Alex and Lu arrive on the shores of Polaris Lake full of energy and thoughts about the future after their chance encounter with Edwinn and Dracul in Vega City.
"This secluded area is perfect Lu," Alex says taking a Pokeball from his belt. "Tai, Come on out."
As Tai appears in a flash of white light, Alex watches his exit. The Tyrogue seemingly appears crouched on knee when it the light fades.
(Where are we?) Tai asks, stretching a bit.
(This is Polaris Lake. Home to our training grounds.) Lu explains, (The area around us is brimming with energy and as Fighting Pokemon, you and I are going to train along side Alex to tap into it.)
Tai nodsb smirking a bit.
(How do we begin?) Tai asks.
"Simple. We are going to swim, to build up our cardio for the long haul and get all loosened up for the training," Alex says stripping down to his swimsuit. "This will be fun. Lu, Tai, Dive in" Alex says as he races towards the shoreline and leaps into the water Cannonball Style.
Lu and Tai follow suit, resulting in the three splashing at each other relentlessly. After three hours of swimming, Alex drags himself onto the shoreline and takes a deep breath. Sitting up, he watches his friends splash and play. He sees Tai and Lu getting along as friends.
"Hmmm, Tai seems so relaxed in the water." Alex thinks out loud. "Tai, use your Tackle attack to dive beneath the surface. Lu, follow suit with Quick Attack. While below the surface, spar! Then return to the surface. The density of the water will make this training more difficult than what we usually do," Alex says.
Lu and Tai look to Alex and then to each other.
(Well, we wish to push ourselves.) Lu says, sternly.
(Right.) Tai says before doing as instructed.
Lu followed him. Beneath the surface, the two friends clashed with paws and fists colliding in slow motion due to the water. Soon the two friends surfaced and shared a laugh.
(You totally were out of breath before me,) Tai laughed.
(No, good sir, you were out of breath before me,) Lu laughed.
"Congrates guys. Good Job," Alex says clapping, "Tai, I noticed something while you were fighting. We need to train hard to tap into your hidden potential. It was a glimpse but I saw it."
Tai and Lu climb out of the water and approach Alex, who has started a campfire and begun cooking food.
"Meditation will be a huge part of your training." Alex explains stirring the stew. "Lu has experience with meditation in order to control his aura."
(Meditation strengths your mind and yours is already strong. Meditation will keep your mind sharp and your thoughts clear) Lu says.
(I will give it 100%) Tai says, watching Alex make his Rice Ball. (Are you suggesting that I could potentially use my smarts to fight?)
"Exactly. Rushing into a battle using your raw strength is not always the best path to take. You are a reserved fighter. Picking your strikes and making them count is going to be a huge part of your stategy." Alex explains. "I saw a glimpse of that during your first battle with Lu. You used the Mind Reader technique to avoid his attacks. Clever usage of the move, by the way, and we will incorporate that into our training."
As Alex finishes their meal, Lu and Tai begin to meditate. Alex keeps a close eye on the two Pokemon. Lu, naturally, manipulates his aura as he meditates. Tai's breathing becomes slower and more controlled as he closes his eyes.
(The Key to great meditation, Tai, is to maintain your breathing and control it. Despite the surrounding area, despite weather, ignore everything but your breathing.) Lu instructs.
Alex prepares his plate, Tai's Plate, and Lu's plate along with a fresh bottle of Polaris Springs Water. Looking over his shoulder, Alex was surprised to see Lu and Tai both had risen to their feet and started shadow sparing. They were in sync, and learning together which made the young trainer smile.
That night as the three friends ate, Alex wondered when they they would face their first trainer battle.
(Alex, is something bothering you?) Lu asked?
"No. Just daydreaming I guess," I laugh.
The next morning, Alex awakens his team early for sunrise sparing. Tai began by watching Lu and Alex go at it. Lu and Alex were really trading blows when Tai decides to leap into the fray, lashing out with his legs to strike Alex and Lu.
The attack caught Alex off guard, but Lu half way expected the strike to come, just not as early as it. Lu reflects most of the power from Tai's strike and flips backwards landing crouched.
"Tai, tackle attack! Lu, Quick Attack!" Alex instructed, as he formed the Bone Club in his right hand, spinning it like a baton and rushing into the two attacks, ready to roll. Alex was shocked to see Lu break his bine club and Tai knocked him backwards.
"Alright! Nice team work!" Alex shouts.
As the afternoon fades into evening, Alex, Tai, and Lu prepare for the night by eating dinner. As they are cleaning dinner up, Lu senses another a Pokemon nearby.
"Alright. Its a wild pokemon. Tai, wanna battle it? Or should I have Lu?" Alex asks, looking to his friends.
(Go get them tiger,) Tai says sheepishly to Lu. (Sparing against Lu is one thing. But a whole battle is a different story)
Alex nods as Lu stands before him, the pokemon crashes through the bushes. Alex takes out his Pokedex.
"Chikorita, the Leaf Pokemon. In battle, Chikorita waves its leaf around to keep the foe at bay. However, a sweet fragrance also wafts from the leaf, becalming the battling Pokémon and creating a cozy, friendly atmosphere all around." The pokedex explains.
(That explains the smell) Lu retorts, (How shall I approach?)
Putting away the Pokedex, Alex smirks.
"Attack Fast, Attack Hard. Lu, Quick Attack!" Alex calls out.
Lu nods, racing forward with a white streak of energy trailing behind him. Chikorita giggles before leaping to the right. She giggles again before mimicking a bull fighter with her head leaf.
(You are so much fun.) She taunts before launching a Razor Leaf at Lu.
"Lu! Counter with Cross Chop!" Alex calls out.
Lu nods as his fore arms glow, swatting the leaves away, Lu managed to evade most of the serious damage, taking minor damages to the cheek and abdomen.
(Damn you,) Lu growls.
"Lu, remain calm. Use Quick Attack to fight back!" Alex calls out.
(That move again? Nice!) Chikorita calls out, launching a series of Razar Leaf attacks.
Lu dodges them, neatly before slamming into Chikorita, sending her sliding across the ground.
As the dust settles, the two friends watch as a change occurs in Chikorita's eyes. This new found rage begins rampaging through her body as she begins a relentless attack, slamming into Lu with a full force tackle attack. Lu rolls to a stop and barely makes it to his feet before being struck again.
"Lu, its time to dodge!" Alex calls out.
Tai sees Lu struggling and attempts to use Mind Reader.
(Alex, her rage is blocking out my Mind Reader. Our team strategy isnt going to work here. Perhaps, Lu could get Chikorita to tackle a tree full force enough to render her unconscious.) Tai suggests. (Without taking too much damage himself, by combining the new move he learned, Counter with his Quick Attack. Her force of attack plus his high speed counter attack should do the trick enough to capture her,)
"Good Idea. Lu, you heard Tai. Put it to work." Alex shouts.
(Easier said than done at the moment. Im barely staying ahead of her,) Lu yells.
He lands on one knee before a large stone. Chikorita locks on to him and charges.
"Wait, wait, wait, now Lu! Quick Counter Attack!" Alex calls out.
Lu performs the Quick Attack to dodge the strike, as Chikorita Headbutts the stone making her dizzy. Lu's counter strike to the back of the neck does the trick of putting her down.
Alex grabs a Hyperball from his belt and enlarges it.
"Hyperball! Go!" Alex shoutsb throwing the ball.
He watches as Chikorita is absorbed inside and the ball hits the ground twitching.
