ECHOES, SILENCE, PATIENCE & GRACE Everett's house in Shaula Town was still under construction, so while that was going on, he figured he'd take some more time to explore the region around him with his now-complete team. His travels today took him to Hamal Town. He had been told that the hot springs here were simply magical, so he had to come and check it out for himself. He had been to some pretty stellar hotsprings as a kid when his family would go on vacation to Hoenn and Kanto, but none of them were talked up quite as heavily as Hamal Town's. The team were tucked away in their Poke Balls. There were a bit too many of them now to just have them follow him around, and he didn't really want to play favorites. If the opportunity arose, he'd let them out for some fun, but for now they were too much hassle. tags ✖ notes

WITH EVERY BROKEN BONE, I SWEAR I LIVED "Finally, we made it." Lou breathed as he waded through the thin layer of mist that surrounded the town of Hamal. Ah, the hot springs! It was easy to see that he was excited about the whole thing, since a nice, long soak sounded really great right now. He had visited a few hot springs in his life time, sure, but it didn't mean that he was tired of them. Heck no! Al, on the other hand, seemed rather bothered by the increase in humidity. His other Pokemon were inside their Pokeballs since today was a particularly busy day, it seemed--lots of people walking around and buying things. He even spotted some quite knicknacks and keychains in a few of the stalls. "(I would like to go somewhere airier soon.)""Oh lighten up, Al. They say this place has ~magical~ healing properties. Don't you want to check that out?""(The last time you made me try a hot spring, I almost died.)" the Unown responded with the blankest look it could muster. "Are you talking about that time you stayed too long by accident? Well, you don't have to soak in the water. You can just stay in the daycare or something." he offered, though knowing his partner, he'd rather stick by him than being left in the company of other imposing Pokemon. "(N-no thanks. Let's just get this over with.)" he said while shaking his body; an indication of a clear "no". "You'll be fine. The others will be with you too, and since you're the oldest and have experience, you better watch out for them in case they accidentally overheat themselves too."He made sure to look for one that allowed Pokemon as well, and even if it were a public one, he was pretty sure that they kept it clean. There wasn't much of a line in the lobby area since there were many hot springs scattered around the town. While competition looked heavy, it seemed like most businesses were doing well. He went first to a vending machine and bought a bottle of cold milk before lining up. "One person and four Pokemon, please." with his slot paid, he was left to keep his things in an assigned locker and remove his clothes. Before that though, he decided to take a look at the premises, letting out his other Pokemon to take a look. Obviously, his newest addition to the team turned a couple of heads. Nugget immediately felt rather nervous. "It's alright, we can relax here." he comforted the shiny Growlithe. Daisy and Hemlock, on the other hand, were excitedly checking out all the little things they could spot, from the interior decor to the souvenir shop. Al decided to join the two kids while Nugget stuck close to Lou.

ECHOES, SILENCE, PATIENCE & GRACE Everett finally made his way into the first public hot spring he saw and looked around. Nearby, he spotted another Trainer with a few Pokemon of his own! Naturally, he walked up and tried to drum up some conversation. "Some pretty cool Pokemon you have there!" he said, nodding to his team. "I'm assuming you're here for the hot springs, too?" His eye was suddenly caught by the Growlithe that the Trainer was comforting. It didn't seem to look like a normal Growlithe. Weren't those usually orange?"Sorry, I should introduce myself!" he apologized quickly, realizing that he tried coming up and randomly starting conversation with a complete stranger based only on the fact that he was carrying Pokemon with him. "I'm Everett Mercer, and I'm a Trainer, too!"The other Pokemon on the Trainer's team seemed to include Chikorita, Skorupi, and some other Pokemon that Everett didn't recognize. It looked to be shaped like the letter A. Everett decidedd that it was probably okay to let his team out, as well. He got out all their Poke Balls and threw them out, summoning his entire team for the other Trainer to potentially look at. Caesar, Mango, Bolin, Faust, Wizzy and Darwin all looked around as soon as they came out, curious as to where they were. tags ✖ notes

WITH EVERY BROKEN BONE, I SWEAR I LIVED Lou was a little surprised that someone went up to him and complimented his Pokemon, but he quickly recovered and showed a smile, "Thanks! And yeah, I do plan on checking out the hot spring. Who isn't here to check it out?" he responded. Nugget, on the other hand, had already let out a small bark and pawed his pants, showing his desire to be picked up because he did not want to face this tall human without some height leverage. Lou let out a light laugh, "It's alright, we all get excited from time to time. My name's Louis Beckett, nice to meet you." he then turned his head a little to face Al, "Say hi, Al. And you too, Nugget.""(Hi.)""(Scary...)" the Growlithe whimpered. When the young man showed all of his other Pokemon, Lou was ecstatic. "Wow, a full team of Pokemon!" that reminded him that he should hurry up and fill the last two slots of his team so that he could really focus on training them. He knew more than half of them, but the other two were a mystery and he was very happy about that. Making sure to support Nugget (who was shaking like a leaf now) in one hand, he pulled out his shabby Pokedex and scanned the other two. Rufflet, the Eaglet Pokémon. Rufflet's talons are powerful. Able to crack open even the toughest Berries. It often challenges stronger opponents to battle.Mimikyu, the Disguise Pokemon. A Ghost and Fairy type. It wears a ragged head cover to look like a Pikachu, but little is known about this Pokémon. It's said that a scholar who once tried to look inside met his end."Woah, Mimikyu sounds intimidating and cute at the same time." he muttered after the Pokedex finished speaking. It was then Daisy and Hemlock came back from their little souvenir trip, only to be faced by a bunch of new Pokemon. They looked at them quizzically, wondering what this guy was doing with his full team of Pokemon out. "You have some rare Pokemon there with you, Everett, though I take it that you didn't just approached me to gawk at my Pokemon." he was expecting a battle, but he couldn't match his whole team, unfortunately. A three on three would have to do, and that way Al wouldn't have to battle. Nugget had to, though, and he was pretty worried about the little guy.

ECHOES, SILENCE, PATIENCE & GRACE Everett took a moment to commit Louis' name to memory, as he had with a bunch of people since arriving in Stellara. "Nice to meet you, Louis!" he said happily, grinning at the fellow Trainer and his Pokemon.Caesar and the rest of the team quickly began to mingle with the other Pokemon nearby, trying to make some friends. The Growlithe seemed to be too timid to socialize, but the other Pokemon seemed friendly enough!Louis assumed that Everett was looking for a battle. The young man chuckled. "That was actually the last thing in my mind, but if you don't mind, I'd love to get some training out of the way!" He did a quick headcount. "What do you say to a Double Battle?"The team heard that it was almost time for a battle and looked at each other to decide who would join up. Everyone looked to Bolin and Mango, who looked at each other quizically. This would be the first time they would battle together instead of against each other. Would they be able to put their rivalry aside to take care of business?

WITH EVERY BROKEN BONE, I SWEAR I LIVED "Huh, really? I guess Stellara's trainers are not as battle-hungry as other regions, but training sounds like a good idea." Lou agreed, taking a quick glance at all of his and Everett's Pokemon. He was surprised at the proposed format though, as the young man had rarely participated in Double Battles, and even then it was generally not the first idea one would have. Still, it was an interesting proposition, and he didn't see any reason to refuse. "That works for me."Now the problem was who to send out? He probably wouldn't be able to convince Al to fight, even if he was the oldest among everyone and watched the most battles. The Unown actually could be a mini tactician if he wanted to be; he was very familiar with typing and a number of moves. But, still, he wasn't going to fight. Daisy was definitely a candidate, though she has participated in many more battles than Hemlock and Nugget, so putting her here felt a little redundant. She was rather ahead of the team right now, and while there was no problem training Hemlock, Nugget, on the other hand... Hmm, maybe by working with another Pokemon, it wouldn't be so scary for the young Growlithe? That sounded like a plan, Lou thought. He wasn't sure if his own Pokemon would agree, though. And also they couldn't possibly battle here--they were outside the hot spring establishment. As it turns out, one of the locals seemed to notice all of the Pokemon crowding their area and shouted at them, "If you're going to battle, I suggest you do it over there!" he then pointed at a nearby dome building that seemed to look like a stadium. Well, that was convenient, "Thank you!""(Wait, did you say battle?)" Nugget whined, not liking where this was going. "(Yess a battle! Time to show off my awesome skills!!)" Hemlock cheered. "(Meh, I want to sit this one out.)" Daisy muttered, "(I thought we were going to relax, not get dirty.)""(No changing your mind, huh, Louis?)" his trainer only showed him a cheeky grin. "Come on, guys, it'll be fun! Let's head there before other trainers beat us to the fields." he, of course, gestured Emerett to follow suit since he assumed that the other trainer heard what the local said about the stadium. After this, they could just walk back and have a nice, relaxing time at the hot springs.

ECHOES, SILENCE, PATIENCE & GRACE Everett laughed when Louis explained that he assumed everyone from Stellara was crazy for battling. "Well, I'm actually from Unova!" he explained. "But I love a good battle when I feel like it!" He turned to his team and confirmed their suspicions. Mango and Bolin would be the two selected for the Double Battle. Everyone looked concerned, but Everett kept his placid expression. "I know you two have the potential to work together and be really great," he said, kneeling down to be on their level. "Do you guys think you can do it?" Neither of them answered, but that didn't make Everett any less sure.
Louis and Everett were directed over to a nearby community stadium, where they would have their battle. Once everyone got situated, Everett and his two Pokemon took their spots on the battlefield, ready to begin. "We'll let you guys have the first move!" he said, trying to be gracious.

WITH EVERY BROKEN BONE, I SWEAR I LIVED "Really now? I've only visited Unova for a short time, but it looks like an awesome place. I'm from Johto." he responded, happy to hear from another person who's not from Stellara--actually they were all over the place. It looked like he was not the only one that was being called to check this place out, almost as if a homing beacon had been lit that attracted trainers all over. Well, anyway, back to the subject at hand...he was pretty set on picking Hemlock and Nugget, but he wasn't sure how to calm the poor Growlithe down with his choice. He would burn that bridge when he got there, he supposed. It came a lot faster than he planned. It didn't take long for them to reach the stadium and he had to spill the news. "(Y-you're picking meeEEEE?)" the shiny Growlithe screamed, which Lou had thought was how he used Roar. "Well, you really do need to battle at some point, otherwise how're you going to get over your fear?" he was squatting down to make sure that they were at eye level. Hemlock, who was raring to go, felt impatient that they had to go through all this before the battle. "(Come on, Nug, they're already waiting for us!)" the Skorupi pressed. Feeling the pressure, Nugget slowly inched his way to the battlefield and took his position. "(I don't like this...)" he mumbled, looking down and whimpering. "It'll be fine, Nugget! Just listen and help Hemlock!" he took a good look at their opponents: a Heracross and one of the new Pokemon to him, a Rufflet. The Heracross was definitely going to be a challenge, but if Nugget used Ember frequently, they may be able to bring them down. Rufflet was clearly a flying type, which would pose an issue to Hemlock, but if they were careful, it could work. "(Well, this is going to be fun.)" Daisy grinned as she comfortably lied down nearby Lou's side. She was very glad that she didn't get picked. Now she could watch the battle and groom to her heart's content. "Alright, let's go! Nugget, start with Roar!""(PLEASE DON'T HURT MEEEEEE!!)" the Growlithe screamed at the top of his lungs, effectively acting as both his ability (Intimidate) and as Roar, though it failed to push his opponents back to their Poke balls since they were only using two Pokemon anyway. Still, Lou was just aiming for them to get distracted, "Hemlock, take the left Pokemon and use Knock Off!""(Gotcha!)" the Skorupi deftly tried to ignore the noise and rush towards the Heracross. With his right claw exuding black sparks, he made a lunge straight for Bolin.
Battle Log: 1. Nugget used Roar! (+Intimidate, attack has been lowered!) 2. Hemlock used Knock Off on Bolin!

ECHOES, SILENCE, PATIENCE & GRACE The battle started quickly, and Louis picked his Skorupi and oddly-colored Growlithe to battle. The Growlithe seemed to be scared out of his wits, screaming at the top of his lungs for his opponents not to hurt him. Somehow, this managed to unnerve both Mango and Bolin, and neither of them knew why. Before they knew it, the Skorupi was taking off for Bolin. The Heracross quickly tried to get his bearings, and attempted to sidestep to the right to get out of the way of Hemlock's attack. However, he wasn't counting on his teammate rushing in with a Peck attack. Mango's original intent was to use his superior speed to intercept the Knock Off attack, but when Bolin sidestepped he put himself in the bath of the attack. Bolin was knocked back into his original position by the attack, and subsequently damaged by Knock Off."Bolin!" Everett cried out. "Are you okay?""(What the hell was that for?)" Bolin snapped to Mango."(It wasn't my fault!)" Mango screeched back. "(Don't get in my way when I'm trying to attack!)"The rest of the team was looking on from the sideline as this spectacle was going on. "(Those idiots,)" Caesar sighed. "(They're going to make Everett look bad!)""(Do those two hate each other or something?)" Darwin asked. As the newest member of the team, he wasn't really up to speed on the tension between Mango and Bolin. Everett, meanwhile, attempted to gain some footing in the fight after a strong preemptive start by Louis. "Bolin, use Horn Attack! Get him away!" Bolin immediately did as instructed. His large horn began to glow white as he tried to bring it down on Hemlock.
Battle Log: 1. Bolin attempted to dodge Hemlock's Knock Off. 2. Mango accidentally hit Bolin with Peck! 3. Bolin was knocked back into Knock Off. 4. Bolin used Horn Attack!

WITH EVERY BROKEN BONE, I SWEAR I LIVED Admittedly, Hemlock wasn't sure what happened in the span of those few seconds. His claw connected with the large blue bug, but there was some miscommunication or something going on with the other Pokemon? Well, nevertheless, he immediately used the force of the Knock Off to push himself back a relatively safe distance. Nugget was, unsurprisingly, covering his eyes and whimpering. "(Nug, come on! They're going to hit you if you just lie there!)""(Wah...I just want to go to the hot springs...)" he whined, but followed his teammate and stood up. Lou was trying to assess the situation with the interruption of the Rufflet. Man, that Heracross took an unnecessary hit. It looked like these two actually didn't get along very well. His trainer must've known that, though, so maybe if they let this battle drag, Lou might be seeing a loss in his near future. Well, that means that they needed to make sure they had to use this confusion to their advantage! The Heracross' horn glowed white as he charged in for a Horn Attack, and he was too fast to dodge it. "Hemlock, move! Nugget, used Ember on Heracross!"The Skorupi panicked but did as told, trying to get some distance from the charging bug Pokemon but ultimately couldn't dodge it. The Horn Attack blasted him almost to the edge of the field, but Nugget was still running at the side to attempt an Ember. He wasn't really sure how to control even such a weak flame though, and ultimately sort of missed by making the fire go all over the place, including the top of Rufflet's head. "(D-did I get him?!)" he squeaked, unsure of what was going on. "Hemlock, are you alright?"The Skorupi felt some pain and had a bit of a hard time standing at first, but he managed to push himself up. "(Still okay!)" he cried. Lou nodded--looks like they could still keep going. He called his Pokemon back closer to him before he issued the next chain of commands. "Hemlock, use Poison Sting! Nugget, hang back until you can find an opening and use Tackle!""(T-that's so complicated...what was the first thing again?)""(Get down!)" the Skorupi shot out a wave of purple darts at his general direction, meant to deter off their opponents or at least slow them down. "(This isn't going to end well.)" Daisy muttered as she watched the battle. Battle Log:1. Nugget used Roar! (+Intimidate, attack has been lowered!) 2. Hemlock used Knock Off on Bolin! (Hit!) -- 3. Hemlock got a direct hit from Horn Attack! 4. Nugget attempted to use Ember! 5. Hemlock used Poison Sting!

ECHOES, SILENCE, PATIENCE & GRACE The battle continued, and the oddly-colored Growlithe shot a weak flurry of fire towards the team. It wasn't too hard to get out of the way, but a stray ember managed to make its way to the top of Mango's head. Horrified, the Rufflet flew around the arena, screaming and squaking his head off as the flame burned on his feather atop his head. After a few seconds, it went out, revealing that the carefully preened, pastel-red feather had been singed slightly. Mango's eyes gleamed with rage as he looked toward his attacker, Nugget. Without an order or prompting, he soared through the air in his trademark way and attempted to Peck at the Growlithe. Not even Hemlock's Poison Sting could get in his way. Mango was pissed.Bolin, meanwhile, was still being set upon by the Skorupi's attack. Thanks to that Peck from Mango, he was a little bit weaker than before. The Poison Sting didn't seem to do a whole lot, but it did keep him from being able to support Mango.
-Mango gets pissed and launches a Peck at Nugget, dodging Hemlock's Poison Sting -Bolin is stopped by Poison Sting, taking a little damage, but thankfully not getting poisoned!

WITH EVERY BROKEN BONE, I SWEAR I LIVED Oh no, the bird Pokemon clearly looked pissed because of his singed feather, and now he was heading straight for Nugget. The Growlithe yelped in terror as he got relentlessly pecked by the angry Rufflet, crying in pain before managing a loud roar to push him a sizeable distance. The puppy Pokemon then bolted straight for Lou and then continued to whine, not wanting to battle anymore. "Come on, Nugget, we need to at least finish this." he chided, unsure of how to get him back on the field. It would be unfair to send out another Pokemon since both sides had already taken some amount of damage, but he wasn't sure how to get his own Pokemon to stop crying. Unless... "Hey, what if I cut you a deal?" he asked while digging into his bag. The trainer then pulled out a bag of treats--it turned out to be one of Nugget's favourites. Immediately the Pokemon stopped bawling and perked up; his eyes keenly focused on the paper bag. He glanced at the battlefield, thinking that he should give Hemlock some kind of command so that he wouldn't just be standing there. "Hemlock, use Leer and then follow up with another Knock Off!""(You got it!)" after exhausting the Poison Sting attack, the bug Pokemon stood his ground and shot a harsh glare at the Heracross, attempting to lower his defence. At the same time, the Skorupi readied his stance so that he could burst into a lunge towards his opponent; his claw once again enveloped in a dark energy. It would be better to take down one Pokemon rather than dealing with both at the same time. Back to Nugget, Lou quickly tried to resolve the situation with a bribe. "I'll give you some of these if you go back to the battle, okay?""(O-okay!)" for food, he'd do anything! The Growlithe then hopped back into the field. "Alright, Nugget, support Hemlock with Bite!" the shiny Pokemon wasn't sure how he was going to do that without bumping into his teammate, but then again Heracross was a rather big Pokemon. Maybe he could aim for one of his arms? The small puppy ran towards his opponent, making sure to lag behind a little from Hemlock so that he could get the first hit. Battle Log:- Nugget got pecked pretty badly by Rufflet! - Nugget used Roar to get away, but got too spooked to battle! - Lou got to bribe the puppy with food! - Hemlock attempted to use Leer on Heracross before launching another Knock Off! - Nugget is now trailing behind his teammate with the intent to use Bite!
