Peri was exhausted. He only had himself to blame for the jet lag, after all his agent did recommend that he turn down the fashion show he did last night or was it this morning? This traveling had him all turned around."You'll burn yourself out. You won't have enough energy to do the show in Hoenn and host the opening of your new boutique in Vega City." warned Peri's agent when they were planning his schedule. However chose to ignore his agent's infinite wisdom and decided to walk the runway anyway, how was Peri suppose to stay relevant if he wasn't on magazine covers? Nimbus fluttered next to Peri as semi-strutted, semi-trudged, down one of Vega City's main streets. Usually Peri would be making a big spectacle, glowing with awe over the city's bustling life, but normally Peri would have had more than 2 hours of crappy sleep on a turbulence filled airplane ride. Not to mention Peri had a million things going through his mind since it would be the first official store Peri owned in Stellara that carried some of his products. Even though Peri was heavily integrated into the fashion scene in Stellara he had been away for a couple of months and he worried that the industry might of changed. Peri knew deep down that this was a ridiculous notion, and that the fashion industry wasn't going to change anytime soon but nonetheless he still felt uneasy. "Do I have to be the optimistic one now?" Nimbus said haughtily poking at Peri's nervousness. "Of course not! I know that it's going to be fine Nimbus, I'm just a little tired. No biggie." Peri said enthusiastically. Though he and Nimbus both knew that Peri was trying to convince himself more than Nimbus that everything would be fine. Right as Peri was finishing up what he was saying he was walking up to the boutique's facade. It was a charming little store that sold high end hats that Peri had come up with in conjunction with another designer after a photoshoot he had in the Kalos Region. It had large glass windows that showed mannequins wearing hats that looked like various pokemon. One of the window panes had the boutique's name painted in a fancy fashion, 'Hats Incredible! Balancing a coffee in one hand and his notebook in the other Peri let himself in. He was greeted by a few employees that he had interviewed previously before they went to work setting the store up properly. Peri had just finished double checking the displays when he heard the soft ring of the door's bell signaling a customer."Wow our first customer!" Nimbus couldn't contain himself, "Go greet them you doofus!"Peri straightened out his shirt then briskly walked over to the entrance of the small store and put on a large smile and said, "Welcome to 'Hats Incredible! If you need help finding anything just let one of the staff or myself know and we will be happy to assist you. Or if you would just like to look around that's also ok, however just wanted to let you know that we do have a buy one get one half off sale today due to it being our Grand Opening."NAME — Nimbus LEVEL — Level 5. SPECIES — Swablu TYPE — Flying and Normal EGG GROUP — Flying and Dragon ABILITY — Natural Cure HELD ITEM — N/A GENDER — Male HEIGHT — 1'04" WEIGHT — 2.6 lbs MOVE LIST — Steel Wing, Sing, Peck, Astonish, Growl, … PERSONALITY — Nimbus is what some trainers would consider high maintenance however Peri loves the extra personality. Nimbus hates getting dirty and loves to show off. He doesn’t like to stay in his pokeball instead he rather perch on Peri’s head or flutter next to him. Unlike Peri, Nimbus can be a bit of a snob when it comes to meeting new people and pokemon, he only likes to socialize with those he knows and trusts. However, he does genuinely care those he is close to even though he doesn’t always show it. Peri and Nimbus can be yin and yang, respectively, where Peri is optimistic Nimbus is pessimistic. Though he can have a negative attitude at times he loves Peri and will protect him till the ends of the earth.

the basis of optimism Breathe in. Hold. Breathe out.
Every bone in his body begged him to turn around and go back to the forest, to the ruins, to a god damned alleyway at least, and yet Damian found himself walking down one of the busiest streets in Vega City.
He knew Crux operated here. Of all the times he'd overheard his family's plans, Vega City came up more often than not. The place was an irresistible gold mine for the twisted minds of the gang, and with the constant tourism here, they had little trouble warping a promising trainer or two. They always had eyes on the streets for that kind of thing.
So why the fuck was he still walking?
His last run in with Crux had happened in the darkness of a forest on the southern end of Stellara. In the middle of the night, mist thick from the heavy rain, he knew they had found him when he caught the distinct sound of a twig snapping overhead. He'd thought himself surrounded, but if that had been the case, he wouldn't still be walking. Let alone walking around Vega City in the middle of the day.
But pragmatism jabbed at him. He was low on supplies, and frankly Crux might actually be deterred from attacking him in a public place. As long as he didn't get lured into any lonely situations, this could work. Besides, he was dying for a proper hot meal.
Ahead, he spotted what appeared to be a hat shop. Considering he typically wore this trashy old hooded parka, he never saw the need for a hat. But perhaps it was exactly what the son of a Crux enforcer needed; a disguise of sorts. Something to make him an entirely different person.
Feeling his anxiety dissipate slightly now that he could more easily gauge potential threats, he stepped through the door.
And immediately regretted the decision.
A petite and disgustingly friendly young man greeted him inside. Damian felt a grimace creeping up his face before remembering this was typical behavior for a store. And it was their grand opening. The kid obviously just wanted to make a good impression, and Damian was obviously not his target market.
Of course, that was the point.
He tried to speak, but found the words stuck in his throat. He coughed into his hand, then tried again. It came out quietly.
"I'm just looking for.. something new."
That wasn't much to go off of, but frankly he wasn't sure what else to say. And he'd already stopped speaking. It would be weird to continue now, wouldn't it? Frustration began to brim in his chest as he realized it had been too long since he interacted with a decent human being. This trip into Vega may have to be the first of a series.

"Well this guy is a loser," chirped Nimbus nonchalantly. "Behave," Peri managed to squeeze out with a terrifyingly large smile on his face. He hoped that the customer didn't notice Nimbus' comment. However Nimbus wasn't completely off, the guy was dressed like a bum. I mean it looked like he just stepped out of the woods, and his communication skills? Hilarious. But Peri wasn't going to show the costumer any disdain. "Well, actually it's all new! This is from my personal collection, PokeHat by Peri, and I designed practically all the hats in this store or at least had some input in how they were constructed." Peri stated proudly with a hint of arrogance. Peri then started to lead the customer by the store and continue his narrative. But before he got deep in conversation he waved to one of his employees to clean the mud the guy had tracked in. "It might be hard for someone to find a regular plain old hat in my store because you see my hat line is modeled after pokemon. For example this Magikarp Beanie, or if you're feeling a little wilder there's also this Gyarados Beanie. We have headwear for every occasion here's a Lotad Sombrero, and an Aggron Helmet. We have many ball caps in different pokemon styles. Most people get hats that match their pokemon or if they are going to an exhibition match and want to cheer on a certain pokemon. Or at least that's the response we got in Kalos. We even have some small accessories for pokemon. Currently i'm working on a matching scarf line, I expect it to be a big hit. But anyways, many selections is there anything in particular you would like? Perhaps a certain style of hat or certain pokemon?" Peri was trying to get something to go off of he had no idea what this guy wanted.

the basis of optimism Damian shot the fluffy Pokemon a pointed look, but otherwise felt no desire to escalate the situation. Frankly, he was somewhat glad to hear he had that impression on strangers.
But as Peri started leading him around the store, he felt more and more out of place. This was a bad idea. He fought the urge to squirm and look at the ground. Instead, he tried to focus on giving Peri the appropriate amount of respect.
The hats on display here were.. something. They came in every color and shape imaginable, and even some that Damian thought would never fit on a person's head. Perhaps he would get something especially garish.
He perked slightly at the mention of scarves. Anything to hide his face.
"I want a matching hat and scarf," he said quickly, looking at the young entrepreneur straight on. But he faltered. Stuttered. Something had just occurred to him. An important fact. His gaze fell to the floor.
"I don't have much money."
With that confession, he felt himself backing toward the door. This young man - Peri - had his life together. He owned his own business, and seemed to have no trouble running it. Someone like that had no business affiliating with someone like Damian.
As he turned to leave, he noticed another employee cleaning up after him. Shame prickled in his chest.
"I'm sorry," he mumbled, at a loss.

MAYBE IT'D BE FASTER IF THE ONE WHO DISAPPEARED WAS ME. To be frank, Vega City still had some memories that he'd rather not revisit, but his mom ordered him to check on his brother and he felt that he was starting to feel his bones creak from staying in the building all day anyway (he had probably been stuck for almost a week). So...he was here. Again. Without Swoobat this time because she had caught a slight fever, so this time he had an entourage of youngsters and his trusty Ponyta in case he needed a quick getaway or something. At the moment though, only Alolan Vulpix and Eevee were out of their balls because they were the most prissy, stubborn ones that felt they had to be physically with their trainer at all times. He sure hoped that Mother was right about the schedule, otherwise he would've been here for nothing. He had Eevee on his shoulder and Alolan Vulpix in his arms as he made his way to one of the stores he knew Peri had been wanting to open for a while. It took him a bit of meandering, but he eventually found it, only to find that there was already someone stumbling in the doorway -- someone that clearly did not know what he was doing. What a poor, pitiful person this was. Arthur supposed it was his responsibility or something to help out. So, as much as he rather not interact with his brothers, he walked in and let his two Pokemon go ahead and approach Peri, greeting him and Nimbus with warm smiles. "Is there a problem?" Arthur asked the shaggy young man. They looked around the same age, but it was clear that this guy had gone through a lot worse. "Clearly it seems you have lost your way, but since you look like you're in dire need of a change of clothes, I can spare some pocket change for you. Would that be all right, Pierre? I think this man just wants something to cover his face." for the last two parts he turned back to his youngest brother; his expression one of mild annoyance more than anything else. "Oh! Oh...oh... ok" Peri responded when the young man finally told him what he wanted. He was excited at first but then he mentioned he didn't have any money. Peri was initially at a lost of words as the man was slowly backing out the door. Why would he be shopping if he didn't have money, Peri wondered. Peri was trying to make the young man comfortable but was severely failing at it. "What is going on here!? Why would you be walking into a Hat Shop if you didn't have money?" Nimbus thundered, "And you Perrie! You're scaring this young man by being overbearing. Chill!""Don't mind him," Peri said to the young man as he was almost at the door. Peri really hoped this guy didn't understand Nimbus. "Have a good da- Oh it's YOU!" Peri started before his older brother Arthur walked in. Peri put on a big smile and gave Alolan Vulpix and Eevee quick pats on the back, then he shot Nimbus a pointed look and the three Pokemon started playing hid and seek by a couple of bins of hats. "That's alright Arthur," Peri said less enthusiastic then before when it was just him and the customer. "But you're not getting a family discount" Peri said pointedly trying to annoy Arthur. Peri was avoiding eye contact and aimlessly fixing a hat stand that was already perfect. When he thought the customer was out of earshot Peri shot Arthur a hushed question. "What are you even doing here? I'm older now, I don't need a babysitter!"

the basis of optimism Peri's Swablu seemed to be making some kind of fuss from his perch on the shop owner's shoulder. For some reason, Damian got the distinct impression that the Pokemon disliked him. His breeder instinct pushed him to make amends, but he looked up from the floor to offer another annoyed stare instead. Guilt prickled in his chest.
The door chimed. He turned and felt his stomach knot. Now he really didn't want to be here.
The man walking in carried himself with an air that made Damian feel absolutely tiny. Somewhere, a small part of him admired the confidence and longed for such self-security. But it was a part that he had become well-practiced in locking away. His expression soured.
The newcomer's tone and words made Damian want to sink into the floor, but he narrowed his eyes and squared his jaw instead. Charity. The last thing he needed was to owe a debt to someone. Pragmatism and pride pulled at him from opposite sides.
The interaction between Peri and the new guy distracted him from his dilemma. His name was Arthur, and apparently the two were related. Damian felt the urge to leave surge up again, but he ignored it. He'd definitely made an impression on these two, and he really didn't need more enemies.
So back to the matter at hand: to accept the haughty man's offer, or to decline. He studied Arthur carefully, hoping to get some clue as to what the man would prefer to hear. Ultimately, Damian knew that despite whatever effort he might put forth, this was going to be a guess. He watched the two interact - not caring what was said - and came to his decision.
He approached Arthur, hands in his pockets and shoulders hunched. He allowed his discomfort to show, his eyes struggling to maintain contact. "Thank you," he muttered. Then, thinking to bloat the man's ego a bit, he added: "sir."

MAYBE IT'D BE FASTER IF THE ONE WHO DISAPPEARED WAS ME. Eevee and Vulpix were basically having some fun digging into all sorts of hats, commenting on how some looked really strange and others quite cute. They intentionally made sure that the hats were on top of their heads whenever they resurfaced, and they were nice to lie on too since they were made of soft material. "(How's it going, Nimbus? Looks like your Master is going through some trouble.)" Eevee commented. Vulpix was usually very haughty with all Pokemon, but he was usually more relaxed with those like Nimbus and Eevee who came from the same circles as he. "(Honestly he just looks like trouble, but he'd be even more foolish than I thought if he tried something here. Besides, Master brought us along in case something happens.)" the ice fox chimed in. With Arthur's case, he had to deal with both his brother and the customer -- and well, he had it coming, he did walk in here after all. He could've chosen not to, but his mother wouldn't have allowed it. So... "I didn't ask for a discount, thanks." he responded firstly before turning his attention back to the stranger. He could tell that wheels were turning in his head, but he wasn't sure what. It was times like this when he wished his psychic powers could actually venture into mind reading, but fate decided not bestow him such an ability, so he had to settle with what he had. Oh well. Peri beat the other man when it came to speaking, however. Arthur turned his head slightly and whispered back to his brother, "Mother's orders."He then raised a brow at the stranger's reply. Surprisingly...subdued. A calculated, agreeable choice. He wasn't sure why but he had assumed something more violent. Was it perhaps because of his rugged appearance? Well, there was little use dwelling on it if he didn't respond. "It is no trouble." he said evenly, "If you want something inconspicuous though, I suppose this is the wrong shop to be looking at...unless you believe in reverse psychology?" he shrugged before glancing around the shop and noticing that there was one hat that looked plainer than the others. "The Murkrow hat could be suitable, perhaps." he offered while gesturing to one of the hats hanging on the rack. Nimbus was rolling around in the hat bins with the other pokemon when they were asking how things were going. "(It's good, we're just tired. It's a busy life traveling all over the place. Modeling definitely takes more energy than people think.)" Even though Nimbus was more comfortable with Eevee and Vulpix than most other pokemon he was still a little snooty. "(And thanks guys, you know I'm not much into battling. Anyways what's going on with you guys?)" Nimbus continued a little more humbled. Peri sighed and brushed off the comment about his mother. He loved his mother and was happy she was concerned however he didn't want to be constantly doted on either. Peri watched as the young man approached the two of them. It seemed as his presence had shrunken since Arthur entered the store. Is he scared of Arthur or something? Peri thought to himself. He never has been scared of Arthur or even intimidated, Arthur was his brother. Peri thought back to when they were kids and he teased Arthur all the time. I was a little harsh then. But I was just a follower right? No matter. Times have changed and the past was the past. Talking or even thinking about it would open up old wounds. And there were plenty on everyone's part. "Haha, Sir? He's not the Queen. Though I suppose or Great Aunt was so that must make us some form of royalty right? But no, haha he's just the Eridani Gym leader. We're 2/3s of the famous Wright brothers. You know from the Wright Telecommunications Company?" Peri explained in a light hearted mood. He actually wondered if he was too boastful, father always said that sometimes you need to be careful who you say things to. But Arthur was here he'd have to protect Peri if anything happened right? Either that or get disowned. Peri was thinking to himself when he caught what Arthur was saying about this might not be the shop he wants or something along those lines. Peri shot Arthur a piercing look. His eyes said it all. How dare you come into MY store and tell MY customer that this place isn't right for them! It's true that this guy was no upscale spectacular guy, but this store was open to everyone who loves pokemon. Not everyone in this family is a snobby elitist. Arthur then suggested a Murkrow hat. "Yes that one is slightly inconspicuous, however you said you wanted a matching scarf correct? Well the scarf might not be what you're looking for." Peri said happily trying to sell the young man on the hat. However Peri was also pointing at a black plume boa that was suppose to match the hat. "We do have other selections though. The Darkrai one isn't terribly flashy and neither is the Salandit. However I would choose the Umbreon because of the built in LED lights. But that's just me."

the basis of optimism Truthfully, Damian had been somewhat distracted by the frolicking Pokemon. They seemed to share a bond already, and his heart swelled slightly at the sight of them enjoying themselves. They all seemed extremely well cared for, and that fact was beginning to soften the man's impression of these two.
And then he heard Peri say something about Wright Telecommunications.
That was a name he couldn't possibly mistake. That company provided his family - and much of Crux - with their burner phones, and they seemed to be perfectly aware of that fact. It was unlikely that either of these brothers had ever met Damian's father or sibling, but the connection was there. All sense of ease lost, Damian felt a renewed sense of urgency to get out of the shop. Out of the city. Out of these men's memories.
But he had to do it carefully.
Arthur and Peri seemed to be somewhat at odds with one another. Arthur's suggestion for the Murkrow hat was on the nose actually, but the younger brother seemed quick to shoot it down. The boy was right, of course; that scarf was just.. Damian felt the hairs on his neck rise a bit.
He decided in this instance it would be best not to take a side. Whatever problems the brothers may have, he didn't want to do anything to get involved and be memorable. His gaze slowly traveled along the hats that Peri pointed out, though he paid more attention to the ones that went unmentioned.
He spotted another dark hat that flared out at the sides and had a curly-cue dollop on top - it was Pumpkaboo. Rather than having a scarf to match, it seemed to have an orange second layer that came down like Gourgeist's long arms on either side. It seemed perfect; he could avoid possibly escalating the tension between the brothers while respecting Arthur's charity by getting a single piece instead of two.
"How about that one?" he asked softly, pointing at the Pumpkaboo hat. He looked sideways at Arthur to see if the man would catch on to his attempt at humility.
