MYSTERY INCORPORATED
"...T-This really is th-the plot of a h-horror movie..." Cooper groans as he pushes the door to the Fomalhaul Estate closed, the harsh winds of a sudden storm fighting back. Cooper shakes, water splattering in every which way. A call from his side draws Cooper's attention. Chip, a Deino he caught not too long ago, looked up with her tongue out of her mouth and a wagging tail, oblivious to the frighteningly decrepit interior of the house they were forced to take shelter in for the night.
Taking off his hat and wringing it out, Cooper leans back against the door as the winds howled outside. A little spark formed between his horns for light while his blinded partner fumbled forwards with her usual doofy smile, Cooper in tow. "Let's just... Find somewhere remotely safe to sleep in this place, okay?" Cooper chimed to his partner. Cheerie could keep watch while they slept also... But, before Cooper could get far, the sound of pans and pots being knocked over in the nearby kitchen alerted him and his Deino. Flinching and jolting back in fear, the boy could only watch as a shape leaped out of the shadows...

MEETING CYTO
With a flash, Cooper found a pair of beady, narrowed eyes nearly pressed right against his face. The boy yelped and fell, with his back pressed against the door and his entire form trembling. The strange green gel orb didn't seem fazed, floating forwards and eyeing the little boy. Chip chirped in alarm, glancing about and snapping in every which way before running forwards, ramming into a coat rack and knocking it over. Still, the odd green ball was intently focused on Cooper while Chip tried to wiggle out of a pile of dusty clothes. <...Interesting.> A voice chimed in Cooper's... head? This did little to keep the boy calm, only amping up his fear level. "U-Uh..." Cooper croaked, momentarily eyeing the Solosis, as he identified.
The pokemon narrowed it's eyes once more, briefly eyeing the storm outside before floating back down to Cooper's eye level. He could spot some... orange thing beneath Cooper's hat. Curious. With a brisk yank with his telekinesis, the cell pokemon pried on the hat, causing Cooper to retreat further into his balled position and try to keep his hat on, but with a more powerful pull, the Solosis tore off the accessory. Cooper raised his head and tried to cover his exoskeletal grubbin dome, but the green ball in front of him could see perfectly. <What... are you exactly, child?> The voice echoed again, with the Solosis' body tilted like a head.
Cooper was too scared to move now, still shivering and snivelling. <...Hm.> The Solosis paused before floating around the boy once more, callously ignoring his current fearful state. <I will not take this silent treatment, young one.> Cooper merely curled up even more, earning a bubbled groan from the oversized cell. The Deino was still stuck in a pile of clothes, but not for long, likely. <Fine, fine. I'll play your way.>
The pokemon's eyes flashed bright again, with Cooper suddenly having a dizzy spell in response. His vision swirled, and the grubbin boy went limp on the ground, though he was still conscious. A few defiant grunts flew from his form as he tried to push himself back to his feet, but he was too gosh darn dizzy and lightheaded to see properly or think.
The Solosis said something again, though Cooper couldn't make it out. He managed to raise his head, only in time to be smacked right in the face with a wave of psychic energy, knocking his lights out...
"........"
"...Urrrgghhh"
<...Oh. You are apperceptive again.>
Cooper's eyes wearily opened. He was on some small bed of the sort, though the blankets felt dry, dusty, and thin beneath his body. Glancing about as his vision returned, the boy could spot all sorts of books, bottles filled with odd juices, and all sorts of worn berries that seemed indiscernible as well. The boy pushed himself to a sitting position with one of his stubby hands on his head, which still REALLY hurt. <I'll admit, it's been awhile since some cliche storm has brought in someone as interesting as you, small one.> The solosis from before was still here.
It set down a large book and pen, hovering over to the boy and plopping itself down on a nearby rocking chair, now with a dirty clipboard and pen in hand. <Since, well, I have never seen a human with the capabilities and physical marks of a Pokemon like myself.> The solosis explained with it's telepathy, though Cooper was still frozen with fear. Had this little green ball abducted him? Cooper knew psychic types could speak telepathically, but experiencing it was certainly bone-chilling for the first time.
The boy shivered still, his fingerless mitts wrapped around his stomach. "U-Uh... O-O-Okay??" Cooper chimed back, slinking under the covers of his bed. <Were you born like this? Were you made into this? How? Why? When?> The Solosis bombarded his new test subject with all sorts of inquiries, earning a confused groan from the grubbin boy.
"Can... Can I just g-go home, please, mister S-Solosis..? I'm s-s-scared, I-I want t-t-to see Chip, and-- and, and and..." Tears formed in Cooper's eyes. The Solosis merely sighed, floating beside Cooper now, still holding his notepad with telekinesis. <...Look, child, I get it. This is a spooky haunted house full of spooky pokemon.> The pokemon rolled it's eyes. <...I cannot pass the chance to learn of a creature like yourself, though. You seem human, but... You aren't like any one I've seen, so...>
<What are you?>
Cooper paused. "I--I'm n-not a human, S-Solosis." Cooper fought back a few more tears. "B-B-But I--I'm not a po-pokemon either... I'm... I'm a..." Cooper tried to answer the psychic type's question. People usually called Cooper a Morph, but... "What... What am I?" Cooper croaked, unable to keep his tears back. <...You really don't know?> The Pokemon asked, genuinely confused. "I-I don't know, okay! All I know is that those stupid Crux people probably made me into this abomination, and now they're probably chasing me and gonna kill me and everyone things I'm a freak of nature so I always have to hide and run and hide and run, but I don't wanna and---!"
<I... see now.> The pokemon paused, setting down his notepad, which now sported some writing on it. <...You are an... anomaly, I suppose, but... You're an interesting one at that, still. I can't see why anyone would pass up the chance to get to know more about someone like yourself.> The pokemon eyed Cooper. <...I believe you said you're being chased by the people who seem to have made you into this... hybrid?> Cooper wiped away some tears, still sniveling like a baby. "Y--yeah, it's scary and it sucks so much..."
<The fact that some of those humans would put this on another of their own kind...> The solosis hissed, eyes fiercely narrowed at nothing in particular. Humans were always an odd bunch the cell pokemon was never fond of, but this was another level of evil. The orb glanced down at the boy, pondering for a moment... If he went with this little kid, then perhaps he could learn more about him, yes... But maybe those pesky humans could learn a lesson as well. What to do?
CYTO THE SOLOSIS
MALE | MAGIC GUARD ABILITY | PSYWAVE/REFLECT/CONFUSE RAY
A cynical, yet equally curious psychic type. Cyto takes his research about other pokemon, humans, and now Morphs very seriously, and with great pride. Sometimes he can be seen whipping up odd concoctions of liquid with berries and other food that he claims are potions, and other times the pokemon is completely immersed in a book to the point where Cooper would have to pull him away to get his attention. He's distrustful and has a growing hatred to humans, though Cooper is a slight exception that Cyto labeled as a fellow victim of humanity. This Pokemon will do anything to learn more about the world around him, to the point of disrespecting others or his surroundings, and crossing many boundaries- he doesn't care much for other people to begin with, but even this Pokemon draws a line in the sand. He's against anything inhumane or explicitly hurtful, like Cooper's apparent conversion to a Morph and the effects he learned that it had on his life. Cyto seems to just look for, or merely only note more reason to detest the world, rather than to respect and cherish it- now it's up to his trainer now to show him the good in the realm that this Solosis so vigorously researches. |
