Night had come awful fast, even with the winter solstice taken into account. Cooper's only source of warmth came from his little coat and the earth around him while he burrowed through the wet earth. He had been digging for a good quarter-hour now, and the dirt around here was getting rather unstable. A certain someone hunting down a Grubbin would only have to follow the risen clumps of mud and dirt from Cooper's tunnel to locate the boy.
Cooper swiped away at some more mud, only to wince as water began to trickle into his tunnel. He yelped in shock, quickly backing away and digging back to the surface to avoid a flooding underground. The muddy teen shook his head and wiped some grime off his face. Cygni City had to be close now, at least, though this corner of the swamp was supposed to be infested with all sorts of hostile nocturnal bugs at this hour.
Perhaps it was best to set up camp for now.
Cooper had laid out his thin blanket under a willow tree while a light drizzle began to trickle from the clouds above. He started a small fire with some help from his Spark attack, giving some source of light in the dark... Cooper looked down to his Pokeballs, all propped on a belt around his waist. The rest of his party was probably fast asleep- there was no need to disturb them.
The grubbin boy sighed, propping his hat atop his head and leaning against the willow tree, eyeing some stars that began to appear in the spotless black sky above, failing to notice the sound of someone else approaching...

 Let the Hunt Begin Night. It was the predator's element, a time where one could easily conceal herself so their prey couldn't see her coming. During a hunt like this, Diana would normally try an mask her scent, but since she was hunting a bug Pokemon like Grubbin, there wasn't much of a point. However, what she WASN'T happy about was that after she found the trail for the little bug, it was in an area with weak tree branches. See, Diana had been hired by some middle-class woman to hunt down and capture her a Grubbin. Judging by her home, and her adverse reaction to bug Pokemon in general, it was for her child as a Starter Pokemon. While it was a nice sentiment, she had to find it first before she could get paid. She hadn't had much luck until she found the tell-tale signs of one with its holes. Which is why she much preferred if she could travel by tree branches, but the wispy branches of the willow tree could barely support themselves, let alone her and Umbriel's full body weight. As she made her way through the Largia Swamp, she could hear the slight pit-pat of rain and her feet against the Swamp. She glanced over to Umbriel, who was having a better time of being stealthy then her, seeing as she was lighter. Diana huffed, before noticing the clumps of dirt around a hole, dug by what looked to be a Grubbin. She glanced at Umbriel, then pointed sidelong at the hole. With a light-blue fist of Ice, Umbriel jumped into it to find... a child? (What in the world!?) Umbriel exclaimed in her native tongue aloud, though it only came out as jibberish to the Huntress. "Umbriel! What'cha find?" Diana yelled down into the hole, not quite seeing what he was by the light of her fists, but judging as she was lowering her claws, it wasn't her target. Or even one that would be a threat. @sketch ✖ First encounter and he almost gets ice punched. good start, good start

A WILD... GRUBBIN APPEARED?
Cooper had begun to pick away at some of the grass and flowers surrounding himself out of boredom, lying down on his belly atop his spotted yellow blanket. It took awhile, but he even found a four-leaf clover in the mix of little plants! Maybe this was the day his crappy luck would finally turn around.
Prank'd, Cooper's luck was still in the gutter.
With a high-pitched yelp of surprise and terror, Cooper would hit the decks and try and cover his head when something lunged out of the little tunnel he dug earlier, an attack ready. His hat fell off in the process, leaving his grubbin dome to shine in the light of the moon above. Not that Cooper noticed, as he was huddled against the tree and too gosh darn scared to come out of his balled position.
One of Cooper's pokeballs hit the ground, the pokemon inside being released with a flash of light. (Chip will save Cooper!) A squeaky voice called in Pokespeak. A Deino reared her head, and while facing the wrong direction, rammed right into the tree. That didn't stop her from opening her jaws and biting at it, muttering childish "profanities" in the pokemon language while clawing at the tree and biting at it's bark like a snack as if it were what was threatening Cooper. Being bling sucked, Chip could tell anyone that much.
Still, Cooper didn't come out of his curled position, even with his dysfunctional Deino out to protect him. What a team.

Let the Hunt Begin When the flash of light emerged, Umbriel prepared herself for a fight. Even if Diana wasn't around quite yet, as she was still catching up, she could defend herself. As the light cleared, Umbriel heard the battle cry of someone trying to protect the human, whose name was apparently Cooper. Umbriel jumped back, claws at the ready... when she saw the little Dragon biting a tree? As Diana appeared, a dagger out incases someone was trying to hurt her precious Pokemon... When she saw the scene before her, she couldn't help but smirk a bit. "Um, hey there" She began, sliding her hip knife back into its holster with a twirl "Sorry to startle you, me and Umbriel were just out looking for a Pokemon. Have you stumbled across a-"
and there it was.
on top of the small boys head, were a set of horns that resembled a Grubbins. Diana's head snapped to the hole, then back to the morph, then back to the hole. Diana's head hung for a moment, before yelling "DAMNIT ALL! I'VE BEEN TRACKING A BLOODY MORPH!"
Diana flopped onto the ground, and with hands on her face sighed. "How could this happen? The signs were there, the hole was WAY to big to be an actual Grubbin. But... seriously!? Some master Huntress I am." She exclaimed aloud. She began to feel her temples tighten up, a telltale sign that one of her Psychic-attacks is coming on. Best to play it off, maybe it'll go away?
As Diana stood up she looked towards the young morph and smiled a bit of a forced smile. "Hey there bud, sorry to spook you like that." Her tone was a bit shaky, she looked like she was on the verge of tears, though from laughter or from sorrow one couldn't really tell. "And this" She began, looking a bit more chipper "Is Umbriel. She's my Sneasel." The little Weasel gave a short bow of introduction.
@sketch ✖ Diana, covered in mud, goes on a bit of a rant. Heck yeah. I was also tempted to evolve Umbriel in this post, but I thought I was going on a bit too long

YOU BROKE THE GRUB. NICE.
Cooper peeked out of hiding, shuffling back as he spot a human approach. She began to speak, and didn't seem all that hostile at the moment, so Cooper would peek out again, shaking a little less... Though, when the woman cut herself off and looked at him with some sense of disbelief, Cooper presumed, he was back on the guard, and rightfully so.
"UUAAAAA-- I-I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm s-s-sorry, I--!" Cooper began when the woman began to yell about his morphiness and tracking, something something- Yet Cooper was too distraught to make heads and tails now.
Chip had managed to mosey over to Cooper, putting her head atop his curled form for some semblance of comfort. While her trainer was in panic mode, Chip managed to catch ear of what the human was saying. She was tracking a Grubbin, and found Cooper instead? Fair enough, but conveying that to the now terrified trainer would be a challenge.
With a nudge from Chip, Cooper moved an arm away from his face to look up to the human, who was apparently calmer now. She didn't seem all that calm after a good look at her, only heightening the boy's emotions. Still shaking and already sporting a wet face full of tears, Cooper glanced aside, though he managed to hastily croak out some words. "I--I'm C-C-Cooper." He spoke, still shaking. Chip huffed, nuzzling close to her trainer. Seeing the boy like this was never fun.

Let the Hunt Begin Diana had barely heard his apology when she was yelling, but she did hear an I'm sorry after his cry of fear. Was he scared of her? She thought she should be afraid of him. After all, he IS a bug and she's a Psychic. And if the types were to be believed, she's weak to him. But, fear is a thing of the mind, and they're not Pokemon(kind of) so the type chart isn't set in stone for them. Well, her anyways. Regardless, he looked scared. What did he say his name was? Connor? No, that wasn't quite right. Cooper? Maybe? "Hey, buddy I'm probably going to go into a screaming fit in a second. Just know it's not you." And with that, she dropped like a rock.
Umbrial dashed over to her and began to hug the woman, who was screaming bloody murder. Diana could not only not think straight, but couldn't even open her eyes without the moonlight above burning her retinas like a fire on a piece of paper. It was at this point that Scarlet had chosen to make a break for it. Umbriel was now torn; follow the Scyther and keep track of her, or stay with her trainer. The confusion and stress began to get to her. She looked at her claw, and strapped there was her hold item; the Razor Claw. The item began to gleam and shine, a shine which began to envelop her entire body. In moments, the Weavile began to shift from her normal state to almost a foot taller. She began to grow sturdier claws and new feathers. In moments, the Sneasel evolved into a Weavile. She looked at her claws and grinned. She looked at the Deino and said to it (Don't hurt Diana. If you do, well, my claws are cold enough to give instant Frostbite.) before dashing into the woods. Meanwhile, Diana was writhing on the ground, a slight bolt of Psionic energy crackling out of the scar on her head, but besides that, she looked to just be in pain and nothing more. @sketch ✖ Step one: scare the Cooper. Step two: Trauma!
