With spiky red hair and a rather tall stature, Ezra easily stands out from the crowd. Just by looking at him one could assume he was rough around the edges, for even his body shape seemed pointy in all sorts of places. With a well-toned body, those that try to pick a fight with him know that they're messing with someone who isn't defenceless. His stocky build allows him to do manual labor with relative ease, and given enough motivation he could probably crack a concrete wall with a good punch. It's very normal for him to have band-aids somewhere on his skin, or something covering his knuckles from overuse.
PERSONALITY
An extremely volatile individual, Ezra is the epitome of the "act first, think later" mantra. He isn't afraid to say what's on his mind and fight for it, even if his opponent outclasses him in every way. Because of this, he can be easily provoked and distracted. Perhaps the only way to temporarily knock some sense into him is to do it literally. His short temper, however, is contrasted by his overbearing friendliness and energy. If people are not coming at him with the intention of battle, they can be drawn to his passion and unwavering moral compass. If he believes that this other person is doing wrong, then he would do whatever it takes to stop them, even if this meant putting his own life in danger. This personality trait could be considered heroic if it weren't for his huge recklessness. Besides this, he also does not skimp on loyalty and trust--he sees no reason for lying and shows no hesitation in saying how he feels. Unfortunately, this does lead to awkward situations from time to time since he's not exactly good at picking up social cues. As a result, his personality is really a hit or miss for many individuals, but becoming friends with him means that you have a friend for life.
Ezra often dislikes authority, especially when they try to order him to do something he doesn't like. His knee-jerk reaction to commands is, "You can't tell me what to do!" and more often than not he storms off and does the complete opposite. He is not very bright though, so it is very easy to employ reverse psychology on him. He is also quite gullible, taking both truths and lies at face value unless he is clearly told which ones are lies. If he has been slighted before for such a reason (or worse), he ends up holding very long grudges. It is hard to regain his trust once it has been broken, though one is welcome to try anyway.
When he starts on some kind of task, he makes sure to finish it to the utmost of his ability. He's no quitter and no one is going to tell him otherwise. He has the tendency to bite off more than he can chew though, which can lead to situations where he has to begrudgingly ask for help. He sees both people and Pokemon in equal regard, regarding them as potential allies and/or opponents for him to practice with. Despite this, if he is prompted, he will say without shame that Pokemon are the love of his life, wanting little to do with the intricacies of human relationships. Sometimes people are just too complicated for him to get. This includes his father, but he honestly has a soft-spot for him.
BACKGROUND
- Ezra grew up under the shadow of a coordinator, and to say that put pressure on him was an understatement. From the moment he was born, he was without a mother, who died from complications after bringing him into the world. As a result, he only had his father to look up to, and he wasn't exactly the greatest one ever. Sure, he was able to provide for the two of them and always had ways to make him laugh, but life was still hard, and even in his early years he was moving around a lot. This meant that he didn't have any close friends; he only had the shadow of a spotlight and a growing wonder if this was the kind of life that he was going to inherit.
- His musings probably started when he saw kids his age starting to go on their own Pokemon journeys. He saw very young trainers already trying to compete in the same circuits as his father was. What was he doing? He was kind of just...clinging to his father, literally grasping on his coattail as he watched the others perform with their Pokemon. Oh, he wished he had his own Pokemon! He had been surrounded by them since he was little, but they were not really his, they were his father's. He found himself too afraid to go on his own, though. He couldn't find the confidence yet to leave as much as he wanted to. It didn't help that he was also being coddled by his father's Pokemon, particularly his nanny Blissey with whom he shared a fond connection with.
- Perhaps what really pushed Ezra to eventually break away from his father was when...well, when nothing was happening. To be more exact, when things started to move into a decline that was only noticeable behind the scenes. He couldn't really explain it; the words were hard to pinpoint, but he couldn't quite grasp the growing distance between them. Not yet, at least. He would be able to understand it better with time, but prior to that, he was starting to get even more restless than before. He started to sneak out more, trying to find time for himself, watching the world with wide eyes. As he got older and watched more kids set off on their first journeys, he assumed that it was perhaps that itch to be independent that was bothering him. At this point, the egg Blissey had gifted him a few months prior had already hatched, and Happy was still trying to figure out how to walk without stumbling. It was not long after when he decided to go his own way, leaving a vague, short letter to his father about not needing to look for him. Hopping on a ship as a stowaway, he let fate decide where to take him next.
- Ezra thought that everything would fall into place, but it didn't. A lot of the times he went to bed hungry and without a roof over his head. A bunch of other times he did things that he was not proud of, but without any connections nor friends, there was not much else he could do in a completely new region. One thing's for sure: he definitely learned a lot of things about himself that he would have never known if he was still with his father. He did not become a trainer, per se, but he learned how to fight amidst the odd jobs and the occasional stealing. It was through this tumultuous time that a recruiter picked him up from the streets, thinking he was an expendable but also had decent potential. It was through him that he learned how to become a tracker of sorts. There was a lot of money to be made hunting rare Pokemon, and Ezra was young enough to traverse the harsh landscapes and brash enough to tackle them. After less than a year he finally got out of his financial bind, and soon decided that he wanted to go back to his original plan on becoming a trainer. He left his mentor the same way he did his father.
- Back in Stellara, Ezra was very much apprehensive that he might run into his father again after his poor exit. He wasn't sure how he was going to explain why he left and what had happened after, but he figured that maybe he would cross that bridge when he got there. If anything else, there was always running, though he knew that wasn't going to cut it sooner or later, especially since he was planning to tackle the gyms. Well, here goes nothing!

PERSONALITY — Happy is the daughter of Ezra's past caretaker, a very motherly Blissey that was eventually given to someone else so that they could continue babysitting kids. Before she left though, she decided to give one of her eggs to him (not sure where it came from, Ezra never asked), and so Happy became one of his first Pokemon that's actually his. Because of this, even if Ezra much prefers strong looking Pokemon, he has a huge soft spot for his little Happiny, who could honestly beat his ass if she wanted to. She inherited her mother's strong and caring personality, always watching out for the red hothead by covering him with bandages. She actually always carries some on hand along with her Oval Stone in her little pocket. She extends this attitude to anyone she meets, often running towards others who've been hurt no matter who they are. She has a habit of scolding though, and it's a shame (or maybe a blessing) that Ezra can't understand a single word she says. He supposes he can figure it out, and usually they play a game of guessing to make sure.
