While his demeanor appears cold and stern at first glance it’s more of a result of his upbringing by dragon type specialists and growing around dragons where showing vulnerability was a no go among the prideful creatures.

Crying was not okay almost as breaking eye contact from something larger then you were among the many lessons he learned while growing up. Despite his cool front he presents Katsuo beneath it all is actually quite the fiery and emotional person but just likes taking things more internally and the emotions rarely show on his face.

Maybe due to his natural intelligence and talents he can also be quite prideful in his skills and appear arrogant and while not prone to trash talking he is not above throwing dismissive looks and utilizing sarcasm if he feels someone is beneath his level. Though despite that he is not above showing respect when it’s due, in his own way at least.

He is honest to a point and makes an effort to always say what he thinks on a matter and not lie even if it’s supposedly for the better.

Katsuo also deeply cherish his family, his team and those few that he accepts as friends. he is rather closer to the chest with matters about family and friends. Much like his parents he likes to show his appreciation and affection in a roundabout way. Sometimes it’s so roundabout that his friends wouldn’t even detect it as him acting any different then himself but it’s there.




Born to Nakamura Sai and Nakamura Ken a duo of dragon type specialist Katsuo was raised in a stern but equally as affectionate household. Owning a ranch that specialized in breeding and taking care of dragon type Pokémon meant that his formative years were largely spent around and interacting with them. This was why his parents made sure to drill into him how to act and other important behavior tips and skills Katsuo would need in order to be safe as soon as he was able to understand.

As a result, and maybe a little because after so long they had started picking up some of the quirks of the Pokémon they looked after both of his parent pulled no punches and demanded the best. Due to that the mushy part of Katsuo that wanted to cry when he fell or was scolded was quickly barricaded and closed off. That not to say that he wasn’t loved quite the contrary though it would take years before he realized the roundabout way his parents showed their affection for him.

He attended a local school that prepared future trainers but never did managed to make any connection beyond acquaintances due to just being too rough around the edges, too prideful and condescending at times. And when the opportunity came for him to start his journey at ten Katsuo decided against it and instead remained at the family ranch to further his knowledge and help around with the family business.

It was in the next few years that he realized that his parents not only raised Dragon types but they also cared for ones abandoned by trainers that couldn’t handle them or were just deemed too dangerous by the league to be left without supervision. It was dangerous and demanding work that also made Katsuo understand where his parents came from and why they had been strict when he had been younger.

Still even with this revelation the thought of striking out and travelling to explore and also challenge the league nagged at the back of his head. He of course had discussed the idea with his parents and surprisingly enough to him they were quite supportive of the idea, mentioning the fires of youth and how they had met on their own respective journey. They had even offered to supply him with a starter if he wished so.

Seeing no reason to turn down the offer Katsuo had agreed but it seemed fate had different plans for him. A few days later after the talk with his parents while he was taking care of some of the baby Pokémon one of the more levelheaded Axew alerted him of some commotion happening at the edges of the ranch. Following along the small dragon the black-haired boy came upon the sight of a Ralts being surrounded by bunch of inquisitive Gible.

Clearly terrified and not knowing that they didn’t mean any harm it shot a confusion among them, agitating the small gathering of dragon Pokémon. Thankfully for the physic type Katsuo managed to disperse them with practiced ease. Surprisingly enough as he came to check up on her for injuries the Ralts didn’t bolt and from then as they say the rest was history. Two months later and now eighteen Katsuo and his starter now named Hikari found themselves on a boat travelling to the Stellara region.

PERSONALITY — Hikari is a shy creature by nature and is easily startled by thing which usually end up hiding behind the leg of Katsuo for protection. She also has the habit of wanting to be picked up that can be slightly attributed to her trainer spoiling her a bit since he never refuses to do so even if he would verbally deny it. Despite her general attitude she can be a fierce and determined battler in an effort to no disappoint Katsuo even she knows due to her empathic abilities that it can’t happen. In fac this only encourages her to change and be more like trainer in attitude.
