PERSONALITY
Raised in the merciless lifestyle of a thug and delinquent, Zetsumei's intentions are rarely anything less than selfish, adapted and learned to trust and believe in no one but himself. Due to his lawbreaking history, Zetsumei is not one to follow the rules or be a conducive person unless his goals align with someone else's. The intensity of the street life has caused him to become quite brutal and easily-aggressive, even towards his own colleagues and Pokémon. His dark tendencies, polar-shifting alignment and shrouded malevolence has forced quite a few people to fear and mistrust him. Despite his many complications with Team Crux, he understands that the group would ultimately benefit him in the long run.
Determined to leave behind his poverty-stricken upbringing, Zetsumei has also fallen to materialistic obsessions and gambling addictions. For him, wealth is simply just another form of power. Though he may be fundamentally antagonistic, he enjoys teasing and/or misleading those he encounters with a benevolent facade, especially if said act is required to obtain something he desires. Speaking of his desires, Zetsumei has come to alleviate the pain of losing the love of his life by chasing beautiful women every now and then as some type of conquest. A smooth-talker that can become sharp-tongued in a heartbeat, Zetsumei's street-affiliated slang and enunciation should not be mistaken for stupidity, as he's shown to be quite cunning and a quick-learner.
Legend says Zetsumei once sought to leave the nefarious life with the woman he considered his soulmate, but once he lost her forever, he became jaded and even more psychotic. While the rest of the world views Pokémon as comrades and family, the cold-hearted gangster merely considers them tools and weapons to achieve his own accomplishments. However, he wouldn't be one to deny that he enjoys their existence, relishing the advantages of capturing, training and bonding with his Pokémon while aiming to transform them into powerful creatures of mayhem. The heat of battle is where Zetsumei believes his Pokémon can truly thrive and become greater, and seeks a worthy challenge or fight whenever the opportunity arises. Without a care for this world due to his true objective, Zetsumei is an individual one should be extremely careful to cross paths with.
BACKGROUND
No matter how far back he tried to remember, Zetsumei Kōkuseki's earliest memories always echoed from a violent upbringing and having to fend for himself in the slums of Vega City. Born the neglected child of parents who were far too enthralled in their dark, selfish lifestyles to truly raise a son, Zetsumei learned from a prepubescent age that the only person you'd be smart to ever depend on was no one except yourself.
Determined to sprout himself from the dirt, regardless of how many heads he would have to step on in the progress, Zetsumei envisioned himself as a one-man army, and even considered befriending or investing in Pokémon to be a sign of weakness. Magnetized to the criminal life in order to survive the street life, Zetsumei eventually turned to acting as muscle for small-time gangs, being forced to beat people up for their Pokémon, money and valuables. Despite the dangers of his newfound profession, Zetsumei couldn't help but enjoy the stimulation and freedom of doing whatever the hell he pleased.
However, there was a faint light within him that always dreamed of escaping the hardcore craziness that he endured on a daily basis, curious of how things would be if he lived a wealthy, but normal life. In due time, that sheltered fantasy became even more prevalant the day he met Heiko, a charmingly beautiful woman who managed to steal his heart... figuratively, anyway. Heiko both respected and shared many of Zetsumei's ideals and personality traits, boasting a confidence that entertained and challenged his own greatly.
Unlike her love interest, Heiko valued the importance of Pokémon and their capabilities, hoping that her own runt of a companion, a Zorua named Luna, would be able to become a mighty force with enough training. Inspired by Dark-Types and the mythical creature known as Darkrai, Heiko tried to influence Zetsumei from his ignorant self-reliance, but he insisted and refuted that no powerful creatures such as Darkrai existed. Although this led to their heads butting every once and a while, it never deterred their infatuation for one another.
But just like the changing seasons, life threw Zetsumei a curve-ball the day Heiko fell victim to a fatal, incurable sickness. There was no one he had ever met like her, and there was no one that could ever replace her. To him, Heiko was the future that he had always dreamed about. Not a stranger to the world having dealt him a bad hand, Zetsumei's psyche nearly snapped as he grew furiously tired of it. Melancholic and spiraling down a self-destructive path, Zetsumei almost lost himself entirely until he stumbled upon Heiko's personal belongings.
After probing through everything that she had left behind, Zetsumei was intrigued to learn not only about the pitch-black Pokémon, but more-so the arcane power of the lunar Pokémon known as Cresselia, which was said to be capable of inducing "deep unconsciousness" and could "force one to experience their greatest dreams". Once a skeptic, Zetsumei willingly came to interpret what he read as a chance to be rejoined with his love. Motivated by the belief that if he'd be able to force Cresselia to grant him "infinite sleep" and "dreams of the perfect life", Zetsumei finally accepted that Pokémon couldn't just be one's friend, but could be tools and weapons to bring about one's own fortune.
With his spirit revitalized and his final objective clear, Zetsumei adopted Luna the Zorua, filled Heiko's position in Team Crux and established himself as a legitimate Pokémon Trainer. Those who knew him before claim that he had become even more jaded, materialistic and egotistical since Heiko's death, but none of that mattered to him, as he only cared for reaching his goals, which meant traveling the world and becoming a Pokémon Master.
Draped in garbs reminiscent of his lover's obsession with Darkrai, Zetsumei pronounced he wouldn't stop until he came face-to-face with the one known as Cresselia. Even if that meant faking a smile just to slither his way from one place to another, Zetsumei's burning conviction exuded that he would do whatever that was necessary to push the limits of himself and his Pokémon, for there was nothing he yearned for more than to be re-united with Heiko once again.

PERSONALITY — Both Heiko and Zetsumei's first Pokémon, Luna shares a special bond with her master due to the relationship that once existed between them. Mischievous, enchanting, and highly protective, Luna possesses a terrifying sense of humor and a darkness within her that resonates passionately with Zetsumei's own. Just like both of her masters, Luna tends to demonstrate a level of savagery that is quite frightening, and even resorts to acts of trickery as a form of entertainment. Despite her intimidating tendencies, Luna is very in touch with her femininity, and hasn't been afraid to abuse her charm and exotic appearance to bewitch humans and Pokémon alike (especially those of the opposite sex) to do what she desires or play along with her devious schemes. Before she became Zetsumei's partner-in-crime, Luna once suffered from inferiority and was both submissive and obsessed with pleasing Heiko. Her possessiveness was so great that she even hated Zetsumei and Heiko's love for one another. However, after Heiko's death and having no one to depend on but the albino gangster, Luna promised that she'd become stronger in Heiko's name. Due to placing her faith in Zetsumei's unorthodox training, Luna has become remarkably more fearless and tenacious, desperate to achieve the power her former owner used to fantasize about. On a lighter note, the half-pint Zorua loves to spend nights staring at the moon, hence why Heiko named her "Luna". Zetsumei's "main sidekick" and most trusted Pokémon, Luna is the most likely to undertake a leadership role on the team if there ever called for one.
