World's Weirdest Bar Doug was beginning to think there was something funny on the Nair City's Water supply, because he didn't think these rules were making any sense at all. Which rules? The ones that let him work at Nightbar-slash-Dancing Club as a Barista and prepare some of the most outrageous, kidney destroying drinks he had ever had the displeasure of making, but didn't allow him to consume alcohol himself. He would have called it tempting fate, but he understood alcohol and its effects far too well for prohibition to make it any appealing to him. Unlike the bar he had worked before, this one had far more people frequenting it during the night hours; no doubt due to its status as a dance club. Not exactly something that enticed the boy much, regardless of how much his mom and dad tried to make him like it, but he wouldn't get in the way of the client's fun. So long as they kept asking for alcohol and he kept serving it, he would get paid by the end of the week. Adults making poor decisions were not the only ones on the scene, curiously enough. There were quite a few younger folks mingling in the crowds. Most of them were likely trainers enjoying their newfound freedom the wrong way. Oh well, his job was not to judge them; it was to give them the poison of their choice.

"What do you mean. Anorith can't get in?" Man, this was why she didn't like traveling like, at all! Foreign cities had these weird rules and stuff. Color her surprised that when Ano expressed her desire to dance, and maybe drink some lemonade, they had stumbled into the door of this place. It might as well count as oppression, but voicing her anger would probably not end up in anything good. For her, that is. So instead, she had decided to make as if she had returned her pokémon to her pokéball, instead tucking her safely in the insides of her bag. A masterful plan, if she had concocted them!
And instants after, she had found herself inside, staring in disbelief at what was happening in front of her, at least for a split second. Did it make sense for a civilized pokémon to not be allowed in, yet for a band of... incorregible youths, to put it in a way, to have freedom inside this building? None at all, honestly and Anorith's sigh from inside her bad was did a lot to confirm her opinion. Oh well, not much she could do about it. Walking casually into the bar, she sat before gazing at the barista, who interestingly enough, seemed to be quite young, too? Probably around her age, even. She smiled at him as he drew closer. "Evening. Do you have... lemonade?" It was a bit hard to read anything in the relative dark of the bar, and most of the stuff her eyes could make were drinks of the alcoholic kind. Not something she was interested in at the moment. "Could I have one, please?"

♣♣♣♣♣ Doug found his gaze wandering towards the watch on his wrist more often the longer he worked the counter. It was unfortunate, but serving alcohol was a rather boring job towards the child, even with the... 'interesting' results it tended to cause. Bored as he was with the scenery and the regular patrons of the bar in general, it didn't really take him long to spot the tiny figure making her way towards his counter through the mass of youths. Pink hair was an interesting color for a hairdye. Ah well, it looked good on her he supposed. "We have whatever you want, ma'am." Was the boy's response as he reached underneath the counter and grasped some lemons and the rest of the ingredients, his hands beginning to make the lemonade swiftly. "It's not my place to ask, but... should someone as young as you be here, ma'am?" He asked her, rather mildly concerned. The hypocrisy of the question was lost on him. "Ah, regardless. What brings you tonight to our..." His words were interrupted by the sudden whooping and chanting of a group of youths on the other side of the club, the boy clicking his tongue and rolling his eyes irritably shortly after. " respectable establishment, ma'am?"

The barista proved to be kind enough to her; that was nice, at least compared to the meanies who didn't "let" Anorith in. His response was a little automatic and in all honesty, was quite telling that he wasn't precisely having a blast inside the club, but work usually wasn't fun, was it? She watched how her drink was deftly made, and listened attentively to his attempt at conversation. As ironic as it was. "I could be asking the very same question." She replied, a small smirk on her face. "And I'm not the one that's handling alcohol, you know?" A small giggle followed suit; responding a question with another wasn't very polite, was it? "I actually have a friend who loves dancing. Taught me how to and everything, you know? It's a pity but she couldn't make it past the entrance. And... asked me to have some fun in her stead, so to say!" Heading straight to the dance floor would seem a little too desperate, and it wasn't like she was exciting with her current possibilities, at least if she went with the people who were usually dancing. "So I guess I'm just... warming up for now? In a sense, I guess." Had she been... too through? Maybe the barista was regretting even asking given the length of her answer. "What about you, though? What made you look for a job on this... respectable establishment?"

♣♣♣♣♣ "Yeah, I don't get it either." He replied as he placed the girl's lemonade in front of her. He hadn't really expected to keep going, to be honest. Usually the clients weren't eager to chat up the 13 year old behind the counter. Then again, usually the clients were at least 3 years older than him. "So your pokemon got held back outside." He supplied the rest of the context bluntly, reaching for a glass and beginning to wipe the inside with a handkerchief. It wasn't exactly hard. Pokemon outside their pokeballs were the only thing in the bar's 'no no' list. Watching her take a glance towards the dance floor before telling him she was 'warming up', he snorted, reaching under the counter to produce another menu. If she was waiting for someone worthwhile, she would be warming up for quite a while. "You get one on the house, for the inconvenience our rules caused." He said simply as he held out the new menu towards her. Not a list of drinks, but of dishes and He considered her question as he waited for her to order something else, leaning against the counter while reaching for another glass. "Cash." He supplied bluntly shortly after, shrugging his shoulders. "The pay was specially good, all things considered... at the time. I can see why now." He said, reaching for his ear with a hand and grimacing. "Not too sure it was worth all this, I'll admit." He finished with a sigh, before shrugging. "Are you from Nair City?"

Well, at least the number of kids “playing” being adults wasn't just one. In all honesty? She had expected something else from this place, but that was probably understimating the grown-ups potential to just… be childish, as ironic as that sounded. “Not beating around de Bush, are we? Was it that easy to guess?” She hasn't expected the question to come that fast, but it wasn't like she was going to lie about it either. “Yup! Ano’s the type that loves dancing, so imagine how downcast she was when the mean guy at the entrance said she couldn't enter. Honestly? I think she's way more civilized that most of this… people.” She wasn't mistaken. Anorith could pass as aristocracy amid this atmosphere. In a sense, Cecilia was glad she didn't get to observe this? Even though she was sure she'd still get some fun out of it. And a few laughs, possibly. She watched the yellowish liquid on her glass, and after a nod muttered a quick “thank you”. She wasn't going to refuse a free drink, and the offer for something to eat was enticing as well. The snort at her intentions not so much but, she wasn't going to be offended at what looked like an awful prospect at a simple glance, right? Instead, she took the menu and gave a quick glance at it. “Any recommendation on salads?” The pink-haired girl proceeded to ask. “It can't go too bad if I trust your judgment, can it?” Of course, she was just teasing him; Cecilia had to get back at all that bluntness somehow, right? And still ended up smirking with solidarity at the boy's plight. Being in a foreign city and getting a job being this young could be hard; she knew that one very well. “Guess this job ain't that bad if the pay’s good, though. How rowdy they can get?” What an innocent child. “I'm from Rana Town, actually.” She added quickly. “But you didn't miss by much! It's not that far from here. What about you? Take you're not a local given your less than optimal job of choice, but I could be mistaken. Up to much in this city, or just raking some cash until you hit the road again?”

♣♣♣♣♣ "There's only so many things that can keep you out of this place." Replied the boy simply, setting down a now clean glass on the counter. It would serve its purpose later; nothing stayed clean for long in that club, "If it's any consolation, it's not about being 'civilized'. The owner is just more afraid of drunk pokemon than drunk teenagers." That said, she wasn't wrong. Her pokemon probably was more civilized than the neanderthals inside the club. He simply smirked at the thanks. "Just trying to keep my one civilized client around a little longer." He wasn't even shocked that the one person his age had been the only one with a modicum of decency. "Vegetarian, Vegan, or just on a diet?" Asked the boy at her question, tilting a brow. "I like to think of myself as a connoisseur." He supplied cockily, shrugging his shoulders before citing one of the items. "There's the caprese pasta salad with hemp pesto. A favorite of mine." When meat wasn't available anyways. "If dairies ain't your thing, there's the kale caesar salad with pepper garlic croutons as well." Those were some of the few salads he had mastered; mostly because he liked their taste. Though he was a chef, he didn't know about salads as much as, say, his dad. He could only grimace at her worse, offering a half smile in response. "I dunno. I considered quitting three times just two hours ago. This people wear you out quick." He bemoaned, before reaching for an empty glass and filling it with beer, sliding it over the counter all the way towards an approaching youth. "And if you don't know, don't look too hard into the dance floor. You don't wanna see how 'rowdy' they can get." He had seen things while working in this place. "I was just guessing, since you are here in Nair and all." He excused, shrugging at her. "I'm from Shaula Town. Just passing by Nair, really. Thought I would scout the gym, get some cash and then keep on my way. This should be my last job before I leave for the next city." Thankfully.
"What about you?" He asked, leaning forward slightly, cocking his head. "What brings ya to Nair City? Beyond your raw, uncontainable, party animal spirit, I mean."

It was somewhat obvious that her peer knew his way around this place. Not much point in trying to mask a truth, even if it was so retrogressive neanderthals would be proud of it. The threat of a lone pokémon being dangerous when you could just sneak a pokéball in or anything of the like was just... silly. If anybody truly wanted to deal some damage, the scarcity of security would make the task ridiculously easy. "I know but... it's just unfair, honestly. Most pokémon deserve better than this." Probably too blunt if she came as far as to call it outright discrimination, but a nightclub probably wasn't the appropriate place for that type of stuff. She was determined to make a change, just... not in a place like this. At least she had found decent company inside. Otherwise, she'd be regretting her decision right now; and probably would've exited the place as soon as she could. "Well, you're doing a good job at that. Thus far, you've been more pleasant than any grown-up I've stumbled across." Cecilia wasn't going to hide that fact, even though she was quick to clarify in the face of the question that followed suit. "Vegetarian. As long as it doesn't have meat, it should be just fine." She raised an eyebrow at the boy's exclamation about being a connoisseur, evidently interested in the implications that had. So young, and already with that kind of interests? Color her surprised. "I'm fine with anything. Surprise me." Maybe this place was even worse than she thought it would be. Doug being more or less on the verge of quitting (even if, maybe ironically) so much definitely wasn't a good sign. Or maybe it actually was and she should just leave while she had the chance. "Don't look too hard, huh? I guess I'll take your advice on that regard. So..." Talking about cities and stuff was probably better than anything related to this place. "Shaula Town, huh? That's a little far from here, isn't it? Any other interesting places you've visited on your journey here? Take you're either an entrepreneur looking for an opportunity or just a trainer doing... trainery stuff. You know, gyms and that thing." Her own take on what she was doing here was probably simpler than her own questions, but it wasn't like Cecilia herself was an overly complex person. "Well, sides becoming the soul of every party I go to, I'm kinda... broadening my horizons, I guess? I have no final destination, but I want to learn as much as I can... and hopefully not on this kind of things."

♣♣♣♣♣ He supposed he should have been counting his lucky stars. Though conversation's topic was relatively mundane, Cecilia had given him the most conversation the boy had gotten throughout the entire night. He didn't really care much for the club's policy on pokemon, not being the kind of child to ever think much about such things, but he did think it was a dumbass move regardless. "Unfair, but mostly dumb, I would say." He said with a shrug of his shoulders. His father had done a very good job, if he did say so himself, in homeschooling his kid to be a self sufficient Chef, a part of it being one's own advertiser and marketer. "Barring pokemon cuts out a large segment of the possible target audience." Not something he would have done, personally, but he wouldn't have allowed people such as the majority on the dance floor in either, so whatever. "It's always nice to know I compare favorably to those dudes." He said with a wink as he grabbed at another glass and began wiping at the inside with a handkerchief. He set down the clean glass on the counter, grasping at a few bottles of different alcohols and whipping up a swift drink before sliding it off to the side to another client that had been gesturing at him from afar. "Vegetarian then; Should be easy to whip something up." He said as he reached under the counter and began to grasp regular cooking tools and ingredients for the girl's meal. As he began working on the meal, he gave the girl a smirk when she echoed his previous words, wondering if she was following the joke or taking him seriously. He was a chef, yes, though if he could be considered a connoisseur in some type of meal, salads would most definitely not be one of 'em. "I see. Well, guess even the soul of the party must take a break from the dance floor once in a while." He said with an amused grin, "Anyway, if that's what you seek Nair is a good starting point; been to Rana myself before. Pretty small town." A City like Nair was probably a large shock to the system to country bumpkin like her. It certainly been to one like him. "I've not been around that much. Explored a bit of eastern Stellara before moving North, though. It's where I caught a large number of my little dudes." He said as he reached for his waist coat and tugged it to the side, revealing the tiny, minimized Net Balls inside. "I am just a humble, multi talented Pokemon trainer, Chef, Martial Artist, awesome dancer... Oh, and future champion." He said facetiously(?). The delivery had been so straight faced that it was hard to tell, though the words could not possibly have been serious. Surely. "After this I may make way to the Western side of Stellara. I hear the beaches are nice. Port Cities are full of tourists too; pretty good for business." Some of his favored dishes sold specially well near beaches; people just seemed to get in the mood for that special kind of craving it seemed. "Say; will you be trying the gym challenge?" He asked after a second, looking at her.

Cecilia found herself agreeing with the barista quickly enough. His arguments were solid, and pretty much went with her way of thinking. There wasn't much she could say about, at least until he mentioned her hometown. "Rana's pleasant as it is, honestly. Wouldn't have it any other way." In all honesty, she didn't know what was the deal with big cities; sure, they have more amenities and that stuff, but the breakneck pace most of them had was not her jam, so to say. "What about Shaula? Did you like it there, or you prefer places like this?" Of course, she was referring to Nair as a whole, given that his opinion on the club was obvious enough already. Her interest war furtherly piqued at the mention of his travels, and while... "It's still... way more than me. Kinda just began my journey and stuff." While the pokéballs didn't do much to impress her, the notion of him being on what she considered a pretty decent number of places was enough to keep her going. "Would you recommend any place you went through? Or is Nair the most interesting stop you had thus far?" She acknowledged his many titles with a grin and a giggle, observing how confident he seemed to be about it. "Well, at least I got to meet you before you became even more famous. Guess I'm pretty lucky; hope you'll remember your old acquaintances when they ask you an autograph down the line!" Eastern Stellara sounded like a nice place, she knew for a fact that Anorith loves sand, beaches, and swimming. Maybe she'd have to visit the region down the line. They'd have fun for sure! "Sounds like a pretty good plan! Hope you don't mind if I copy it at some point in the future. Beaches sound way nicer than nightclubs by a mile or so, in my opinion." Waiting for her dish, she made a dismissive gesture with her hand as soon as the word "gym" was mentioned. "Nah, I don't really like pokémon battles. Just here to have a good time and that stuff. What about you?"

♣♣♣♣♣ Doug couldn't disagree with her. The city lost its charm quickly after you spent a few hours in it. "Shaula was fine. Bit old fashioned and kind of sleepy for a town of Martial Artists and Dragons, but still much better than these concrete jungles." He replied. "The city has its charms, but I just can't deal with how noisy it is." He wouldn't have changed much of his town; maybe their obsession with keeping technological advancements at bay. Some of the tech in the city was so convenient... It was still a big maybe, however, If technology meant becoming like one of the big cities, letting Shaula stay as it was would be the better choice by far. As for recommendations... Honestly, he hadn't really been around that much. He could make a few recommendations off the top of his head, though. "Eastern Stellara has Irra Beach, if you are into that kind of stuff. I prefer Kaxyl Forest myself; been going there since I was a little kid. Perfect spot for bug catching, or just bug studying in general, really. I used to draw a lot of the Bugs I saw there." Before he graduated to actually capturing them. His slew of self congratulatory titles was met with a giggle and what he was fairly sure was a playful barb. Maybe she was actually being serious? He couldn't help but snort at the thought.
He reached into his pocket, producing his contact card for her. It had a simple, black matte surface with a neon green spider web dipping into the lower left corner. His PokeNav contact info was written onto it, as well. It also read: ' Douglas Freeman, Future Pokemon Champion'. Well, now she knew if he had just been kidding around before. "If I ever forget, just show me this and smack me upside the head. Should kick off my memory." He said with a playful wink, not able to keep character for long and breaking into a snort shortly after. He could not disagree with her; Beaches were so much better than these damn clubs. "Yeah! There's literally nothing you can't do at a club that isn't better at the beach!" Dancing? Check. Hanging out with friends? Check. No creeps approaching you and putting the moves on you? Eh... Well, it was easier to deal with them during the day while surrounded by a lot of people than in the dark night club, at least. "Like I said before, Irra Beach. I took a jog in the morning over there a while back; real nice." He wondered what Squall was doing these days... His thoughts were interrupted when Cecilia dismissed the idea of ever challenging gyms. "Really?" He asked, blinking at her as if the concept flew over his head entirely. "How come?" He had to ask. There plenty of reasons for people to not like pokemon battling, mind you, but every time he met a person who didn't like it, he just needed to ask. "You know I'm just here for the money." He said with a smirk shortly after. "And to scout the Nair City Gym." He remembered shortly after, before glancing at his wristwatch. "My shift should be nearly over soon, actually." His substitute couldn't get there quickly enough.
