| T oday was the day! This was going to be the day that Ganz struck out into the world of Pokemon for real and became a true trainer. Sure, he enjoyed his sneaking around and all that stuff, but if he was going to prove himself as an asset to Team Crux and his father then he was going to need a team of strong Pokemon to back him up. And he couldn't rely on his old man's team anymore. At least of all the changes in his life over the past few days this one was going to be the easiest to adjust to. Ganz already loved Pokemon, so this would just serve as an opportunity to learn more about them and make some new friends.
Vengence hovered beside his trainer as they wandered the outskirts of Cyngi City, where they had been told that they would be able to find some Pokemon. Though thus far the two of them had been wandering the route for quite a while with no luck. (Are you sure this was the place?) Ganz frowned deeply as his Pokemon expressed a doubt that was already eating away at him. He had followed the instructions his father gave him, so why wasn't he finding any Pokemon yet? There had to be a reason, one that wasn't his fault! "Of course I am! I followed every direction to the letter. We just...have to be patient." Despite his attempted show of confidence it was clear to Ven that his trainer didn't have the same positive energy as when they first set out to obtain a new teammate. Yet the gaseous ghost wasn't about to step on the boy while he was down.
The floating Pokemon glanced over at his trainer, usual smile gone as he looked at the young man with concern. An expression that would be strange to see on a Gastly to those who didn't have one themselves.(Maybe we should take a break.) Ganz's face twisted in frustration at the suggestion. How did he end up in a position where his Pokemon had to be the voice of reason? He loved the big toxic ball, but wasn't HE supposed to be the trainer? Whatever. "Yeah, I am getting pretty hungry... Might as well rest for a bit while we figure things out." The duo had already traveled a ways off the beaten path, which meant they were free to sit just about anywhere to enjoy themselves without being disturbed by any random passersby.
The scarred young man roughly set himself down on the ground, a look of disappointment showing clear on his face as he muttered quietly to himself. "I probably shouldn't have expected this to be easy." Reaching into his satchel he pulled out a thermos, it's surface still warm to the touch. The moment he opened it up, the smell of fresh tomato bisque would fill the air, the warm and inviting smell immediately causing Ganz to relax. Everything was going to be alright now that he had his delightfully aromatic lunch. Little did he realize that he wasn't the only one attracted by the smell.

| NAME — Spinarak LEVEL — 4 SPECIES — Spinarak TYPE — Bug/Poison EGG GROUP — Bug ABILITY — Insomnia HELD ITEM — None GENDER — Female HEIGHT — 1 ft 5 in WEIGHT — 14 lbs MOVE LIST — Constrict, String Shot, Poison Sting PERSONALITY — Though small in size, even for a Spinarak, she is a very feisty little Pokemon. When she decides that she wants something she doesn't stop until it is hers no matter how much work it takes. It seems that she isn't aware that she is at a disadvantage against larger creatures, as she acts without hesitation no matter how much the odds appear to be stacked against her. Whether she is brave or just desne is hard to tell, but whatever the case her determination knows no bounds.
When she isn't fighting an uphill battle or obsessed with some sort of goal she is actually rather calm. She prefers to keep to herself and mind her own business. It is worth noting that she is an absolute glutton and will never turn down a chance at a meal. In fact most of the time that's what she is working so hard for. And if the food isn't going to be offered she'll simply find a way to steal it for herself, whether through brute force of crafty acts.
G anz leaned back against a tree, a content smile on his face as he took one last whiff of his creamy meal before bringing the thermos to his lips. Just as the warm liquid started to enter his mouth he felt an odd sensation, one that immediately sent a shiver down his spine. It was the feeling of something ever so slightly brushing across his neck as he felt a slight weight on his right shoulder. His heart skipped a beat as he jumped up to his feet in shock, the sudden presence catching him off guard. Yet he didn't manage to shake off whatever was dangling from his jacket despite his wild movements. "What the hell!? Finally the trainer looked over, his eyes locking with the round gaze of a wild Spinarak that was hanging on for dear life. Ganz was in too much of a panic to recognize the bug for the cute little creature it was, instead viewing it as a vicious attacker that ambushed him the moment he let his guard down. "Ven, get this thing off me!"
Meanwhile Vengence watched in amusement as his trainer struggled to deal with what appeared to be a rather harmless insect that was looking for a taste of his lunch. (I think she likes you.) However things changed when the Spinarak started to move again, turning it's thorax towards the young man's face. As it moved Ganz would reach to grip it with his free hand, hoping to remove it before it could cause any damage. As he placed a hand around the spider's body a stream of sticky webbing sprayed out, covering his face in the thick substance. While it blocked his vision he at least managed to get a solid grip on his attacker, allowing him to remove the poisonous creature with a Vital Throw. The hungry Pokemon landed on it's back with a solid thud, it's legs moving frantically as it struggled to get back on it's feet.
As this occurred Vengence finally realized that this may have been a more serious situation, deciding to move to aid his master rather than watch him flail about. Ganz managed to pull the webbing from his face only for it to start sticking to his hand and arm, restricting his movements. "I'm being serious here! Attack!" Finally the Gastly would move between the attacking Pokemon and his trainer, watching his opponent with the wide smile one would expect from his species. By then the Spinarak would already be at it's feet and glaring at Ganz, who somehow managed to hold on to this thermos after all that. One of the advantages of ninja training, perhaps.
"Use Lick!" Immediately the gaseous Pokemon moved in toward Spinarak, moving faster than the spider could react. His mouth opened wide and a large tongue rolled out, which he would press against his opponent and give a rough lick. While the attack wasn't particularly damaging it did leave her unnerved, causing her to turn around and scurry back a short ways. However she didn't intend on retreating, not while there was still a meal to be had. The crafty little bug would use Constrcit and release a thinner, more concentrated stream of webbing. Of course the webbing traveled straight through Vengence, but that wasn't her intended target to begin with.
The webbing would fly toward Ganz, wrapping around and tightly squeezing the arm holding his thermos. "Seriously!?" Vengence would glare at the Spinarak, his face twisting in unnatural and horrible ways to form a rather Scary Face. She quickly took notice of this, her eyes locking on to his as her body suddenly grew tense. It seemed strange that she would be more interested in attacking Ganz, who was just a harmless human, than the Pokemon that was attacking her. (What do you think you're doing?) Ven's terrifying stare may have caught her attention, but she still stood her ground, giving a firm response. (I'm not going anywhere without whatever he's got there! It smells too good to pass up!)
Ganz stared at the Pokemon in confusion, looking between her and his thermos in disbelief. Was she really so determined to get a taste of his lunch? Were all wild Pokemon so aggressive that they would just try to take what they want from humans without a thought. "Look, I'll give you some. Just...stop attacking me already!" Even with all of his training this whole encounter caught him totally off guard. He wasn't even entirely sure what to do, considering this was his first real Pokemon battle. If he could solve this one peacefully then he wasn't about to pass up the opportunity. Still the bug seemed skeptical, taking a few cautious steps forward. (You better not be tricking me, human.) At this point Ven would float off to the side, allowing her to freely move past him. As she did he would give her a much less menacing smile, the sphere that made up his body bobbing slightly as it took on it's more natural looking shape. (Ganz is a lot of things, but he's not a liar.) As difficult as it was to trust such a shifty looking pokemon, she didn't sense any sort of malice or trickery in his voice. Maybe this one told the truth.
Once close enough Ganz would pour a bit of the bisque into the cap of his thermos, a rather annoying task considering he was currently covered in obnoxious webbing. He then squatted down and placed the cap on the ground, scooting it closer to the Spinarak. She cautiously dipped her mandibles into the liquid, pausing for a moment before sticking her entire face into the cup. Once she started she couldn't stop, the cup quickly emptying as she slurped it all up. Ganz watched with wide eyes, shocked at how much the little Pokemon enjoyed his food. "You must really like that stuff." She looked up at him with wide, sparkling eyes, her mandibles clicking together as she gave an excited response. (It's amazing! I must have more!)
Ganz furrowed his brows as he looked down at the spider, lips curling into a slight frown. He couldn't just give away his whole lunch! Not to such a bully of a Pokemon! Just as he was opening his mouth to turn the hungry arachnid down Vengence chimed in, quickly floating to hover beside his trainer. (Sorry, but he only feeds his Pokemon. He can't go around feeding everyone he comes across. But if you wanted to come along with us...) He trailed off, glancing toward Ganz as he waited for him to finish the thought. His functioning eye lit up at the idea, his previous irritation quickly being replaced with excitement and anticipation. A hand reached into his stachel as he frantically felt around the bag for a Pokeball. "Oh yeah! If you come with me you can have all the food you can eat! I'm a real good cook, I promise!"
The Spinarak looked between the two, head tilting slightly as she considered the offer. As tempting as free food sounded, she wasn't sure if it would be worth being tied to a human for it. But if he was the one who made that delicious soup then maybe, just maybe, it would all be worth it.
