Get off of my back You know it's all just a game that I'm playing - x - X - x - X - x -
A man with fiery crimson hair lay sprawled on his side in the vast flatlands. At first glance he appeared to be sleeping but as a few moments passed his ear twitched and he opened his golden eyes to watch a Noibat flutter back to his side. The Pokemon was noticeably larger than her average brethren but not obviously so, her true size usually left unnoticed by most unless a normal Noibat was nearby for comparison. Not that it bothered her really. She knew she was bigger and better and that was good enough for her.
"Anything?" Jett watched her blankly and propped himself up on an elbow. He had been laying here for probably an hour while she flew about and not only was he bored but the sun's heat was starting to make him irritable. As if sensing this Pija chittered out a nervous laugh and fluttered about, making motions with her wings as if playing a game of charades.
"Noi! Noiba! (YES! Some!)" Jett watched her little fluttering for a bit before running a hand through his hair and sitting up with a growl. Although he did like Pija's company the Noibat had a way of annoying him with all her excessive movements. It was a waste of energy and made him tired just watching.
Jett glanced to the sky and made a quick judgement of the time as he figured out what to do next. Pija had seen Pokemon out here that she thought were worth it to find, but knowing her they could still be a long way off. The Noibat's grasp of distance was basically non-existent. He had lost a stupid amount of energy baking in the sun waiting for her so food was his first priority, then he would hunt those Pokemon down before they even knew what hit them. The thought brought a fanged smile to Jett's face as he took out a sandwich and a fruit from his bag. His journey had started off rough but now he had the momentum on his side.
Pija perked up at the sight of the fruit and hopped over to Jett. She gave the fruit a sniff and looked up at Jett with big eyes until he sighed and offered it to her. It had been for her in the first place but he wasn't a big fan of the begging thing. It was something he was going to have to train out of her one way or another, and fairly soon.
As Jett finished his sandwich and started to pack up Pija began fretting and tried eating faster to catch up, her chittering making Jett bite down quite a few smart-ass words as he finished gathering his things. When he moved to head out he felt a sudden tug on his tail and froze, the hairs on the back of his neck standing on end as he snapped his head around with a growl and glared at the Noibat currently clinging to his tail. Pija squeaked in alarm just as Jett's tail lashed to the side and knocked her onto her back with a thump, her eyes wide until he turned back and started heading out again, this time lifting his tail closer to him protectively. Lesson learned. Pija chittered to herself with a hint of sarcasm before finishing her fruit and taking off after her trainer. Time for the hunt to begin.

The Flatlands The feeling of soil under her hoofs as she galloped through the flat lands, wind blowing against her fiery mane as she moved faster than a speeding car. This was what she lived for. Ponyta neighed spiritedly, seemingly unimpeded by the weight she carried, and those riding on top of her responded by holding more tightly. This was the first time Mei-Long was riding an equine pokemon; it had never been one of her interests in her youth, and the woman had little time for such pleasures once she had become an adult. She could scarcely believe Ponyta had not only allowed her to ride her, but actually encouraged it. It must have been the fiery pokemon's way of thanking the woman for her and her husband's help. There was no saddle or reigns; such things would have required preparation, and needless to say, the martial artist had not been expecting this when she and the Ponyta had for the flat lands. Sitting behind Mei-Long, Meditite had her arms secured around the woman's waist, intent on not falling off and suffering a concussion. Much more calm and appreciative of everything that was happening, Shroomish sat at their master's lap with a look of awe, feeling the winds on his features as they speed over the land. Surely nothing could taint this moment. Surely. Jett's ear twitched as the distinctive sound of hooves gave him pause. It took him only a moment to single out the direction of the sound and notice the rider heading in their direction. Immediately his instincts demanded he crouch but he quickly caught himself from doing so, it would be useless in such open lands with no cover. Another option would be to go back into the shallow dip of land he had been laying in previously but that too he disregarded. Although it seemed the rider was yet unaware of him, he was positive he would be seen before he backtracked to the hidden spot, and his pride did not allow giving the rider reason to think he was attempting to hide because of weakness. He instead remained still and studied the rider. She had at least three Pokemon, which meant the possibility of stealing one of them was zilch. He was prideful but not stupid. However the woman could still be useful to give Pija needed exercise in a battle. No doubt the Noibat would loose, but it would be a lesson well learned for it.
As she neared he debated trying to blast her off the Ponyta, but he decided that as gratifying as it might be it wasnt an effective method to make her stop. After all it would be impossible to battle an unconscious trainer, and since he had already decided stealing from her wasnt worth it he needed her conscious. He spit a flame in annoyance and settled on simply lifting his hand in greeting as she neared, a motion he had seen often used by people trying to flag someone down. He may suck at dealing with humans but he wasn't blind to social gestures and habits, he simply rarely used them. He also focused on forcing himself to visibly relax but trust was a thing entirely non-existant to him unless it was in Crux. He wouldn't trust the woman to not run him over any more than he would trust her to sprout wings and fly.
"Yo chickie, think you got time for a battle?" As she came within hearing range he spoke up with a fanged smirk. He would try it the normal way.... and if she refused or didn't stop then he would blast her off the stupid thing. Pija chittered excitedly and swooped circles above his head, gleeful at the prospect of her first trainer battle.

The Flatlands Mei-Long and her pokemon noticed the young man quite quickly. In a vast plain with little to no cover or distractions, it would have been hard not to notice the bright red hair or fluffy tail that clashed so much with the greenery around them. Unfortunately for the young man, he was dealing with a lady far more antisocial and uncaring for social graces than himself. She was a lady known to kick her way out of social interaction if forced to, even. Almost smirking at the sudden obstacle in her path, the Ponyta took 3 more paces forward, coming well over 10 meters from the young man, practically spelling out her intention to keep moving forward. What, did you think we were talking about Mei-Long? Speaking of whom, the woman had noticed the young man as well, and her request for the Ponyta to stop had gone... unheeded, to say the least. Mind you, the woman was of half the mind to continue on her path the moment he referred to her as 'chickie'. Though hopefully not by bulldozing him over.
"Ponyta-!" Exclaimed the woman sharply as the distance became to little- Two resounding stomps followed, and Meditite's panicked screeching followed soon after as the horse suddenly leapt high into the air. Very high.
' It can clear Ayers Rock in one leap.' A bit of trivia information she had obtained from her husband's PokeDex on Ponyta. At the time, she had dismissed it as nothing but drivel and exaggeration, but as they soared across the air, easily clearing the 10 meters between them and the young man and continuing forward, their arc peaking at over 20 feet in the air, she could see how some may have thought it could. As the apex of the arc was reached and they began descending, Mei-Long felt as if she were in a rollercoaster, butterflies dancing inside her stomach as soared for 10 more meters before touching soil. Ponyta landed solidly into the ground, rattling it's current passengers before coming to a grinding halt, stomping the soil with her diamond hard hooves in a self-congratulatory manner. Hell yeah, she was a damn badass. Turning halfway, she gave the redheaded man and his pokemon a smirk, before turning back in the direction she had been running to. She wasn't about to stop her galloping for anyone. Mei-Long, meanwhile, caught the breath she had forgotten to take, not having quite expected her equine friend to pull quite the stunt. She supposed it was better than running the man over, if nothing else. She still had little interest in talking to someone with such manners regardless. Not to mention... "I don't battle." She said as she raised her voice for the young man. "And that's ma'am for you." She finished sternly, before turning to face the direction they had been running to herself. Meditite blew a raspberry at the rude youth as emphasis. Jett's muscles tensed further as the Ponyta didn't slow, though he wasn't so worried about getting hit. Not only were morphs much faster than humans to begin with but he was also an Arcanine morph, a Pokemon who was no slouch when it came to speed despite their size. As he prepared to jump out of the way it suddenly leaped clear over him, causing Pija to shriek in surprise and dive down out of the Pokemon's way.
So the equine was nothing but a show pony. Shame. For a moment he considered dipping his head and just walking away. He had no interest in someone who thought Pokemon were just pets or playmates. That all changed, however, when the girl added a few condescending words right as he was about to turn away.
Alright, to hell with social norm. The fur along the top of Jett's tail bristled at her tone. Who did the broad think she was to scold him? His golden gaze narrowed as he looked at her, now smoldering with anger. He had tried to play nice. Though now playing nice was the furthest thing from his mind. As the woman's Meditite stuck it's tongue out Jett's pupils narrowed to slits and the man crouched, eyeing the woman's back as he tensed preparing to attack.
However, with a shriek of anger Pija beat him to it. The large Noibat parted her jaws and let out a supersonic attack at the Ponyta and girl from behind. Her own anger matching Jett's but for different reasons. She didn't care if her trainer could have thought to word things better, she hated anyone who insulted him or talked down to him. She knew full well she was outnumbered should she start a fight but frankly she didn't care. She would either fight tooth and claw or laugh as they ran off with their tails between their legs. What kind of Pokemon didn't battle?!

The Flatlands Mei-Long reached around to place her hand on the Meditite's head, staring her down sternly as well. She didn't approve of her student's less than dignified way of acting. Even if the young man was quite rude, there was little to be gained by responding to rudeness with rudeness. As far as Mei-Long was concerned, their interactions with the red-head were done. Of course, this line of thought only lasted until her eyes actually fell on the rude young man. "..." The woman pinched the bridge of her nose, looking more resigned than threatened by the morph's not so sudden violent disposition. She had so many better things to do today than to attend to some brat's bruised ego. Before he even took action however, his own pokemon lost its temper first and screeched at them from... quite the distance. Mei-Long was quite sure it was supposed to do something, but since Ponyta didn't trust a human as far as she could kick it, she would only be able to guess. The sound of her hooves stomping unto the soil resounded across the plains as the equine pokemon leapt away from the screeching, putting even more distance between them and the attacking party. How were people and pokemon like these not in jail again? Assault was definitely a crime that included jail time. Mei-Long just stared at the young man with mild irritation. "Well?" She intoned harshly. "Are we done here yet? Can we leave now?" She asked. She wasn't usually one for sarcasm, but she had little patience for having her time wasted, and that wasn't even taking into account how much this all ruined her bonding with Ponyta and just her day in general. Get off of my back You know it's all just a game that I'm playing - x - X - x - X - x - Jett blinked and straightened a little bit, not quite standing straight but no longer crouched either. His body language still alert but also somewhat tentative. The surprise from Pija attacking had distracted him from his anger momentarily. He hadn’t known the Noibat long but until now she had never become angry like that. Now that wasn't to say his anger was gone, cold rage still simmered in his eyes, but for now the Noibat's sudden action had prevented him from loosing control of it.
His gaze shifted to Pija as she hovered beside him looking both furious and anxious at the same time. She was making a pitched chittering sound now that reminded him of a whistling kettle about to boil over. Somewhere in the back of his mind he knew this was most likely one of those moments where a trainer should correct their Pokemon's behavior, but despite his obvious flaws he had never been one for hypocrisy. Not only was he unwilling to scold his Pokemon in front of a snobby chick but he also wasn't going to reprimand Pija for doing something he had been about to do himself.
Instead he turned his attention back to the woman as she spoke again, his gaze narrowing as he gave a half-hearted attempt to rein in his anger. This woman had a talent of grating on his nerves every time she spoke. He may not be popular himself, but he bet this chick definitely did not get invited to anything social related.
"You always a condescending princess or what?" Despite being pissed off he spoke clearly and evenly, his tone neither to loud or to quiet. As far as he knew he hadn't done anything to explain her first reaction, hell he had actually tried to be civil for once in his life, not that it did him any good as usual. Part of him wondered if she was one of those people who simply thought lowly of Morphs. For a brief moment he angled his tail behind his body self-consciously before mentally kicking himself and letting it rest naturally.
If she dared say it was for his traits then he would blast her and be done with it. As it was he didn't even know why he was bothering to get an explanation in the first place. Why should he even care?

The Flatlands "Excuse me." Replied the woman flatly at the youth. What kind of backwards logic was this boy running on? He started off like a rude ass to his elders, had his pokemon attack them, refused to acknowledge or apologize to this, and now had the gall to put the blame on her?
"'Condescending'. Is that what you think of people who correct your terrible behavior, young man?" She had to snort. It was very familiar behavior to her. "I must admit, you remind me of my son." She said. "My 13 year old, immature son." She emphasized flatly. Ponyta snorted beneath her, seemingly snickering at the young man's expense. "For future reference, you don't refer to married women as 'chickies'. It is a very terrible first impression." And unlikely to get anyone to stop and speak to them. For anything other than a tongue lashing that is. Her gaze shifted from the youth to the small Noibat, staring the small dragon down. "Don't test my patience." She said to the bat sharply, before nodding at her student. Meditite blinked at her, before nodding back, vaulting over and Ponyta suddenly to land across from them. "I am not a pokemon trainer. But clearly, you don't care about that-" She said with clear irritation in her voice, "So go ahead. Battle to your heart's content. Meditite will relish the exercise." For her part, the small fighting type stretched her legs, then her arms, before bowing sharply at her two opponents and sinking into a stance. Her face was completely blank as opposed to her earlier derision, eyes opened wide and sharp as she stared down the dragon bat. Team Meditite, Lv. 15, Pure Power, [Meditate, Endure, Ice Punch [Egg Move], Confusion, Detect, Feint] Ponyta, Lv. 9, Flash Fire, [Growl, Tackle, Tail whip, Ember] Shroomish, Lv. 4, Flash Fire, [Absorb, Tackle]

Get off of my back You know it's all just a game that I'm playing - x - X - x - X - x - Jett narrowed his eyes as the woman continued on in that annoying 'stick up the ass' sort of way. For the first time in his life he felt sorry for someone, after all her son was a boy cursed with a harpy mother. What could be worse than that? "Where I come from 'chickie' is a friendly expression. Though you seem to be to close-minded to consider the whole world doesn't follow your definition of whats proper or not. Frankly, I'm surprised your married and I pity the poor brat that has to deal with you." His anger had now settled into a cold burn rather than the initial burning inferno. Once he got to this point there was no convincing him otherwise of a person and no going back, he would forever hate them and wish their ruin. Harsh, but it was just how he was.
Honestly he didn't even care about the battle anymore. In the beginning it had been just for experience and fun, but neither of that was something he could see getting from this hag. However he could tell Pija wanted to fight even knowing she would lose, which meant for now he was stuck here. He lashed his tail and retreated a few steps from the Pokemon before sitting down and curling his tail into his lap. "Whatever. Pija if you still wish for it, just get it over with."
Pija let out a battle cry that was more like a growling shriek and eyed up her opponent. She knew she was out of her league but not impossibly so. If she could at least take a bite out of the mean woman's Pokemon then she would be proud of her self even if she lost. The Meditite was a fighting type so for now she would start off by keeping out of it's reach. She swooped to the left of the Pokemon and parted her jaws, a series of pitched sound waves escaping her throat at the Pokemon as she used supersonic once more but this time as close range as possible without entering the danger zone.

The Flatlands "Do you listen to yourself speak." Was he really going to call someone close minded while acting as if she was supposed to conform to his way of acting? Did he ever consider the way other people's own values and experiences may clash with his own, specially if he just came at them out in the open, a complete stranger? "You talk to me, a complete stranger minding her own business as if your ways and culture were universal, attack me on the back like a coward after offending my personal sensibilities, and have the gall to victimize yourself and immediately after trash talk as if you actually knew anything about me, in the very same sentence?" She said, looking him in the eye. "You are nothing but a hypocrite." What to do against an opponent stronger and more experienced, specialized in hand to hand combat? Keeping them at a distance wasn't exactly some ground breaking, new strategy, but an effective one nonetheless. Disabling their sense of balance and turning their own strength against them was nothing new either, and a staple of both flying and ghost type pokemon. Still, effective and dangerous and all too easy a way to get a win on a mightier opponent. But did she really think that using the same move immediately after she had already shown it to her (to attack them in the back no less, like a coward) would work? Even when the Noibat knew Meditite was stronger, she was still looking down on her, if she thought this was enough. Well, if she was looking for some experience, here was an intensive course on pissing off an stronger opponent before the fight started. The Meditite's eyes flashed as she shifted on her heel, facing the other pokemon just as its maw opened wide. The supersonic sound waves slammed into an invisible barrier, the Meditite maintaining the psychic energy of confusion around her like a bubble. Suddenly, she brought her palms together, causing the bubble to expand outwards like a shock wave, pushing away the enemy's attack around her and intent on slamming the psychic energy into the Noibat like a moving wall of bricks. Get off of my back You know it's all just a game that I'm playing - x - X - x - X - x - Jett swallowed back the growl threatening to rip out of his throat as she continued on. Victimize himself? Hah. He was no victim nor would he ever be stupid enough to view himself as such. She obviously was to thick-headed to see she was just as much in the wrong as he was. He may have reacted badly to her condescending tone and escalated things, but she also over-reacted and started the whole thing over a stupid term when he had been trying to be nice. Both were at fault, yet as usual that didn't matter. He may be an asshole but at least he knew he was an asshole. She treats me like a child over a stupid difference in term, and then has the nerve to say I'm victimizing myself, all the while playing off the victim herself. Jesus I am going to have an aneurysm. He gave his head a shake and pushed the thoughts from his mind, effectively ignoring the hag completely and simply watching the fight. Far as he was concerned she didn't exist and as such it would he a waste of breath to speak to her. He was done.
Pija swiveled her ears forward and heard the moment her sound bounced off something unseen, wheeling backward and away just as something rushed at her with the sound of swift moving air. Although her instinct had helped her react, her confusion caused her to be a few seconds to slow to dodge the strange attack completely. It struck one wing and sent her tumbling out of the air and onto the ground with a growl of frustration. What a cheap trick. Pija quickly stood and bared her teeth at the Meditite. Fine, no point being cautious anymore. Her eyes glowed bright red as an aura likewise in color consumed her as Outrage took her over completely. With a snap of her wings she hurtled at the fighting Pokemon jaws outstretched, a fierce roar erupting from her small body as she came at the other Pokemon savagely.

The Flatlands Silence. Well that was certainly a step up from before. Finally enough peace of mind for her to collect her thoughts. She glanced down at the Shroomish on her lap, a victim caught in hers and the manner-less youth's admittedly less than mature skirmish. The tiny shroom looked up at her, and simply shrugged his nonexistent shoulders, to which Mei responded with a light nod of her head, eyes closing. Ponyta was bored out of her skull; battles didn't do much for her, as activity or spectacle, and the human posturing and blame shifting ritual they were all so fond of had done little but waste her galloping time. If the Meditite or the bat didn't finish quickly (and she couldn't careless of who won), she would just leave. For her part, Meditite eyes narrowed sharply as the sudden, dangerous aura surrounded her opponent. She didn't need to be told that her opponent had just become much more dangerous. Her legs spread underneath her, her body lowering as she reared back one of her fists, holding it up to her waist and away from her opponent's line of sight, before putting up her other arm with an open palm towards her opponent. Her eyes narrowed as she took a deep breath. An inhuman roar and a small body hurtled in her direction, but she did not move out of the way, instead exhaling out, feeling heat abandon her fist as she kept her gaze trained on her incoming opponent. Her palm was freezing at her waist, cold energy flowing over her fist as her opponent closed the distance between them, jaws bared- Meditite's eyes snapped wide open, her heels shifting in place and swinging her body, her knees thrusting up with all the force of her pure power as she swung her icy fist at her oncoming opponent in a powerful frozen uppercut! A bold move that would surely injure her fist on collision; but what was a battle without injuries? -This attack will freeze the opponent if it hits.
