Rhett is a special breed of person and never takes life for granted. He is a strange mix of immature and mature in both personality and appearance.

Rhett adores helping kids, be it his own or even complete strangers. He believes it is his generation's duty to guide and support the next generation of trainers and coordinators. He can be very brotherly in nature and accepts any request for help no matter what it may be, often having little to no regard for himself so long as he can make someone happy.
He is the type of guy that can usually get along with any kind of person. He tends to take insults in stride and very rarely ever holds a grudge, the only exception being if a person hurt someone he loves. All in all Rhett can be the kind of sweet and open-minded guy people, both youngsters and adults alike, can come to when they need someone to talk to or help them.

As with many coordinators, Rhett can be quite showy and definitely doesn't lack confidence. He is completely at home on a stage surrounded by crowds and absolutely loves what he does. Whilst off stage he follows his heart, on stage he lets his true intelligence and quick wit show. He might act like a naive fool but Rhett views the world quite uniquely, and as such he often makes decisions in battle that others don't see coming. He has been known for using Pokemon attacks in strange and unique ways both in the coordinator world and in Pokemon battles. Nothing he does in a battle is without a hidden purpose.

However, as with most people in this world, Rhett does have a darker side. Although always cheery and enthusiastic, behind his smile is often a deep sadness he has never been able to fully shake free of. Most likely due to his strict childhood and Julia's passing Rhett is given to strange moods of negative thoughts about the world around him. Secretly he views the world as a twisted and dark place, during his travels in his youth he had often been manipulated and taken advantage of by adults. These experiences left a bitter taste in his mouth and led him to believe humans were just as easily prone to evil as they were good, one of the reasons he tries so hard to help the next generation become wiser and stronger. However to date he has never admitted these thoughts to anyone and hides it exceptionally well given his skill in acting.
The only ones to know this side to him is his Pokemon, as he believes it should be.




Rhett was born in the simple town of Rana in northern Stellara. His family came from a long line of Pokemon breeders and coordinators who took great pride in their lineage, especially his mother Abbigale Starr. From an early age Rhett was taught how to handle and care for Pokemon as well as use their attacks not to battle but to entertain others. However right from the get-go Rhett's techniques and beliefs conflicted with his mother's. Abbigale believed only certain Pokemon had worth in their world, only those who were not only flexible in their moves but also refreshing on the eyes. She had no tolerance for 'ugly' or bulky Pokemon in her world. Rhett, however, believed otherwise. At the age of ten Rhett became close friends with a wild Joltik that lived in the town, one of the Pokemon Abbigale viewed as 'useless', and to try and prove a point Rhett trained the little Pokemon in secret. After some time working with the Joltik every night after his chores he finally decided it was time and put on his own show for the towns people. He and the little electric Pokemonwow'd the crowd and for the first time in his life he realized life as a coordinator could be fun and more than just tradition. It was something he actually enjoyed, when he did it his own way.

However, his family did not feel the same way. His mother caught him as he got off the stage and dragged him and the Joltik home, furious at her son for using such a Pokemon in public. To teach him a lesson Abbigale sent her alolan Ninetales after the tiny Joltik who stood no chance against the much stronger Pokemon. Then she simply left her son with the badly injured Pokemon to think about his actions, and that he did. His mother's ways had always been impossible for him to understand, but until that night he had never felt real anger towards the woman. He brought the Joltik to the Pokemon center and returned home with his mind made up. That night he packed his things and left home without looking back, determined to prove the woman wrong and live out his own life his own way.

Rhett went on to win numerous competitions in his youth and grew in popularity quickly for his looks and charisma as well as the unique way he worked with his Pokemon. It wasn't until he was half-way into his career however that his life took a turn in an unexpected way. For that was the time during which he met Julia. The girl was a fellow coordinator and Rhett's biggest rival but as competitions went by he found himself falling for her shy charm. The two began dating and grew pretty serious, both taking a break from show life to start a life together. However fate wasn't always kind. During the birth of their first child Julia passed away and Rhett found himself not only without the woman that completed him but also as a single father who was still quite young himself.

Needing a way to support himself and the baby Rhett returned to the coordinator circuit and settled into his role as a father rather easily. Although they were always traveling to new places and contests Rhett always found time to spend with his child and took great pride watching them grow and learn to think for themself. He vowed he would always be there for his child and not only cover the role of both mother and father, but also best friend. Which also came easily given his immature nature and humor.

As he got older and his child no longer relied on him as much Rhett decided it was time to settle down and stop traveling the circuit. For a while he focused on breeding and training future coordinators but although the work was fun it left him feeling unfulfilled, he needed something more. His restlessness became so obvious a friend of his gave him a rockruff which he named Mei in the hopes that the puppy pokemon might brighten Rhett's spirit, which worked for a little while but eventually he found himself once more in a rutt. It was around then that he learned of an opening for a Gym Leader in his city and he practically leaped at the opportunity. This career would give him a chance to have an impact on the next generation of trainers and help them succeed and grow, something he had learned from fatherhood that he quite enjoyed doing. It was their time now, and he would do his best to help them move forward.

PERSONALITY — Mei is as full of energy and as playful as any other Rockruff but also at times more street-smart than her Trainer. Although given to episodes of hyper excitement when faced with positive new experiences she can also be very focused and logical when the situation calls for it. She is also highly sensitive to the emotions or intentions of those around her, a fact that has gotten her Trainer out of trouble multiple times in the short time she has been with him. Although at times she thinks Rhett is an idiot, she absolutely adores him and would do anything for him should he ask it of her.
