Flowers stretched almost as far as the eye could see, only interrupted by well worn foot paths and the occasional sound of battling in the distance. Darcy wasn't surprised that the Breshno Flatlands drew trainers to it, given the prolific amount of Pokemon that called it home. He breathed deeply, inhaling the scent of flowers on the breeze. It was hard to believe that it was winter in parts of the world, given how much it felt like a perpetual spring there. Diva was in his arms to save the Popplio the excursion of flopping along beside him; there were times she insisted on walking along on her own, but there was no point in tiring her out just yet.
Darcy had traveled to the Flatlands after reading several posts on a Pokemon trainer chat site, specifically about the prevalence of Fairy types in the region. They weren't the most common type of Pokemon, sure, but that was the life Darcy had chosen by focusing on training them. If only his actual fairy type listened to him a little more...
Rogue, Darcy's recently captured Cutiefly, was proving to be a fly in the trainer's proverbial ointment. Even though Darcy had managed to train him a fair bit since his capture, even developing the ability to use two more moves than he initially could, Rogue refused half of Darcy's commands. Particularly vexing was the Cutiefly's refusal to dodge some attacks, instead facing them down like the bull-headed bug he was. Attempting to point out the fact that at less than an inch tall Rogue's defenses were prime for evasion only earned Darcy a Fairy Wind to the face that had left his hair unmanageable for hours. It was probably why he kept the Cutiefly in his Pokeball as often as he did, though Darcy did find himself freeing the bee-fly that day. For as much as Rogue resisted the stereotypes of his species, even he couldn't resisting feeding on the flowers around him. Darcy only hoped that if Rogue stumbled across a Pokemon doing so, he'd find a fairy type in the process.

(THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE?) Rogue angrily buzzed at a Hoothoot that was apparently napping in the flowers. The bird made a lunge as though to swallow the cutiefly whole as it leapt up, but the bug released a fairy wind at it's beak that sent the bird reeling backwards and off into the sky. Seeing the familiar face of one of Johto's most common birds, Quincy was mildly surprised when the pang of homesickness he thought would come over him was replaced with a bit of wry amusement at his Cutiefly's antics.
"That's enough Rogue. No point in chasing it down when it's obviously too afraid of you to fight." Darcy called to the Cutiefly, who had been buzzing after the Hoothoot. "Wouldn't you rather find someone more worth your time than that wimp?"
Playing to Rogue's pride seemed to work, considering how the Cutiefly u-turned mid air to return to his trainer. It was aggravating to the little bug, but the floof-haired pansy had a point.
(Like, oh....maybe me?) Diva barked coquettishly. The cutiefly's normally angry expression flattened further. (Y'know. The glamorous battle-goddess who defeated you?)
(One more word.) Rogue flew into Diva's face, buzzing harshly, (and I end you bitch.)
Darcy rolled his eyes, already having figured out Diva's attempt to cajole the Cutiefly. "Don't antagonize him Diva. You two need to get along."
(It's not MY fault he's such a louse.) The Popplio whined, which earned her a smack on the nose from one of the Cutiefly's tiny fists.
Before it could escalate any further, Quincy returned Diva to her Pokeball. He knew she preferred to be out of it, but he also couldn't afford to play favorites, especially when Rogue was just getting used to being a part of the team.
"Let's leave her in a bit of time out, shall we? We've got better things to do than let you two duke it out." Darcy said, smiling at the pissed-off bee fly in front of him. Rogue huffed, having lost his chance to go toe to toe with the yapping little sea lion again, but buzzed his consent.

Darcy and his Cutiefly continued down the path they'd begun, the well worn foot skirted by low growing weeds and wildflowers. The sun was dipping low in the sky though, and the young man pursed his lips slightly. He wasn't in any particular rush to get back to the Pokemon Center he was staying in, but how had the day gotten so late already? Perhaps the Hoothoot's appearance had been more of a reminder of the time they worked with after all. He glanced over to Rogue, buzzing close to his head. The Cutiefly hadn't been with him nearly as long as his Popplio and was more than a little aggressive, so taking his time with the fly was all he could do.
"You were great back there, dealing with that Hoothoot y'know." Darcy said.
(No shit. I'm a badass.) The Cutiefly responded smugly.
"A lot of bug types would be hesitant to fight a bird you'd think, considering they eat bugs."
(Well I'm not most bug types numb-nuts.) Rogue buzzed back.
"I suppose you really aren't like a lot of bugs though, are you?" Darcy said with a small grin, which earned an approving bob of the Cutiefly's body.
During their exchange, they passed a figure huddled in some flowers. Castform wasn't exactly in the mood to deal with trainers after all. He just wanted to get to bed and wait for another extra sunny day tomorrow!

The sun dipped lower on the horizon, painting the sky in a thousand hues of reds, oranges, and violets that made Darcy stop for a moment and just admire it. Scenes like this, the field of flowers swaying gently in the breeze as the sunset stained the petals in varying hues, weren't something he'd been able to appreciate back home in Goldenrod. True, the city and surrounding areas had their own charm but this? This was something only a traveler, a trainer, could really count on. There were so many breath taking things to look forward to in the future, and even though his Cutiefly buzzed in his ear the young man couldn't help but let a few tears come to his eyes. They weren't tears brought on by homesickness or missing Lime though. The beauty of it all, the chance to actually be here, was overwhelming him nearly with joy. For someone who so often didn't believe in himself and doubted himself, it was oddly refreshing.
(What's with the tears, Pansy? We gotta move.) The cutiefly buzzed, obviously annoyed that Darcy was doing something like stopping to stare at the sunset. How had he lost to a bleeding heart like this chump and that fuckin' clown of a sea-lion in the first place? He practically rolled his eyes at the young man. Darcy chuckled at the expressive nature of his little bug, already figuring that he was getting dissed by Rogue's usual bravado.
(Y-y-know. I think it's pretty too.)
Cutiefly's body spun at the voice in his head.
"Yeah, yeah it is." Darcy replied, not quite registering that the voice he heard lacked a body to go with it, or that his Cutiefly had heard it too.
(Hi...) The voice's owner shuffled out from the flowers, green hair covering her eyes and face and clasping her tiny hands over her chest, nervously.
Darcy glanced down and realized that the voice he'd heard hadn't belonged to a human being at all, but the Ralts standing in front of him. As a would-be fairy type master, he knew immediately why he'd heard the voice of a little girl coming from her. She communicated telepathically with him, though did mutter her own name sporadically as well.
(I've been following you two most of the day.) Dipping her head lower, the Ralts' orange horns flared in the gloaming light. (I-I wasn't too sure if I'd say hi.)
"Well," Darcy sat down, crossing his legs in front of him, "I'm glad you did." The young man offered her a smile, and as the Cutiefly buzzed aggressively returned Rogue to his ball. "And I'm sorry about him. He's got...issues."
The Ralts had admittedly been scared by the tiny ball of rage and machismo that buzzed beside Darcy all day, though when the little bug went away she calmed significantly. Something about this human sitting across from her felt familiar, felt like home. She avoided humans for so long, other Pokemon too, never trusting them or risking getting hurt. Yet Darcy felt different than so many to her. Even the earlier annoyance and doubt she'd felt him give off during his hike across the field that had kept her wary also served to make her feel a little more comfortable in retrospect; he reminded her of herself a little. Most importantly of all though, she'd felt the love he had for his Pokemon over the day buried under it all, and as the sun set the love had for his life.
(Darcy?) The Ralts' thoughts were a gentle whisper in his mind.
"Yeah?" The young man replied, not making a move and exuding the same bit of serenity and joy he'd been holding since seeing the sun set for the first time.
(Would it....be okay for me to come with you? I'm so tired of being alone all the time.) The Ralts head was still dipped down low. (It gets really scary sometimes. Even if your Cutiefly's kinda scary....)
"I'd be honored if you came with us. Though I might have to apologize for Diva and Rogue." He offered a slight, self-deprecating chuckle. "They're kind of a handful, but we're working on becoming a team. A family."
The honesty that poured from his heart made the Ralts' decision easy. Using her Confusion to levitate an empty Pokeball from his bag, she teetered forward before butting her forehead horn against it with a smile. -----
CATCH attempt.
NAME — Princess LEVEL — 7 SPECIES — Ralts, the Feeling Pokemon TYPE — Psychic/Fairy EGG GROUP — Amorphous ABILITY — Trace HELD ITEM — N/A GENDER — Female HEIGHT — 1' 03" WEIGHT — 14.8lbs MOVE LIST — Growl, Confusion, Double Team, Mean Look PERSONALITY — Like many of her kind, Princess avoided people for a long time due to her empathic abilities and constantly feeling the gamut of human emotions she encountered. It's not that she hated humanity per se, more like she feared them. Having never known her family, the little psychic fey developed a bit of a loner complex and a near crippling amount of shyness. She ultimately chose Darcy as her trainer to help her overcome this and the joy she felt from him and herself when he expressed his wish to make his Pokemon team into a family cemented her decision. Other Pokemon also agitate her at times, especially those with aggressive personalities like Rogue. Her control over her psychic abilities, while potent, hasn't been honed to perfection; case in point, while using her Trace ability she's been known to accidentally copy some of her opponent's mannerisms and feelings at times. Fearing she'd lose herself in a fight because of this she prefers to avoid battle, but with enough patience and trust between her and Darcy she'll more than live up to the powers her family are associated with.
