Edwin had no idea how his Sneasel Bellamy had got wind of this festival in Vega City. His prior held belief that pokemon couldn't read was being rather tested by this flamboyant little pokemon. For one thing the Sneasel was wearing a red t-shirt with a popular morph celebrity emblazoned on the front, excitedly riding Edwin's shoulder as they approached the city, for the reason that Bellamy wouldn't stop bothering him about it until he gave in a day later. Edwin himself was wearing his usual clothes - cotton cargo pants, light blue shirt and dark blue jacket. His other two pokemon weren't wearing anything - Arkady the Noibat in his usual place on Edwin's other shoulder, and walking out in front was Sten, his Rockruff. Sten had his own business in Vega city, but, eh, gotta look after his trainer. While Edwin was a bit of a nerd, well, he fed Sten good food and treated him with respect, so, he got a pass. Arkady was just happy to go wherever Edwin went. And so here they were approaching the city. A day late perhaps, but, still not too late to join in the festivities. Edwin had heard of the reputation of Vega City and it normally kept him away from it, so this was the first time he had seen the fabled city of vice in Stellara. But, well, he had three pokemon, so, hopefully he had a means of protection.
Edwin's Pokemon: Arkady the Noibat - Lv. 14 - Screech, Supersonic, Bite, Absorb, Gust, Snatch Sten the Rockruff - Lv.10 - Tackle, Leer, Sand Attack, Bite Bellamy the Sneasel - Lv.10 - Scratch, Leer, Taunt, Quick Attack, Feint Attack, Ice Punch

IT'S A NEW WORLD, A NEW START Vega City had proven to be a good place to hide out. It was full of people, and the thieving was good when Kari needed it to be. The introduction of the gala had proven to be very profitable indeed. As guilty as Kari felt every time she stole the wallet out of someone's pocket or snatched an apple off someone's plate, she was comfortable and full for the first time since she escaped her father's clutches. With her "earnings", Kari had managed to buy a harness for Rex, so she could finally let him out of his Pokeball to roam around. He hated the harness, of course, but his stubby arms and over-sized head prevented him from removing it. Kari had also purchased an extra thick leash so that he couldn't simply bite it in half. Not that he hadn't tried. Nonetheless, the Tyrunt dragged Kari through the streets, sniffing at everything he could get his face into and generally plowing through the crowd with Kari trying her best to keep up with him. "Would you slow down?" she huffed, her legs screaming at the exertion. But Rex didn't slow down, not even a smidge. Finally, Kari dug her heels into the sidewalk, forcing the Tyrunt to stop. Even though Kari was pretty sure he only stopped because he wanted to, she was grateful. Looking up, she saw that Rex's attention had been caught by a young man surrounded by a few Pokemon, including an interestingly dressed Sneasel. Kari raised an eyebrow, but she couldn't judge. She thought of her ears a tail, tucked just out of sight. Yeah, she had seen weirder things. The Noibat sitting on the man's shoulder drew her own attention. She stared at it in awe, only just stopping herself from reaching out to pet it. What if it bit her? "You have lovely Pokemon," she said shyly, a small blush rising in her cheeks. Rex didn't seem to think so and quickly started growling at the man's Rockruff. Tyrunt (Lv 5) (no item) - Tail Whip, Tackle, Poison Fang

Nearby, Koa began his day away from most of the festivities to spend some quality time with his Pokemon. All of them were out of their Pokeballs. Shichika peacefully meditated on a bench to further improve his mind and spirit. Rythix was next to Shichika, though instead of meditating he was clearly sleeping to soak in the sunlight. Azura was with Koa, going over various Alolan dances for fun. They waved their arms gently like an ocean current. Koa usually felt a little embarrassed dancing with Azura, but since it was somewhere relatively remote and away from the festival, he felt less insecure about it. That is, until he heard voices nearby. He abruptly ceased his dancing and Azura made a giggling noise before she pat at his leg to comfort him. He sighed a bit and rubbed the back of his head "Come on, everybody, let's go meet them!" he said. Shichika opened his eyes and hopped off the bench before he crossed his arms behind is back in a professional, if not rather uppity pose. Rythix stirred and opened his eyes slowly, still groggy. He squeaked a little and Koa smiled apologetically "Yeah, you too. Sorry, buddy." he said. He reached down to pick up the sleepy Fomantis so at least he wouldn't have to walk. With all of his Pokemon with him, Koa walked over to meet Edwin and Kari "Hey there! Hope the day's treating the two of you and your Pokemon well. My name's Koa Leilani." he said. Rythix was cradled in his arms, adorably snoozing despite the conversation. He had gotten used to Koa's socializing nature by now and learned to drown it out if he needed sleep. Koa noticed the Sneasel's shirt and grinned "Nice shirt!" he said, giving the Pokemon a thumbs up. He was a little troubled by the Tyrunt's growling, however. He didn't say anything about it though, not wanting to be rude. Azura looked between the Rockruff and the Tyrunt and waved her flippers worriedly ("There's no need to be tense! It's a nice day and a lot of people are really happy. Let's try and be friends!") she said. It didn't look like a battle was going on, so she didn't want these two to get in trouble with their trainers ("I'm Azura. What are your names?")Shichika kept a stoic watch over the more temperamental Pokemon in case something happened, though hopefully with Azura trying to pacify the situation, nothing would. ("I am Shichika. A pleasure.") he bowed his head, arms still folded behind his back. He glanced over at Azura and gave a small smile. Her constantly happy attitude was nice to see. ("How do you find the strength to stay so happy, Azura?") he asked. Azura turned around at Shichika ("I just want to see others be happy too, that's all! I want to see the good in things and enjoy the little moments.") she explained. She looked satisfied with her reasoning. This served to remind Shichika why he admired her so much and blushed ("O-of course. You are very wise.")Koa watched the Pokemon interact with each other "Sometimes I wish I knew what they talked about. They must have the most interesting conversations. Oh, right! The Popplio is Azura, the Mienfoo is Shichika, and this little Fomantis is Rythix. Nice to meet you all."Kari Murphy Edwin Armadale PokemonAzura, Popplio, Level 7. As Edwin entered the city, somewhat dazzled by the lights and music, he didn't notice the person approaching behind him. He turned his head slowly so as to not disturb Bellamy and Arkady and saw a girl nearby. She said that his pokemon were lovely.
"Ah, thanks" Edwin said, turning around to make conversation. "Yeah, I guess I am pretty lucky to come across these guys".
("Damn straight you are, nya~") Bellamy said in pokespeak, which Edwin didn't understand but other pokemon could. Sten meanwhile didn't take well to Rex's growling, and growled right back in return.
("Ya wanna throw down, punk?!") he yipped aggressively. ("I'll take you on!")
Edwin saw this and screamed internally. He didn't want a pokemon battle so soon. Realizing the Rockruff wouldn't listen to him if he ordered him directly, instead he made a more subtle approach. He crouched down and gently petted his rocky collar, even if it was a bit irritating to do so.
"Come on, Sten, you don't want to mess up your pristine fur so early do you?" he asked. Sten responded positively to this, and calmed down. turning from the Tyrunt.
("Yeah, s'pose you're right") he yipped back. So instead he turned back at the Tyrunt with a more neutral expression. ("Hey, where's your chill, bro?") he asked him.
Then another individual approached. Edwin was rather surprised to have not one but two people approach him on his arrival, he didn't feel like a particularly social individual. But, still, it was nice. It raised his spirits a little that, maybe this was a good idea after all to come here?
Bellamy was pleased at the compliment. He jumped down from Edwin's shoulder and folded his arms in a kind of cocky expression. ("Heh, and you have good taste, nya~") he responded, although he didn't expect the human to understand him.
Sten was then distracted by the Popplio, who seemed to be intervening in their standoff. Well, she meant well, so that was okay. ("The name's Sten -arf") he replied. ("That Noibat up there is Arkady, and this posing jackass is Bellamy") the Rockruff glared at the Sneasel.
("Don't mind Sten's bitchy resentment, he just wishes he was born bipedal like me, nya~") Bellamy scoffed back. Now these two pokemon glared at each other.
("Guys, please don't make me use Supersonic") Arkady warned. This made the Rockruff and Sneasel break off their argument for the time being. They hated it when Arkady used it, and since he only did so if they were close to fighting, they couldn't find the justice in calling him out on it. So they'd not escalate this further.
"So, um..." Edwin began. "This is Arkady, my first pokemon" he indicated the Noibat. "And this is Bellamy and Sten" he indicated his other two pokemon. He was glad they didn't fight, otherwise he'd withdraw them to their pokeballs. But this way they could hopefully relax and just enjoy themselves.

IT'S A NEW WORLD, A NEW START Kari sighed as she watched Rex try to start a fight, as usual. She stepped forward to attempt to drag the tiny dinosaur away, but the Rockruff piped up in response, and Kari took a hesitant step back instead. She was clueless when it came to the mechanics of battle. She opened her mouth to try to stop the two when a small blue seal bounced up and attempted to stop them instead. Kari's eyes widened in surprise, and she followed the seal's path to see another trainer approaching. The girl unconsciously tugged her beanie further down on her head. She made a bold move by speaking to one trainer, but she wasn't prepared to deal with two. The seal seemed friendly enough, and Kari's lips twitched in the beginnings of a smile. "I'm s-sorry," she said quietly, tugging on Rex's leash. The Tyrunt continued to glare at the young man's Rockruff but stepped back and joined Kari at her side. She looked around at the many Pokemon that now surrounded her, feeling vulnerable and a little intimidated. She needed to expand her team, but most of the wild Pokemon she had encountered were mortified by her Tyrunt and often ran in the opposite direction long before she could get a Pokeball ready. She loved her Pokemon, but he didn't make things easy for her. As the introductions began, Kari internally withdrew on herself. Should she introduce herself? It was easy enough to introduce Rex. He would make himself known whether she introduced him or not. But what if either or both of these guys were members of Team Crux? Would they take her back to her father? She couldn't take that. She would fight them if she had to. Rex was looking at her expectantly, a toothy grin on his face. "This is...uh...Rex," she said, looking from one man to the other. She wouldn't fight them. Not yet. Koa bit his lip nervously as the Pokemon seemed to provoke one another, but sighed in relief as Azura went over to diffuse the situation. After a short interaction, the Pokemon seemed to calm down slightly "All of your Pokemon seem really lively. That's a good thing, even if sometimes they can be a little unruly. That's part of the fun, isn't it? This little guy would get very grumpy if he didn't get his daily sunlight for example." he said as he gently poked Rythix's belly. The Fomantis squirmed a bit but was clearly happy with the attention as he reached out to Koa's finger with his little arms. When Bellamy responded, Koa didn't quite understand, but the Sneasel's expression gave the sense that it was appreciative of the compliment. He smiled at Edwin "All nice names for your Pokemon. Is that a Noibat? I've always wanted to see one in person. He's adorable." he waved at the little Pokemon slowly to avoid startling him. He looked at the Rockruff and Sneasel "So these are Sten and Bellamy then? Rockruffs are everywhere in my home region, but I never get tired of seeing them. And is Bellamy a Sneasel? He's got a nice little fashion sense going on there." Koa was finally starting to get the hang of conversations and how to keep them going. "I'm just glad whatever got some of them riled up seems to have passed. We're all here to have fun after all."Azura looked happy that the Pokemon stopped before a fight broke out. She looked up at Arkady ("Thank you for that. Does this happen a lot...?") she asked, clearly worried. ("It's nice to meet all of you. Are you here with your trainers to see the festival too? Koa and I have been here for a couple of days and it's been lots of fun.") she did not want to mention the antagonistic behavior between Bellamy and Sten as to avoid reigniting some kind of confrontation. She figured it would be best to let the conversation move forward. Near Azura, Shichika watched over and would make sure nothing would get out of hand. He mused quietly to himself at the rather rude behavior Sten and Bellamy seemed to have towards each other, but otherwise didn't worry about it. He glanced over at Arkady and appreciated his initiative to keep things under control. Still, the two others should be more mindful of how much trouble their bickering could bring to their trainer. Koa smiled at Kari "Hey there's no need to apologize. Pokemon can get a little rowdy sometimes, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Rex looks strong and reliable, so maybe he's just protective!" he wanted to make her feel a little better. "Oh, right, I didn't catch either of your names."

Edwin felt bad that the girl was so intimidated by Sten. "Ah, sorry about that. Sten's... kind of a wild one, but he won't hurt you, I promise". If Sten did end up hurting another trainer he would go straight back in his pokeball and get a stern talking to later. But Sten thankfully knew better, he knew well from experience that biting humans led to severe consequences. Just he had to keep up the bravado against other pokemon that challenged him.
"Hi, Rex" Edwin said, hoping to be at least friendly to the pokemon. Arkady gave a friendly wave to his fellow Dragon type as well. Bellamy meanwhile tilted his head curiously as he watched the goings on.
"So, what's your name? If I can ask..." Edwin asked the girl politely. Of course he wasn't a member of Team Crux, but was aware of how skittish she was. He hoped he might be able to help her calm down as an apology for Sten being aggressive.
Then he turned to Koa. "Heh, thanks. They can be a bit of a handful sometimes, but, I appreciate having them around" he said, glad of Arkady, Bellamy and Sten being around in their own ways.
Arkady meanwhile paid attention to Azura. ("Yeah, it happens a lot... I just wish these two can see eye to eye") the Noibat admitted. Bellamy and Sten scoffed. It'd take a lot to get them to make amends. Sten thought Bellamy was a smug posing prick while Bellamy thought Sten was a stuck up hoodlum jerk. Their impasse couldn't be overcome by words alone, it would require actions on both parts.
("Yeah, we're here for the festival nya~") Bellamy confirmed excitedly. ("It's gonna be great!")
Edwin then realized that he hadn't given his own name yet. "Ah, my mistake. My name's Edwin Armadale, I'm a trainer-researcher. Nice to meet you".

IT'S A NEW WORLD, A NEW START The girl jumped as the taller of the two men spoke to her. She instinctively shoved her beanie further down over her ears as she felt it shift. "Uh, yeah," she replied hesitantly, looking down at Rex. The dinosaur had grown bored of the rest of the group and was casually scraping at the ground. It wasn't really protectiveness, she knew. Rex didn't listen because he didn't belong to her. She couldn't tell, them that, of course. But part of her wondered how he would behave if she had caught him on her own. Lost in her thoughts, Kari nearly missed the inevitable segue into human introductions. Shit. "Ka - Kate. It's Kate," she lied quickly. Stupid! She had almost said her real name, simply out of reflex. She would have to be more careful about that. And now she would have to keep up with her fake name. Even Rex looked up at her in confusion, but she silenced any potential protest with a glare. Shrugging his little arms, he went back to playing in the dirt, side-eyeing Sten as if their scrimmage wasn't quite over. Kari looked at the men's Pokemon as they all conversed. She couldn't understand a word of it, of course. She could occasionally make out what Rex was saying, though he didn't talk much aside from the occasional grunt or growl. Maybe one day, she would learn to understand Pokemon. She sure hoped so. "It's a pleasure to meet you both," Kari said politely, giving a small curtsey. She didn't trust either of the men as far as she could throw them, but she had taken enough etiquette lessons to know that politeness was the key to remaining inconspicuous. "I'm here for the festival as well. I've...never been to one."Tyrunt (Lv 5) (no item) - Tail Whip, Tackle, Poison Fang

Koa kept his friendly smile when 'Kate' and Edwin introduced themselves "Likewise, you two! I've never really been to festivals before either, but I've honestly been having a great time so far. The crowds are a bit much though, which is why I'm out here with my Pokemon for the time being. Thankfully there are still places we can come to unwind if it just gets to be a tad too stressful or noisy." he said to Kate. He stepped back a bit when he saw that she was a little nervous around him "Sorry, sorry. I know I can be a little imposing because of my height. There's nothing I hate more than making others uncomfortable, so if I overstep something please let me know."He turned his attention to Edwin "I know how that is. I don't think I would have ever taken my first steps on this journey if I never met Azura. She and the rest of my Pokemon mean the world to me." he said. When Edwin mentioned being a researcher, he tilted seemed rather interested "A researcher? Pardon me for assuming, but I take it you research Pokemon? I'd love to sit down and talk about that one of these days." he said. He loved listening to people talk about Pokemon and learning more about them himself. Rythix began to squirm tiredly in his grip, so he knelt down and gently placed him somewhere sunny so he can fully rest up. Koa pulled out a spray bottle from his bag with Rythix's name written on it before he sprayed his leafs a couple of times. Azura sighed a little bit but smiled happily ("Well what can you do? You're all traveling together, so I'm sure it will work itself out eventually!") she said with the utmost confidence. She giggled at Bellamy ("You're definitely the fun-loving type, aren't you? It's always nice to see others with so much happiness and excitement for things.")Shichika mused over what kind of advice he could give to Bellamy and Sten. The Mienfoo crossed his arms behind his back ("Hm...perhaps the festival is exactly what you need. If I may suggest, the two of you should take the opportunity to experience some of the activities together. Fun and games could be an excellent way to put aside your differences, if only for a moment. As...long as they're not too competitive, of course.") he nodded to himself, rather proud of his statements on the matter. Koa gently pat Rythix's head and stood back up "I'm not sure how long I'll stay here. Maybe until the end of the festival, but I also want to see more of the region and catch some more Pokemon before trying out my first gym challenge...hm...I might be rushing it a bit too much..." he chuckled nervously "Heh, sorry. Thinking out loud."----------- Kari Murphy Edwin Armadale

(OOC: I'm really sorry for the delay here).
It seemed that the Tyrunt had decided to do other things than pursue his challenge with Edwin's pokemon. Which was a relief to the young man, since he didn't think a pokemon grudge match would be a very healthy development for their time in the city at the moment.
But still, Arkady and Bellamy were watching Rex with curiosity. Maybe they could try and become friends with the Tyrunt? Although it'd probably take something of an effort to do so from what they had seen so far.
Edwin meanwhile paid attentiont to the girl as she said that her name was Kate. "Okay. Hiya, Kate" he said, trying to make this seem like normal conversation, but probably wasn't handling it very well.
Kate admitted that she hadn't been to a festival like this before. With this, Edwin could immediately sympathise. "Yeah, I haven't either" he said, chuckling awkwardly. "I mean... yeah, it's a festival, but, what's meant to happen? Honestly, walking around the city and waiting in queues doesn't seem that appealing..."
Edwin then turned to Koa, who seemed like a much more sociable person. And thus, for the moment, Edwin remained silent while he spoke the way of things. At least until Koa asked of his experiences as a researcher.
"Yeah... that's the way of things. I don't think I'm a particularly gifted researcher, just that when I turned 13, I kept studying instead of going on a pokemon training adventure" he admitted. "No offense to those that did it that way of course, but... yeah". He broke off with his usual awkwardness.
Bellamy turned to Azura as she spoke to him. The Sneasel gave a little grin, posing with a paw on his hip. "Heh, yep, guess I'm a pokemon with a weakness to fun types" he admitted.
"And Fire types too" Sten added. Bellamy rolled his eyes to admit that was true. "And Fighting, and Bug, and Rock, and Steel, and Fairy, and-"
"OKAY OKAY YEESH!" Bellamy spat at the Rockruff, who snickered in response. Oh boy, this was going nowhere fast. He then turned to the Mienfoo over his suggestions. "Eh, maybe so" was his only response. Could be okay, yet not. Only acting in it would prove it for sure.
