Money for Nothing
Much as Miyoko liked to think she was used to traveling by foot after years spent being a professional trainer... it didn't change the fact that she didn't necessarily like it.
Wearing a heavily worn pair of sneakers and dressed in her usual jeans and t shirt the only thing that visibly separated Miyoko from the average hiker as she entered Pavo's town limits were the Pokeballs on her belt and the heavy duty backpack the woman was carrying, although even that was debatable. More than anything, though, it was her appearance. Despite her long hair being coiled over her shoulders it was likely going to be immediately apparent to anyone who looked closely enough that Miyoko hadn't had the opportunity to shower or bathe in a few days, much less rest well.
The trek over the Vaisera Mountains wasn't something one did as a simple day trip - it was a harsh and rugged place, and if that weren't enough the Pokemon there were incredibly strong for those encountered in the wild. Rest alone had been something of a luxury considering that one mistake while out there alone could be a costly one. Well, not entirely alone. She had her Pokemon, but they couldn't be counted on to directly fight monsters like those and Miyoko seriously doubted that Rocky had the intelligence needed to work a phone much less the know how to communicate with whomever he did manage to contact.
But for the time being it was over. She'd managed to reach Pavo town and there were three thins at the top of Miyoko's Need It Now list.
Warm food.
Several hours of uninterrupted sleep.
Longest, hottest fucking shower she could find.
Once those three things had been accounted for Miyoko could start thinking about the next leg of her trip back to Eridani, but that could wait for tomorrow as could figuring out how to manage it. Right now her will was rather weak in that regard and if offered the opportunity Miyoko didn't doubt for an instant that she'd elect to pay for a rather expensive train or bus ticket she couldn't easily afford. For now, the closest Pokemon Center she could find was the woman's immediate goal.

Money for Nothing
As she continued deeper into the collection of buildings and streets that lay at the base of the Vaisara Mountains Miyoko couldn't help but find her mind wandering - it was something that it simply tended to do when fatigue began to creep over her, and idle thoughts and memories often blended together as they did then. When was the last time she'd actually been to Pavo Town? Few trainers foreign to Stellara could claim to have traveled to as many places within the region as Miyoko had over the last two years, but even then she never really seemed to stay in place for long. Return visits were often decided entirely on job opportunities and necessity. More often than not that meant places like Cygni and Vega had seen a number of return visits since there was always work to be found in the bigger cities.
Pavo was a bit different, though. It wasn't rural - only Rana seemed to hold that unique distinction - but it wasn't big, either. Not even remotely close. The only two other settlements in the region like it seemed to be Hamal and Shaula, but even those held unique attractions or culture that had allowed them to grow beyond mere suburbs. Pavo didn't have anything like that, though, not even possessing its own Gym. Not necessarily a bad thing for those who liked the mundane and the quiet but it had all but guaranteed that Miyoko wouldn't return to it since her initial passage through the Vaisara Mountains two years ago when she'd first arrived in Stellara.
Yet, in all that time, the place didn't seem to have changed one bit. On the one hand that came off as slightly depressing, but on the other it held a rather odd degree of nostalgia that Miyoko wasn't quite sure how to interpret.
Not that she was likely to get the chance to, either, as a new development in reality immediately derailed that train of thought.
To be completely honest Miyoko wasn't entirely sure what had happened at first - all she knew was that her walking pace had been disrupted. Yet there didn't seem to be any noticeable obstruction? Nothing seemed all that different concerning the streets and the occasional food vendor or shop display. It wasn't until someone directly spoke to her that Miyoko turned her head towards the source of the voice and thought to look down towards it.
She'd always known that she was tall and it had been something Miyoko found a certain degree of pride in - she wasn't just able but fit, and that was an uncommon thing in the current day and age. She was used to having the occasional need to tilt her head down slightly to meet someone's eyes sometimes. But this kid was short, and that was not a place that Miyoko was at all used to looking. Nor was Miyoko used to the idea of strangers offering her things she hadn't in some way earned - random acts of kindness were not the norm in this day and age, and had she been ten years younger literally every alarm bell would have been screaming in her head.
STRANGER DANGER was not something you forgot easily when alone in Ilex Forest at night as a small child. Speaking of...
".... uh huh." Miyoko muttered, resisting the urge to squint and tilt her head as she peered down at the tiny pink thing currently speaking words. How old was this kid? Miyoko certainly wasn't a stranger to the idea of children starting out as trainers but they seemed to be getting older and older in the recent times - it wasn't unheard of for young adults to set out as she had, although Miyoko at least had the benefit of prior experience when she'd been in Johto and Sevii. This kid couldn't have been older than eleven or ten, though, unless they were exceedingly short to begin with. It might've just been her own life experience speaking on that point, but...
"... right. And your parents are... where, exactly?" Miyoko continued, eyes drifting over to the nearby collection of Pokemon as a Petilil spoke up and briefly snagged the older woman's attention. Okay, so definitely a trainer. Local one, though? While little mannerisms there were in the kid's speech had Miyoko immediately assuming she was local or at least from somewhere in Stellara, but the general weirdness of being stopped and spoken to by someone she'd never met before had Miyoko on edge - old habits died hard, and she'd had her fair scrapes with conmen.
Contrary to popular opinion and stereotypes not all of them were male nor middle aged.
