Brooke Stroud looked again at the calendar app on her Pokenav. Today was the day she'd finally take on her first challenge at the Baltis City Gym! The challenger this time was Vincent Valentine , a relatively new Trainer. This would be a good time to test if the puzzle she had had the city council design for her waterpark Gym would be worth the trouble or not! Also, getting a chance to battle for the first time in a while wouldn't hurt either. She just hoped that the challenger was cute. ...No, she couldn't think about that right now! She was a Gym Leader, and she had a job to do! She had to impress the League by doing her best, otherwise she wouldn't be able to keep her position!
Once the Challenger walked into the waterpark, he would have to go sign in at the desk. Once that finished, he would be lead by a few of the lifeguards to the back, where a huge, tangled mess of waterslides loomed over his head. To progress, he'd have to climb up to the very top and go down the correct slides to reach her. How he made it there was all up to his wit and observational skills! OOC: You must go through three slides to reach Brooke. There are three options at each stop. It's up to you to make the right choice based on things your character observes around them. If your post is deemed worthy, you'll get to immediately fight Brooke. If it's not quite up to snuff, then you'll fight a random Trainer and have to do it all over again!

The First Challenge!
"I still can't believe the Baltis' City Gym is one giant waterpark." Vincent muttered as he steppd inside the theme park, soon enough signing up at the desk since he wasn't just a normal person stepping into the building -- he was a trainer and thus he was here for one and one thing only.
To challenge the Gym Leader for their badge and recognition!
Though he could have done without one thing in particular...
Vincent blushed as he walked on, his face remaining as stern-faced as ever as he was aware of the stares that he was getting because of his state of attire, not that he wasn't the only one male wearing shorts and complete shirtless, as this WAS a waterpark and thus it was expected you'd bring clothes for such an occasion. But it was clear that, alongside a few others inside the waterpark, he made sure to take care of his body and exercise properly.
It could also just be because he towered over mostly everyone with his six foot and eight-inches stature, now that he thought about it, it was probably a combination of both of those that was earning him some looks. "What are y'all looking at!?" He snarled at the onlookers, making most of them quickly look away and mind their own business.
Shaking his head from those thoughts, he followed the two lifeguards towards the back of the waterpark, soon looking up with wide eyes at the tangled mess of waterslides that loomed overhead casting shadows over him. "So I'll have to climb up to the very top and find the Gym Leader?" He asked one of the guards, who merely nodded and didn't say anything else; which was expected but still disappointing in a way.
"Right, well, let's do this." He approached the slides, making sure that as he did so he looked closely at how the slides twisted and turned, connected and spread apart at random points, seeming like they lead to somewhere in particular but he couldn't really tell what as they were so interconnected it was hard to almost keep track of them.
"So the Gym Leader is waiting behind one of these, eh?" He mused to himself as he began to scale to the top, trying to keep track of the slides as he went up but soon lost track, but no matter as right at the top there was a monitor that kindly told him the area he should be aiming for, and he nodded his head in determination now that he a clue to work this out.
Sighing through his nose, he stepped up to the three slides, taking a bit of time to think about which one to take first before taking the middle one, soon going down until he reached the first stop. Visibility was almost zero now that he was in the maze of slides, and he had to crouch a little to stand there, an annoyed expression crossing his features as he stood there hunched like the facsimile of a Midnight Lycanroc. "Right... based on what I saw on the monitor, I just need to find the slide that leads there, shouldn't be too bad..." But first he needed to cross the second slide, but he needed to be careful as one wrong move and he'd have to start all over again.
He looked around, a frown pulling at his lips as he spotted the three slides that would take him down, but the question now was which one to take? He approached each slide, trying to identify some sort of clue that could help him, and almost invisible unless you were looking for it he spotted a crudely carved arrow in one of the slides, and he rose a brow in curiosity. Perhaps from a previous challenger, left behind to offer pity to those that couldn't find the way? Shaking his head and deciding to not look at a gifted horse in the mouth, he continued on to the next slide -- the left one and after a bit of time he found himself at the last stop before he'd find his destination.
His nose wrinkled in irritation as he saw that two slides were the exact same fucking color, the stern-looking man not really seeing the difference in shades as both looked the same to his eyes. He tried to search for clues, concentrating so hard his eyes almost seemed to become cross-eyed. Shaking his head, he closed his eyes and thought deeply about what could be the correct path to take, and then when he opened his eyes he blinked in confusion at what he was seeing. It almost seemed like a trick of the light, but one of the slides seemed to glow brightly than the other ones, the male tilting his head to the side in confusion at the strange phenomenon before it vanished like a mirage.
"Weird... must've been a trick of the light..." Even so, he decided to trust his guts on this one and chose the one that appeared to have glowed moments before, not noticing that as he did so his feet stepped over a few stands of blue-hair on the entrance of it. As he went down the last slide, the tall male hoped that he had taken the correct path and found the Gym Leader on the other side.

Brooke wasn't really prepared for the challenger to emerge from the correct slide on the first try. As he splashed in and made his way onto the platform, she took a moment to get a good look at him. He was...really big, and kind of intimidating. Brooke was shocked that someone of his stature was even able to fit through the slides, much less make it all the way down! "Wow, I'm impressed!" Brooke admitted out loud. "Not many people make it to me on their first attempt. As you may have guessed, I'm the Gym Leader, Brooke! When you're ready, we can get started!" She was going through her usual spiel on autopilot, since she was distracted by the man's...physique. It was clear he took care of his body. She had to do everything in her power to quit staring at his abs and get started on the battle. She took a moment to explain the rules. "So, the info I got told me this is your first Gym Battle. It'll be three Pokemon each, and you can use items if you want! Other than that, it's just a regular battle!" She got a Poke Ball ready and looked toward the camera that was displaying their location at the top of the slide tower. With a nod, she had the lifeguard at the top turn the display on a giant TV out in the main waterpark, so everyone could see the challenge in progress! "Now, let's begin! I choose you, Mudkip!" A flick of her wrist let the Poke Ball shoot out into the arena, revealing her first Pokemon, a Mudkip. The little axlotl looked eager to begin. OOC: It's time for the battle to start! Send out your first Pokemon, and make the first move!

The First Challenge!
The tall male looked at the Gym Leader, blinking twice as he realized how young she looked but shook those thoughts away. Youth was debatable when it came to a Trainer's skills, and since she was the Gym Leader it meant she was either some sort of prodigy or crazy good at what she did. He wouldn't do the stupid mistake of underestimate her like some sort of foolish fool would have done simply because of her age.
Still, even as she spoke, he noticed her stare and rubbed the back of his nape self-consciously. "It wasn't easy, per se. I just had luck by finding out someone carved an arrow in one of the slides, and then just... went with my gut feeling. I could have easily hit a dead end, heh." He said modestly to ward off her amazement at his deed. Still, her mention of using items made him pause, a bead of sweat traveling down the side of his face as he realized that so far he hasn't bothered to buy supplies besides from the ones he had on his person.
Once this battle was over, he'd rectify that immediately, among other things he should have probably done in advance before having decided to challenge the Gym Leader. But enough about that, he needed to worry about the trials ahead now, and he fingered one of the Pokeballs he carried with him, knowing that he only had three Pokemon fits to face this challenge since the one that he recently caught would be stomped to the ground if he tried to use him here.
Hopefully, the people watching the battle wouldn't judge him too harshly for being a bit underprepared, but oh well. "Mudkip, eh?" It was a Pokemon that could, later on, evolve into a Swampert, completely nullifying one of the basic weakness of Water-Types because of his Dual Typing of Ground.
Any of his Pokemon could go ahead and face the Mudkip, but he wanted to save the one that would have an advantage over her Typing for last, but something told him that luxury wouldn't work in his favor. His mind made, he took out a Net Ball. "Oshawott, front and center!" Phasing into existence in front of him stood the Sea Otter Pokemon, who immediately began to look around in search for something shiny, only to lower his shoulders in sadness when there wasn'bootysort of booty around, besides the colorful display of slides and water -- which worked to lift up his spirits a little.
( Wha' be it that ye wants, ye fool? ) Oshawott asked, his accent and manner of speaking almost like a Pirate you see in the movies as he turned around and leveled his trainer with a look. Vincent winced, remembering that he still needed to train and educate the Oshawott before he could truly become a stable member of his team or his crew as the Sea Otter Pokemon liked to call it. Well, he already called it out, so it was too late now. "This is a Gym Battle, Oshawott, and that's your opponent." He pointed, and the Water-Type turned to stare at the Mudkip with a look before stepping forth, a challenging grin upon his mouth. ( A fellow dweller o' th' seas, eh? I shall give ye no quarter! )
"Alright. Oshawott, get in close and use Tackle-Whip!" Vincent ordered, the Oshawott looking at his trainer like he was crazy for a moment for calling such a move like that, but realization shone in his eyes and he turned back towards his opponent with a feral grin. ( I shall make ye walk th' plank! ) The Sea Otter Pokemon dashed forward, aimed to Tackle his opponent as he lunged, his body rolling forward as he did so, hit or miss he'd rectify his posture and then that's when his tail came would lash out to smack at the Mudkip's face to lower his guard!
TAGS: Brooke Stroud OOC NOTES: Oshawott used Tackle and Tail Whip as a combo with the aim to hurt and drop the Mudkip's Defense!

“Brooke!” A woman in a yellow swimsuit ran towards the blue-haired gym leader. When she reached Brooke, she quickly whispered something to her and ushered for Brooke to head out of the gym. “It’s really important,” she told Brooke. The battle between Brooke and Vincent came to an abrupt end. Brooke recalled her Pokemon and turned to Vincent. “I’m very sorry. There is some extremely important business that I must attend to,” she explained. “However, I will let you challenge one of the gym trainers for a badge! Good luck! Maybe later, you can come back, and we can have a real battle!” With that, Brooke hurried off, leaving Vincent with the young woman. “And you will be challenging me! I’m Kelsie!” the woman in the yellow swimsuit said. She looked to be in her mid-twenties with green eyes, tanned skin and a supple physique. “It’s nice to meet you. So! This is how the gym battle’s going to go. It’s going to be a one-on-one; we’ll use one Pokemon each. You may use one item, so make it count! If you beat me, you’ll get the Angler Badge! Sound good?” Kelsie produced a Pokeball and tossed it into the air. It cracked open, releasing a Dewott onto one of the many platforms scattered throughout the water-filled field. The Dewott stood up tall and smirked at Vincent and his Oshawott. “Say hello to Dewott!” Kelsie said. Dewott was like Vincent’s Oshawott but better. “You can either go with your Oshawott there, or choose another Pokemon! I don’t mind!” Kelsie called. “Whenever you’re ready, you can have the first move, challenger-- wait, what’s your name?”Level 17 - Male - Torrent Tackle, Tail Whip, Water Gun, Water Sport, Focus Energy, Sacred Sword
