Iridi is short, slender, and even though she's a full grown adult often gets mistaken for a young teenager. Though slim she does have a significant amount of muscle, enough to make her heavier than she appears, which she maintains from rock climbing, hiking, and carrying her Pokemon around outside of their Poke Balls. Ground Types are heavy, you know. She is fastidious about cleanliness and appearance, and she makes sure to keep her clothes and general appearance up to her exacting standards. Her favored color is red and she dresses in it almost daily, and even though red would normal clash with her hair she somehow makes it work in her favor. The gemstone she wears on her forehead changes type from time to time, and she normally wears it whenever she's feeling good about herself or needs a boost of confidence.



Iridi is, over all, a very determined person. Being raised as she was gave her a drive to live her life how she wanted to instead of how others wanted her to. She doesn't give up, even when it seems like the universe has put every road block in existence is her way. She is also somewhat vain, as her mother raised her to value looks above all else, though she tries to make sure that it doesn't turn her into a version of her shallow mother. She does like to refer to herself as a tomboy with glitter. She loves nothing more than getting dirty throughout the day, then dolling herself up and going out to a fancy restaurant with friends.

She has a sarcastic streak a mile wide, honed from her years of being forced to silently endure her mother's ranting of shallow ranting of other people decisions and lives. She found the easiest way to deal with it was to think sarcastic thoughts to herself, and now says these sarcastic things out loud, sometimes even when she doesn't mean to. She does like to pull pranks and practical jokes on people, and it seems that her Phanpy has picked that trait up from her. She and Peanut often work together to pull off the more elaborate schemes they come up with.

She tries to be fair to and with everyone, but in all honesty if she isn't close to you or doesn't trust you, she isn't going to go out of her way or bend over backwards to help you out.


Iridi hails from Lilycove City, Hoenn, and is the youngest of five children, of which she is the only girl. Her geologist father died when she was only a few years old, leaving their Contestant Trainer mother to raise them by herself. To her mother, he sons could do no wrong, but her daughter had to be 'perfect'. While her brothers were allowed to play outside in the dirt, she had to sit inside in a dress and be quiet. While her brothers were given their first Pokemon and allowed to run wild, she had to learn manners and etiquette. While her brothers were enrolled in Pokemon schools and allowed to be away from home days at a time, she had to stay home and learn to be a 'proper future wife'.

Eventually, after years of trying her best to be seen as a person and not a doll she decided to run away on a Pokemon journey. After all, she was fifteen and it was a rite of passage for many kids, and she was sure it would take at least a week for someone to realize she wasn't planning on coming back. On her way out of the house she stopped by her oldest brother's room to grab one of them many Poke Balls he had lying around, filled with Pokemon who had been caught and never used. It turned out to be a Phanpy, which she named Peanut due to the fact that it was undersized for its species and also for the fact that it liked peanuts. Other than that, she only took a change of clothes, some money she had managed to save, and the letters her father had written to her when she was a baby.

From the letters she learned that her father had moved to Hoenn from Stellara, and after wandering from town to town aimlessly she decided to do some research and found that her grandmother was still alive and living in Pavo Town. With no better idea, she made her way to the Stellara region. Meeting her grandmother was hard, as Iridi was certain that she wouldn't be a good granddaughter. After all, her mother had informed her on a daily basis of how much of a disappointment she was. Her grandmother, upon meeting her, nipped that particular issue in the bud. Iridi's mother had drilled into her head that the only worthwhile girls were soft, obedient, and beautiful. Her grandmother, on the other hand, informed her in no uncertain terms that a person could be both strong and beautiful at the same time.

Her grandmother told her that she would like it if Iridi stayed with her, as she hadn't been able to spend any time with any of her grandchildren, and would like to tell Iridi about her father. Iridi gratefully accepted, as she truely had nowhere to call home, and over the next few months learned things about her father that he mother had never bothered to tell her. Like the fact that he had given up his Pokemon career for his wife's, leaving his Pokemon behind with his mother and his chance of becoming the Pavo Town Gym Leader behind in Stellara.

The more she learned about her father, the more she wanted to follow in his footsteps. She found herself with a growing fascination with Ground type Pokemon, eventually deciding on learning all she could about them until she could call herself an expert. Over they next several years she focused on improving herself, learning all she could about Pokemon, training, and battling until she was sure she was ready for the next step in her life... applying for the position of Pavo Town Gym Leader, like her father had dreamed of.

PERSONALITY — Peanut can be wary and slow to trust at first, but once he decides that you're good people you've got a friend for life. He's a very affectionate Pokemon, and loves to play and cuddle with people he trusts, though sometimes he forgets that he's a little heavy. He likes to pull pranks and play hide and seek with people, and especially loves to combine those two things and hide so he can scare the living bejeezus out of people, though if the person becomes upset he will try and apologize by snuggling. He's fiercely loyal to Iridi after she took him with her after being ignored by her brother for years.
