Senri is used to dressing for cold weather since there's a lot of it in the Sinnoh region, thus his outfit usually has a jacket or coat somewhere in there. He's fine with plain, comfortable clothing, usually carrying a backpack with his belongings. His belt is where he keeps the Poke Balls of his current team. He has a number of other outfits that he switches around from time to time, but he doesn't pay too much heed to whether the colors work well or something similar. Sometimes, his clothes can be worse for wear since he's hands-on with training his Pokemon.
PERSONALITY
Senri is a friendly, determined trainer that loves a good battle, whether he wins or loses. From a young age, he was set in becoming an Ace in battling and be recognized for it. It is no wonder that as soon as he started his journey, all of his efforts went into training to beat the gyms and entering the Sinnoh League. If one gets him to talk about battling, he could go on and on with strategies, combos, and the current trends of powerful Pokemon frequently appearing on the field.
He's a generic good/decent guy: open and easy to talk to, ready to assist if ever the need arises, and loves seeing smiles. He has gotten himself into perilous situations often as a result of trying to help, where he could've gotten killed if it weren't for skill and sheer luck. He'll even go against the law to help someone if he can pull it off. Once he sets his mind to something, it's hard to change his mind. He can be impulsive in that aspect, but he's considerably mature when handling other people, especially of younger age. He treats both Pokemon and people equally and would hate to see any get hurt for no good reason at all.
Unfortunately, Senri has not quite learned from his past experiences with the Sinnoh League and still has trouble taking care of himself. He may forget to eat, sleep properly, or even properly treat a wound if he's extremely focused on something. He also has problems expressing deeper feelings that reside within him, particularly of his past choices and his skill as a trainer. Was that time just a fluke? Would he ever get to the Top 8 again? He tries not to let those feelings get to him.
BACKGROUND
- Senri was born and raised in Sandgem Town with his younger brother Riku. Both of his parents worked in the nearby city of Jublife, but because of their busy schedules, the brothers were mainly left to the care of their grandparents. From a young age, Senri was enamored with Pokemon, more so because he could actually understand what they were saying. He was surprised to learn that this wasn't the norm, but when he told his grandparents about it, they warned him not to tell everyone about it. After all, there were terrible people out there who could use his ability for nefarious purposes. With that, Senri decided to keep it a secret except for his family and close friends.
- After finishing school, Senri started his journey at the age of thirteen with Chimchar. Thanks to his ability and natural talent for battling, he quickly went through the gyms and made his way to the Sinnoh League in a little under a year. By this time he had a full-powered team of Sinnoh Pokemon, including his trusty Infernape. One could even say that his quick climb to the top was insanely lucky since a few of his battles were very close calls.
- With his family watching in the audience, Senri managed to enter into the Top 8, facing some of the toughest trainers the League had to offer. But in the end, he never got to battle with any of them. He had neglected to take care of himself during the League proper and ended up fainting from severe exhaustion. In the days that followed, it turned out that his health had significantly decreased since the start of his journey, and he was forced to stay in the hospital to recuperate. It wouldn't be for another week or two until he was discharged (mainly because of his parents, otherwise he would've left at first notice).
- Angry about the whole ordeal, he decided that he wanted to leave Sinnoh for a while for a change of pace and a chance for him to be alone. He left all of his Pokemon with Professor Rowan after explaining that he needed to go and ignored their pleas of going with him. It's not like I'm going to be gone forever, he told them. He felt ashamed that he had let his whole team down -- they didn't even lose, it was Senri's own pride that made them forfeit the League. With the money he saved from his journey and help from his parents, he left Sinnoh for Kalos to study Mega Evolution, something little known to Sinnoh folk.
- In Kalos, he was able to rent a Pokemon in order to catch a Flabebe that would accompany him in this new region. For the next few years, he would refrain from catching any other Pokemon and challenge any of the gyms. This didn't mean that he had no other Pokemon besides Flabebe, though--he made some friends along the way that decided to stick with him. In Kalos he works part-time at a Battle Institute and a nearby Pokemon school to pay for his cost of living. In the middle of that murky period of time, he would visit Sinnoh biannually and at one point do a round trip around Unova. He would write frequently to his family, most especially his brother, but a part of him felt like he couldn't face them after just deciding to leave.
- Eventually his brother, who was now old enough to journey on his own, met him in Kalos. They had a mock battle, with Riku winning since his team had been more properly trained. That was alright, though, since Senri felt a tingle of familiarity and contentment in that battle. He just might go back to challenging the League again, he thought to himself, but it had to be somewhere else that he hadn't been to yet. As if by fate, there was a new ship route to a region called Stellara, which not only showed cases of Mega Evolution but of Z-moves and other strange things as well. Excited, Senri figured that it was about time to try aiming for his old dream once again. His Kalos team, with their permission, were left in the Battle Insititute except for a young Minun that was gifted to him as an egg. Only time would tell if he would be successful this time...
STARTER
NAME — Hikaru
LEVEL — Lv 5
SPECIES — Minun
TYPE — Electric
EGG GROUP — Fairy
ABILITY — Minus
HELD ITEM — None
GENDER — Male
HEIGHT — 1'04'' ft
WEIGHT — 9.3 lbs
MOVE LIST — Discharge (Egg), Nuzzle (1), Play Nice (1), Thunder Wave (1), Quick Attack (1), Helping Hand (4)
PERSONALITY — Hikaru was hatched from an egg given to Senri while he was in Kalos. Extremely clingy and hyperactive, this Minun loves to jump, cheer, and shower sparks indiscriminately. This has caused some problems before, especially to other Pokemon with fur or water types that do not appreciate a sudden, painful jolt at all. Still, Hikaru means well and is usually seen hanging onto Senri's shoulder or right beside him while he battles. The only times that he stops moving is when he's sleeping or eating. Hikaru is also rather naive, being less than a year old, but he is also open to making friends with all sorts of Pokemon, big or small. Still, don't underestimate the little fella, since he was bred from strong parents that passed him a move that he can't even properly control yet.
