BUG TYPES ONLY, PLEASE.
It didn't take him long to find one. Nothing too surprising; he had been exploring these woods since he had been but a little brat, and had a good idea of where to find nests, hives and colonies.
That said, what he found did not belong in any of those. It was hard to miss in the green foliage, it's bright, yellow coloration hardly providing any camouflage. A Joltik in its web.
It seemed tense for a moment, its four eyes settling onto him and Larvesta the moment Doug's gaze settled onto it.
"You are up, girl." Was all Doug said to his partner pokemon as he grabbed her from his shoulder and gently set her on the floor.
The Larvesta gave its trainer a hesitant look, and received a grin in response. Seeing there was no discouraging her partner, she turned her gaze towards her new opponent.
The Joltik made no movements, keeping its unblinking gaze squarely on them, not quite sure of what they were planning and unwilling to call their full attention to it should they not be interested in it.
Unfortunately for it, Doug only had a pokeball with its name on it.
"Larvesta, use ember!" Suddenly cried the boy as he gestured towards the Joltik with an open hand, his Larvesta's sight fixing itself onto the electric spider as light began to shine from its horns, embers expelling outwards as the small bug focused and built up its power before it unleashed a wave of flames at the spider.
The Joltik made an alarmed sound as it quickly shout a string of web at one of the many trees in the area, yanking itself away before the flames of the Larvesta could touch it, the mass of flames destroying its old webs instead.
Larvesta felt a pang of disappointment hit her; she had missed a clear shot,
dang it.The flames burned at the tree's trunk but otherwise proved unable to generate a fire. Doug sighed in relief at that, before turning his gaze back towards the Joltik.
"Let's clip its 'wings' before it can become too bothersome! Larvesta, use String shot!"
The order was followed soon after, a string of webbing shooting out towards the Joltik.
Instead of dodging it however, it suddenly leaped onto the Larvesta's own webbing, riding the web all the way down towards the fire bug before it suddenly leaped at it and bared its fangs, electricity coursing through them as bit onto the fur.
It stuck tightly to the Larvesta as the waves of electricity traveled over the Larvesta's body, her reaction sluggish as she struggled to pull away from the electric bug, the paralysis slowly beginning to sit in.
Doug had other plans.
"Light it up, Larvesta!" Larvesta's cried out in response, her horns igniting suddenly before the Joltik was expelled off her by a sudden wave of heat, it's yellow fur singed by the Larvesta's flame body.
It tried to swing away, but as it went to move, it stumbled, the burns left in the Larvesta's ability's wake suddenly making it stop in its tracks.
"Use Ember!" Time to finish it. Fighting through the paralysis coursing through her, Larvesta's horns ignited one last time before it unleashed a wave of fire at the other bug type pokemon, hitting it dead on before it could bring itself to dodge.
Doug was one step behind its pokemon, a pokeball in hand as he swung at the Joltik. Burned and nearly unconcious, the pokemon couldn't move, let alone the boy's pokeball, which smacked right dab into its forehead.
Joltik
Level 5,
Gender Male,
Ability Compound Eyes,
Moveset
- Absorb
- String shot
- Spider web
- Thunder wave
Personality: A cautious arachnid with more interest in finding a food than becoming strong.
It has a preference for easy meals such as berries, as they do not put up a fight, and would rather not battle at all if it doesn't have to.
That said, it is a creative pokemon when it needs to be, and can pull off stunts on its own even without a trainer's instructions, showing it possesses potential, but little desire to tap unto it.
Because it only knows life as a wild pokemon it is highly independent and doesn't need orders to deal with unexpected situations, though as it follows its instincts, it may not always choose the wisest option.
