the things that you might like don't grow inside of me Used to them? More likely that they lost their sense of smell, although anything was possible. Supposedly Muk was able to actually control the amount of toxins its body released at will and by extension make it "safe" to touch, so Ryusuke wasn't going to rule out the possibility that they might be able to control how much of an odor they gave off. Regardless, it was an academic question in the here and now. What mattered was- the hell was that Senri was pulling from his bag just-? "The fuc-is that a Pokedex? The hell did you get your hands on one of those?!" Ryusuke exclaimed, battle somehow forgotten for a moment as he looked at the device the other trainer was now holding. From what Ryusuke understood the electronic devices were supposed to be incredibly rare, as much as they were useful. Everything that he'd put years into memorizing and everything that his mother knew and more, all just available at the push of a button. Learning that the things had existed when he first became a trainer was something that had initially made Ryusuke rather bitter given all the effort he'd put into learning things the old fashioned way, but they were rare enough in Hoenn that he never thought he'd ever actually see one much less meet a person who owned a Dex. Given the current circumstances, though, Ryusuke wasn't about to complain. Especially since the one piece of information that it managed to confirm was all Ryusuke needed to make a play, the expression of blank surprise and uncertainty from before shifting to a predatory grin. Sludge, Disable, likely Pound, Harden, Poison Gas, maybe Mud Slap and potentially an egg move. Not a fun move set to fight but definitely manageable at level 15 since that brought another fighter to the table that knew Treecko very well and - unlike Froakie - viewed successful teamwork as an opportunity to show off. "Maybe, but we know it doesn't have Poison Touch and that shifts the odds in our favor." Ryusuke replied to Senri as Hikaru's next Discharge was canceled mid use. Pulling the Pokeball from earlier free of his belt, the blond trainer took a quick look at the ground where the sludge had been sprayed before tossing the orb out onto a clean section of rooftop, the capsule popping open to release Charmander. All it took was one look at the fight to get the Fire type going, flame on his tail flaring with excitement at the prospect of a strong opponent. "Sticky Hold, watch out for Sludge and Poison Gas! Soon as Minun gets Discharge back, clear out!" Ryusuke called out, Treecko glancing back to give a slight nod of acknowledgement to Charmander's arrival. Even better was Hikaru using Encore to lock Grimer into using only Sludge and Thunder Wave to slow it even further, giving Ryusuke's Pokemon their opening. Between the repeated Thunder Waves and Leech Seed continuing to hinder its movement the sludge creature was unable to avoid the glare Treecko gave it, Leer lowering the creature's defenses. Unable to use Harden to compensate due to Hikaru's Encore, the Grimer took the only option available to it and screaming at the Wood Gecko as it slung another mass of purple gunk at the Grass type that was easily avoided as Treecko seemed to blur and all but teleport a short distance to the side with Quick Attack. Moving to take advantage of the distraction, Charmander rushed in, claws glinting as Scratch cut through the weakened sludge, sharp edges gliding through the muck too quickly for Sticky Hold to catch on. Hesitating and unsure of what to do, Froakie would move to reposition on the far side of Grimer as Leech Seed continued to drain its strength. @tag |

TAKE EVERY SINGLE TEAR FOR ALL THE WORLD TO HEAR Admittedly Senri was a little surprised that Ryusuke was reacting so surprised about his PokeDex. His initial thought was that didn't everyone had these? before he remembered that the answer was a no. Well, it seemed like the professor always had a number of them handy, so he had assumed that a number of trainers were getting them. He knew that his brother had one as well, that was for sure. "Hm? Oh, I lived in Sandgem Town. Professor Rowan knows me, so he gave me one when I started my journey." he answered simply. He supposed he had taken the little thing for granted from time to time since it had been with him for, how many, six years now? Thirteen-year-old him felt like a long time ago. He had no idea why Ryusuke didn't have a PokeDex or why he said they were incredibly rare (they didn't seem like it, anyway). Perhaps he grew up someplace that wasn't so well off, but then again that would be rude of him to judge. Anyway, back to the battle at hand, "Poison Touch would have been nasty. Sticky Hold means though that contact moves can potentially trap our Pokemon in the sludge." he commented. But he didn't know that Ryusuke had another Pokemon with him, so when he sent out another Poke Ball to reveal another familiar face, Senri felt pleasantly surprised. A Charmander, huh? This boy was full of surprises--not everyone had three starters of three different types with them. Now the fire type jumped in to attack their opponent relentlessly, though Senri was not quite sure if Scratch was going to do much damage against the muck. Treecko had given a good Leer, so now its defense was lowered a tad. Sticky Hold or no, it would be a good time to use one of Hikaru's other attacks while it was immobilised, even if it meant having to pull him out of the sludge later. "Hikaru, we need to attack it. Can you use Spark?"The Minun grimaced, clearly not liking the idea, but right now was a good opportunity for a hard smacking. "(Yeah, okay, let's do this!)" building up electricity, the small Pokemon executed what he had practiced with his trainer before. First he built up his speed with Quick Attack, using the surfaces that had no sludge on it. He made sure to coat himself in a yellow glow. Eventually, with enough speed, he made sure to run straight to the Grimer, letting out a battle cry as he did so. For a moment, Hikaru wondered if he would go through the sludge, but since it was an actual Pokemon, the Grimer actually was shoved when the Minun slammed into its side. Having been weakened by so many attacks and the ongoing Leech Seed, the poison type let out a pained cry before slinking into the ground, looking more like a pile of sludge than it did before (if that was even possible). Hikaru, unfortunately, couldn't get out in time and got his foot stuck in the sludge. "(I'm stuck!)" he cried, trying to pull himself away but finding no place to properly grip. Senri immediately tried to approach the fallen Pokemon, sidestepping through the sludge in order to reach his partner and pull him out. The smell was even more toxic up close, so as soon as he got the Minun out, he quickly tried to get some distance again, suppressing an urge to barf in the process. "Ugh, terrible..."But at least they won, right? That was a gruelling battle, and surely the commotion must've attracted other people to investigate. Sure enough, Mr. Halan himself bursted out of the door leading to the roof, making a loud noise in disgust at the sight of the Grimer.

the things that you might like don't grow inside of me With Charmander leaping back from Grimer before it could retaliate and on hearing Senri order Minun to use Spark, that seemed to be the end of the battle - with Hikaru slamming into the heavily weakened Pokemon, Grimer would let out a final cry before seeming to melt in on itself, losing the strength to hold its gelatinous body upright as it fainted. Stuck foot deep in the larger Pokemon, all three of Ryusuke's would simply watch on as Senri moved to pull his partner loose, none of them all that willing to get too close to the mess. As Treecko took a moment to stretch and bound back towards Ryusuke - Charmander puffing himself up in satisfaction over the much stronger and now unconscious opponent - the blond would take a moment to recall both the Fire type and a very displeased looking Froakie to their Pokeballs. As he did so, however, a loud noise of disgust would sound from behind Ryusuke as their employer had finally made his way to the room to check on the noise the battle had produced. "What in Arceus's name is that?" Mr. Harlan exclaimed, pausing and stock still as he caught sight of the twisted mass of vines and collapsed sludge, a good portion of the roof coated in slime of matching color and the plant caging the Grimer lightly flaming in one or two places where Hikaru's Spark had burned some of the drier leaves. Judging from Mr. Harlan's expression and the pale color of his skin the Poison type came as a true and most unwelcome surprise to the man - and at a glance Ryusuke pretty much knew that whatever questions he had as to the thing's origin weren't going to be answered by their employer. "Grimer, apparently. No idea how it got there but our Pokemon found it nesting in the building's walls." Ryusuke responded, hands finding their way into his pockets as he turned to face the older man. Mouth gaping in disbelief, the blond didn't exactly blame him given that the trainer was just as confused regarding the Pokemon's origins as he probably was. "G-Grimer, you say...? How..? No, no. If there's one there's bound to be more, but you only found the one...?" Mr. Harlan muttered, glancing to both Senri and Ryusuke before hesitantly taking a step closer to the battlefield to try and get a better look at the creature, or at least as good as he could get without risking the sludge covering the rooftop. It wasn't entirely clear what was going through his head, but the one thing that the blond trainer did know for certain was that the guy was definitely rethinking his take on the problem they'd been hired to fix. "I think we held up our end of the deal. If there's more Grimer down there it's more than we can handle, we barely managed to take this one down with four on one odds. More than that and you're going to have to get a professional to come in and clean up, especially since that Grimer came from somewhere. If you don't take care of the root of the problem it's just going to happen again." Ryusuke continued, eyes still on the older man as Harlan gave a distracted glance back to the two trainers he had hired. While entirely truthful in his assessment, Harlan clearly wasn't thrilled about the idea of potentially having more of the Grimer's kin around, or the possibility of more showing up. He most definitely wasn't keen on the idea of having to spend more money taking care of the problem, either, but given what Grimer were and Lacaille's local laws he was likely going to have to call someone to clean up the mess on the roof anyways. "... right. Right. The sooner this is gone, the better. Both of you, here, your payment. I wish this was all there was to the problem but I can hardly blame you two for where the Grimer decided to nest." Harlan continued, his face screwed up against either the smell or the quickly forming headache that came with realizing the mess he had on his hands now. Regardless, the man would soon produce two envelopes from one of his suit's pockets, gesturing for the pair to approach. "And thank you." Ryusuke said, voice picking up on the last word as he stepped forward to take the envelope from Mr. Harlan before starting to make his way towards the stairs that led to the lower floors. "Feel free to give me a call if you find another job like this, Senri. Assuming I'm close enough I'd be more than up for it." Ryusuke called back over his shoulder, Treecko turning around to give both of the older humans and the remaining Minun a semi-sarcastic salute as the pair left the roof behind them. @tag |

TAKE EVERY SINGLE TEAR FOR ALL THE WORLD TO HEAR Hikaru was not thrilled at all to have sludge clinging to its legs, but no matter how much he tried to scrape it off, he only wound up with more sludge in his hands. Senri had half jokingly, half seriously told him that he wasn't allowed to climb on his shoulder until they washed him. The Minun complained that he was the one that had to slam into the gross Pokemon, and he had to walk? The nerve! But of course, it was mostly in jest, and he hoped that they were near a Pokemon Centre so that he could get a bath. Now that the battle was over, Senri looked around and realised that they made quite a mess. Sludge in all sorts of places, including the Grimer, and leaves too thanks to the Leech Seed. Usually a trainer would consider catching a fainted Pokemon, but there was no way the young man wanted a Grimer on his team, especially this one. Still though, it was quite a mystery on how it got this big. He had a haunting thought that maybe this Grimer was made up of more than one of the species, but such things do not usually happen, right? He found Ryusuke explaining to Mr. Halan what happened. "(I think we found it in some kind of attic.)" the small Pokemon commented. "You mean a storage room? I guess that's a possibility." he replied, though decided that Mr. Halan should be able to take care of it. After all, it was just somewhere in the building. There weren't a lot of places to look. The two approached the other trainer to get a better listen in the conversation. The brown-haired man only nodded when he asked about the pay. Yeah, this was a lot more work than he expected, but at least they were going to get some money from it. He was half tempted to blow a bit for celebration of a job well done, but he figured it was better to save so that he could improve his Pokemon's battle capabilities. Still, he half wondered what would happen to the people here. He hoped that the Grimer problem would be solved soon. How did it even get all the way up here without being noticed? Mr. Halan apologized to Senri for the trouble and also gave him an envelope. "It's alright, thanks. I wish you good luck." he responded in a friendly tone, though it was easy to see that the trainer did not want to be involved in something like this anymore. The smell, after all, was still lingering in the air. He definitely wanted to leave this place as soon as possible. It'd be terrible if the stink decided to cling to him, to which that meant that Hikaru was not the only one taking a bath. He nodded to Ryusuke, just remembering that because of the GPS thing, they now had each other's contact. "Sure. Maybe I can even call you for a battle once I build up my team." he said with a grin. "(Bye bye! See you again!)" the Minun cheered with a wave. After Ryusuke left, Senri figured it was time for him to go as well. "Come on, Hikaru, let's go wash this off."[EXIT] none ✖ finish!
