how close she was to winning this prize at a particular Pokemon booth, but Arthur had already blocked out most of it. He could get that she was excited and all, but the crowds were already noisy as they were. He didn't need the chatter of another Pokemon sitting on his shoulder to add to it, but he opted not to say anything so as not to offend her. Now he was mostly wandering, unsure of what to do next since he had already circled this place the previous night. Not much had changed, except maybe some of the stalls had different managers at the moment due to shifts. He sighed, just wanting to go back home. But Woobat had other thoughts (again). She noticed that nearby there was a really good smelling stall and she wanted to buy some food from it. Arthur chided that perhaps the food wasn't even meant for Pokemon, but she insisted on trying it out. Since he wasn't relenting, she tried to fly there herself, though she was rather careless about it. In her haste, she accidentally collided onto another person, floating backwards to get her bearings before apologizing. She then realized that the Pokemon the stranger was carrying looked familiar. "(Hey, Master has one of you in his gym as well!)" she said in pleasant surprise at the Meditite. When Arthur managed to catch up, she began to chatter about it, "(That's Meditite, right, Master?)""Huh?" he then followed where she was gesturing and noticed that yes indeed that was a Meditite in that woman's grasp. "Oh, yeah, it is." he responded before turning his attention back to the stranger. "I apologise for my Pokemon bumping into you. She's been really hyperactive ever since we entered the Gala." he said. They were still in the thick of the crowd, so he was half hoping that she could just forgive him and move on. He sure wanted to go back to the fountain to relax, but then he had a small fear that maybe that particular girl would find him there again.

Family friendly fun. The woman stood silently off to the side of the avenue, unmoving. She had paused to try and see if she could feel out her son amongst the crowd, but the sheer number of people around her had been a tad overwhelming. She had managed to reign it in with a mental exercise, setting her focus in the same way she usually would to meditate. Her son's aura was usually very easy to find; as a child, it had been pure white, but over time, it had transformed into a Neon Pink that was easy to spot even in a crowd. Which told her that he was nowhere near where she stood. Her aura sight was relatively far reaching, so she could tell that she would not find the boy by staying in that part of the Gala. Opening her eyes, she blinked as a small pokemon bounced off her bosom. Her student began trying to swat at it furiously in response. She patted the small Meditite's head, before wrapping her arm around her waist and placing the small pokemon at her waist. "Don't do that." She chastised the small fighter, before turning her gaze towards the small bat like pokemon. She thought she may have seen such a pokemon in the past -flying types were a premier choice when challenging the fighting type gym after all-, but she couldn't remember the name of the species. Meditite seemed to take offense to being called 'one of you', as if she and her brethren were interchangeable, but that probably had more to do with the irritation she already held making her overly sensitive. The mention of a gym flew over her head for the moment. Mei-Long turned her gaze from the bat pokemon down to the young man. White hair, white lashes, pale, lanky, shorter than her, dressed in simple, but elegant clothing. "It's no issue." She said to the man. She felt like she had seen this man before. Maybe in the news? She really needed to pay more attention to that kind of stuff. The lashes were not exactly something common... "Have we met before...?" She asked, tilting her head to the side slightly. A Walk Through The Gala Leon Solis - True Form Party - Ember Lvl 14, Choco Lvl 10, Nocturne Lvl 11, Mystic Lvl 6, Snow Lvl 5, Pip Lvl 9
The gym leader wasn’t having the best of days since he came into his true form. He didn’t know what he had expected, walking around a famous location in his origin state. He’d received praise as a gym leader, praise for his looks, praise for his family, his, job, his wealth… But as he was in this state, also received hate for it. Not a lot of people knew how to react to a morph. They were often uncared for, as most just see them as people, but others see them as either freaks or Crux members, neither of which the boy prefered to be called.
As the sun was descending over the hills, the Servined man was still wide awake. His morning had been full of planning. He’d gather ideas of a fashion show and a battle tournament, each carefully detailed to the brim, he just needed people to help host it, but where was he going to find an announcer and another host so willing to help him announce? As well as judges, chefs, and even runway models? Of course, it was a contest, so he could hire people in pairs and team up the loaners… So models and designers were fine.
The skyline was a dark blue, possessing light spots of clouds, as well as some wild flying types flying about. Today, the birds that took the sky were fletchlings, along with their further evolutions. The colder weather wouldn’t stop the birds of fire, it seemed. Leon smiled as he walked, his entire party around him in some form or another. Mystic and Choco floated on each side if the man, Nocturne slept his heart out on the trainer’s shoulder like always, and Ember stuck to the ground, as he was too big to carry anymore. Snow and Pip, on the other, were in their pokeballs. Snow would freak out to a crowd and Pip was far too hyper around them. It’d only lead to a chase around Vega City.
Leon marched towards the center of town, where his pokemon were begging to have a playdate. Being the softy he secretly was, he’d guide them there to play. It was a lot nicer there, surprisingly. The crowd wasn't overbearing and the music was actually hearable. It was a nice soft melody, like one you might like to hear while traveling the world… It was nice, actually, to hear some calming music.
Leon was petting Ember when he saw a boy run into a stranger… The boy looked familiar… Deathly familiar, as if he’d seen it one thousand time, each time happier than the next. It was heartwarming, kind… a perfect childhood… It was…
“Arthur!” Shouted the morph, getting up and running to the boy to wrap his arms around him in a big hug.

MAYBE IT'D BE FASTER IF THE ONE WHO DISAPPEARED WAS ME. He was glad that the woman looked like the sensible sort, even if her garb was a bit...unusual. Or maybe this was a more traditional look for the Gala? He honestly had no clue. Woobat had settled on the young man's head, still curious about the Meditite nearby the stranger. "I do not think so." he responded, wondering who this woman could be mistaking him for. He thought that his appearance was pretty unique as it was, since white-haired individuals were not a very common sort, plus there was the thing with his eyelashes that bothered him sometimes. "I am a gym leader though, so perhaps--"He was cut off when he suddenly felt a heavy weight from behind him and a voice that sounded awfully familiar. He could feel his whole body getting warmer from the other man's body heat; he refused to admit that it was from lingering feelings from long ago, though his cheeks were now a little flushed from embarrassment and something else he couldn't quite pinpoint. "L-Leon? Ack, don't lean, I'm going to fall!" he said, a little too harshly for his liking. He tried to pry away from the hug so that he could face his childhood friend. He looked...different. Well, it had been some years since they last saw each other, but still, seeing him like this was something he didn't feel prepared for. Woobat had been thrown off her perch from the hug, so she was mostly hovering nearby her master asking "Who's that?" over and over until Arthur gave her a look. She supposed she had to wait until later, but she still pouted for being kept in the dark for the mean time. "What are you doing here? I thought that you were traveling..." his voice trailed off as he still tried to keep his emotions in check. Leon's appearance really dug up a lot of old emotions that Arthur decided it would be best to bury deep. He felt like it would be better to talk to him alone, but he wasn't sure if he could find the words. Maybe he should stick to the stranger for now. She seemed nice.

Well this is Awkward. So they had never met; so where had she seen this young man before...? The TV, perhaps? Occasionally she would sit down with her husband and child to watch the tv together. It wasn't her ideal choice of family activity, but her husband could only handle so much exercise per week before exhaustion took him down. He did look kind of like an actor... But those people usually led more private lives. "Perhaps you were on TV?" She asked, cupping her chin slightly. He began to inform her that he was a Gym Leader shortly before another youth jumped him. While they did their thing, Mei Long brows knit together in thought. A gym leader? Mei didn't know anything about that. She had retired from being a leader nearly five years back now, and she had never really kept an eye on the trainer scene; such things were her son's interests. "I don't believe your position as Gym Leader has to do with it. I'm afraid I've never gone too deep into the trainer scene despite my history with it." She informed Arthur, seemingly not reading whatever tension was going on between the two men. She had never been much of a social butterfly; that she left to her brothers. She turned her gaze towards the morph youth, cocking her head slightly. Her history with morphs only dated back to about 20 years, when she met a few morphs while traveling around Johto and Kanto. It got a bit bloodied around the time of the conflict when some morphs found themselves involved in the war, but overall, she had no strong opinions on them. Some of her best students were morphs, some of her most headache inducing students were also morphs. "Evening." She said, nodding at the young man. A Walk Through The Gala Leon Solis - True Form Party - Ember Lvl 14, Choco Lvl 10, Nocturne Lvl 11, Mystic Lvl 6, Snow Lvl 5, Pip Lvl 9
The Trainer eventually got off of Arthur after some lines involving “Where have you been?” and “I missed you so much!” It wasn’t hard to tell that there was some mixed history between the two, a mystery to everyone but them. The well-dressed morph climbed off of Arthur almost making him fall over. Leon was ecstatic, his eyes shining brighter than anyone had ever seen before, like only Arthur could drag this out of him.
“Arthur, you’re so much… taller!” The Morph grabbed his heart and bowed slightly, the pokemon he had carried along with him catching up to him. “And cuter, if I may add. Have you found someone special in your life?” The Gym Leader was ready to go on for hours about the events that happened since their last meet up, but he decided to keep quiet on it. He’d probably already embarrassed the boy enough in the mere minute they’d been reunited.
Leon turned his head to the Ex-Gym Leader who gave the Morph a simple greeting. Leon turned to address the woman, putting his hand to his heart and bowing low. “Good evening and a pleasure to meet you, I am Leon Solis” The well-dressed morph crossed his arms as he stood back up and gave a small chuckle. “I did not mean to intervene-” “Swi~” (Lies~) “But I simply couldn’t resist, seeing as Arthur is a beloved childhood friend.”
The Morph smiled even bigger, looking at Arthur with curious eyes. “Are you still in the clothier business? I’m thinking of hosting a fashion show and I’d be honored to have you in it”

MAYBE IT'D BE FASTER IF THE ONE WHO DISAPPEARED WAS ME. Arthur was trying his best not to be rude to the woman, though it was difficult keeping focus since Leon was spouting all sorts of things while being a bit too close for comfort. He couldn't stop his cheeks turning red at his old friend's comments, particularly the portion where he was called cute. "Ugh, Leon..! You're embarrassing me." he hissed, trying to hide his blush. He wondered if he should say that he did have one so that he could get out of his tail, but then it would be followed up by more questions, no doubt. Arthur was not a very good liar, so he might as well be truthful, "And no, no one. I'm fine by myself, thank you very much."He tried to fix himself by flattening the folds on his shirt, though the barrage of uncomfortable questions continued. Since Leon had taken a very short break to address the stranger, he also saw it as a chance to respond properly to her inquiries. "I am not sure if I've been on TV, though I suppose I might have appeared alongside my father during events." he answered. The young man was not sure what she meant by having history with it. Most likely she must've been a trainer previously; it might be a bit of a stretch to say that she was even a Gym leader. But Arthur had only been in this position for two years, so he honestly did not know who the previous leaders were. He squinted when Leon said that he didn't mean to intervene, knowing full well that he did it on purpose. He wasn't quite sure how to react to the invitation, though. He hesitated for a few moments, "I've never been in it, remember? It was my family that dabbled in such luxuries." he tried to think of a good enough excuse so that he didn't need to go, "I also have responsibilities that do not allow me to leave it alone for long, so I cannot join you." he hoped that would be enough to deter the morph. As much as he had fond memories of Leon, Arthur had wanted to leave it behind so that he wouldn't have to deal with such complicated emotions.

Mei-Long didn't notice anything. The morph young man was certainly open about his thoughts, thought the woman as he watched him shower the Gym Leader with praises -and to a much lesser degree, questions-. She had no outward reaction as the morph bowed, his words receiving yet another nod in response. "Mei-Long Freeman. Pleasure." Her husband's last name did not quite fit her own name, but she was always proud to say it regardless. She knew little of childhood friends, but regardless, she didn't really mind the interruption. She hardly even knew why she had bothered at all to pursue the current topic to begin with. Perhaps she just felt like socializing. She really had no idea of where she had met this man. Had she even seen him before, or did his countenance just sound familiar? Her thoughts took pause. What had the mor- Leon, called the gym leader? He had said his names multiple times. "A gym Leader named Arthur, with white hair and lashes." She repeated outloud, lips pursed. Her student looked up at her from where she was held, asking the woman something. The teacher glanced at her as she responded promptly, her son's words still relatively fresh in her memory. "Yes, Xiǎo'Jun did mention challenging such a man at Eridani City." A Walk Through The Gala Leon Solis - True Form Party - Ember Lvl 14, Choco Lvl 10, Nocturne Lvl 11, Mystic Lvl 6, Snow Lvl 5, Pip Lvl 9
Leon smiled big with his hands on his hips, his confidence overshowering everything else. “Sorry, but I haven’t seen you in in 9 years!” He commented, tilting his hips to the side for a little extra sass to counter Arthur’s. “No need to get so hurt, I just wanna catch up on old times.” Leon rubbed his chin with his thumb, making a quick flick as his smile only grew bigger.
“That’s fine, just an invitation.” The next thing he said seemed to rub the Morph the wrong way. Responsibilities? At the Gala? Leon couldn’t really see it. If he was no longer a part of his family's business and his occupation was a gym leader, what business could he have? Leon’s smile faded quickly, leading to crossed arms and a cold stare. “So does that mean you’re leaving the Gala early? Shame. What is it you have? A challenger in the waiting? Maybe a chat with another gym leader?”
Leon was familiar with Arthur’s psychic abilities, though he never knew the extent. Whether he could read minds was beyond him, but he kind of hoped he could and couldn’t. Leon’s voice returned to his usual one of disinterest. It was obvious to any person with common sense that he felt like he was being push away. “Right, and the only reason you could be here is a vacation and knowing as we have many of those, you couldn’t possibly be on one…”
Leon eyed the older woman and raised a few fingers from his criss crossed arms. “It is highly likely that you have heard of Arthur before he became a gym leader. He was popular for many things before his debut in the gym scene…” The morph sighed and turned his head to the sky. Maybe it was time to seek dinner, with the sky turning such a beautiful dark blue. It’d sure beat being forced by his best friend… “Ah, yes, Arthur was one of the first gym leaders challenged out of the new applicants.” Leon noticed only now his Quilava was biting his pant leg, trying to get him to move away, but the morph simply neeled down and pet the nervous fire mouse.

MAYBE IT'D BE FASTER IF THE ONE WHO DISAPPEARED WAS ME. Wait a minute, did she just say Freeman? The gym challenge was too recent for him to forget, but he was kind of disbelief. Was she...that boy's mother? Now that he thought about it, they did look alike, though their dispositions seemed rather different. He knew extremely limited mandarin, but he at least knew that "Xiao" meant small--often affectionately used for children or something, so the possibility seemed very likely. Wow, what are the odds. Where was that boisterous boy, then? Was he somewhere else in the Gala? He couldn't think of a good response though because of Leon, so he mainly just look dumbfounded before having to address his childhood friend. ...who was starting to get pissed off by his cold shoulder. Yeah, well, he was not surprised. That was the desired effect, after all, but he had hoped to use the responsibilities of the gym position as an excuse. It turned out that he already knew since he wasn't surprised about the woman's comment, so clearly that wasn't going to work. He felt bristled as the atmosphere turned sour. He figured that it was not a good time to retaliate by saying that he didn't want to be here. That would most likely make matters worse. The gym leader let out a sigh, thinking of what to say next, but couldn't find the words...unless Leon was willing to hear him out telepathically? He then gently tugged on his friend's sleeve; something that he used to do often as a child and quietly concentrated. Look, I'm sorry. I just don't want to talk about...our relationship here in front of a stranger. A lot of things happened since you left, but I'd like for that to be discussed in private. His eyes were downcast the whole time and his vision grew hazy, but by the time he finished sending those thoughts to Leon, he looked back up to reply to the woman. "I didn't think that I was talking to Doug's mother, what a pleasant surprise." he managed to collect himself and speak in a more polite tone. "Your son is a very skilled trainer and I look forward to seeing his progression."The gym leader then crossed his arms, "I do admit that it was no fun losing. I plan to ask for a rematch one of these days." he added, looking thoughtful.

Mei-Long didn't notice anything. Mei-Long wasn't an expert on such things, but she thought she could detect a hint of something going between the two young men, but she couldn't be sure of exactly what it was. She did however note, that it looked like these so called childhood friends did not quite appear to be as in sync with each other as she had seen some of her students with their own best friends, her son and his own taciturn best friend among them. Had time driven a wedge between them? Not her business to wonder, she supposed. Ah, so that was it! The woman bowed slightly, smiling at the young man. "Thank you for your kind words; Xiǎo'Jun would be very happy to hear such praise from you. He seems to have taken quite a liking to you and one Mr. Lucas." She said. She nodded at the morph's words regardless, humming. "Being a gym leader was a surprisingly private and humble job, if memory serves me right. Few people ever recognized me while training my students around Stellara." Martial Artists could recognize her on sight, either as herself or as the gym leader, but trainers had rarely ever been able to point her out as the gym leader of Hamal Town while she traveled around Stellara. Perhaps it was a result of keeping the battle secluded and away from the public? "He'll be excited to hear; he mentioned your battle being the greatest challenge he had faced to date." She said to Arthur, smiling. "It made me rather curious." She said, glancing down and petting her little Student's head. "My pokemon student's are always seeking out ways to deal with their weaknesses. Perhaps they a field trip to Eridani City's Gym is in order." A Walk Through The Gala Leon Solis - True Form Party - Ember Lvl 14, Choco Lvl 10, Nocturne Lvl 11, Mystic Lvl 6, Snow Lvl 5, Pip Lvl 9
Leon wasn’t tuning in to the conversation anymore. The lady seemed only interested in Arthur and Arthur in her. It was a waste of time to be there any longer, and his pokemon had been agreeing with him all this time, the Quilava at his foot still desperately pulling with its teeth. The morph was about to turn heal early, but something rang in his mind. A familiar voice… One of a friend that seemed long gone to him.
Leon listened with eyes close, an calm expression on his face to hide his desire to run away now. He wanted to mad or angry, but he wasn’t a fool. He was wild with his emotions, but he wasn’t disrespectful with them. Arthur’s wishes were to speak in private, which Leon said nothing back. The simply faked a smile and cleared his mind of thoughts.
“You two seem busy. I should just go.” Leon gave his usual bow, but this time it seemed less poetic, less… caring. He bowed half way than he normally did, his hand was on hit stomach, not his heart, and his head didn’t turn down all the way. As he stood, he looked down at his best friend. “Sorry about that Ember. Let’s go catch a meal.” Leon waved to the two before turning away, his smile decaying in an instant as he walked off, his posture never better.
Leon checked his mobile device for the time. It was nearing the later hours of night, which could mean only so many things for him. ”Let’s get to work, shall we?”

MAYBE IT'D BE FASTER IF THE ONE WHO DISAPPEARED WAS ME. "A field trip? I suppose we are still undergoing renovations, but if ever the warps are in order, I'll let you know." he responded almost business-like. It seemed a bit iffy since he didn't want to turn his gym into a tourist attraction, but he supposed if it was a private excursion he could allow it. They might be interested in the reserve as well--at least the part that is open to the public. He wouldn't want random children to be running around the menagerie part of the park or anything, among other places. But in his mind there was no response. He glanced at his friend but his eyes were merely closed. Did he...say something wrong? Was his mistake too much of a grievance? He frowned as he saw the forced smile on his friend's face; it admittedly hurt him deep down, remembering those times where he thought that this man was basically his world. He didn't have much of a childhood after all, especially after he learned of his ability. The gym leader didn't say anything when Leon tried to excuse himself; he was, in a way, frozen in a state of uncertainty. Should he leave? Should he stay? Would he be able to see him again, or would this be the last time, considering that his attempts at pushing him away were clearly taken at the worst level possible? Mei must've noticed that after Leon's departure, his eyes were firmly planted on the crowd. His hesitation eventually caved after he couldn't take the burning sensation in his chest. "Sorry, I'll have to catch up another time. Need to...settle things." he muttered quickly as he did a small bow and ran towards the sea of people, hoping that he didn't take too long in realising what he should be doing. "Leon!" he shouted, soon seeing the sulking figure with a Quilava. Without waiting for him to respond he grabbed his arm and forcibly pulled him away from the more crowded area of the Gala. "I changed my mind, let's go someplace quieter now." he wasn't going to take no for an answer. He knew in his mind that he wasn't going to let him leave. Not this time. [Thread Exit]

? She wasn't entirely sure of what had happened. One second everything seemed to be going... mildly well. There appeared to be some tension between the youths of some form, but it didn't appear to be anything to worry about. Next thing she knows, one of them is leaving with the other hot on his trail. Strange behavior. She scratched at her cheek uncertainly, unable to cross her arms while holding onto Meditite. The young gym leader had said he would call her if it whenever it was possible, but she wasn't sure how he would do that without her contact info. Maybe her son would serve as a middle man...? Or the youth would forget about it entirely. She sighed. That would be so disappointing... "Let's go, Meditite. Jun-fan should be around here somewhere." She muttered to her student, her mind going back to her original objective of finding her child now that it was no longer distracted with something else. tl;dr: -Wow.
