Chelsea is a confident, sexy young woman with a bubbly and outgoing personality. Before making her home in Baltis City, she spent most of her time partying, shopping and exploring more pleasurable pastimes. Eventually this led to her parents getting fed up with her hedonistic lifestyle and temporarily removing her from her inheritance until she had made something of herself. While she still seeks to let loose and have fun, her position as Gym Leader somewhat disallowed her from doing so, but she could be quite irresponsible regarding even that, such as closing her Gym for the day when she had drank too much the night prior or was too preoccupied with something else to accept Gym battles. Part of this was her ever-shifting priorities and extreme forgetfulness. Chelsea isn't terribly bright as noted by her peers, drifting off into thought or misplacing things. Her spoiled, privileged upbringing let her breeze through school thanks to her family's wealth and her looks were far more reliable on getting what she wanted than her brain ever was. This reliance on her appearance led the blonde to becoming somewhat vain and self-centered regarding her beauty. Any feelings of jealousy that aroused in others weren't intended by her but instead "just a natural part of being gorgeous".

She could be ditsy and shallow but never cruel. Perhaps a part of that had to do with a lack of cunning, in fact, she actually felt motherly and protective over those she considered friends. Sharing beauty tips, taking them out for a day at Irra Beach and even giving well-intended but poor advice was the norm within her social circle. Some male trainers she battled with she would even take out on dates, though these dates would be on an entirely platonic level. In her eyes, she was doing these young men a favor but was ignorant of the fact she was breaking their hearts when she let them down. To her this was social conditioning in which she was preparing them for later encounters with women, likely of their own age. She's also somewhat of a flirt and tease, as evidenced by these encounters. Chelsea speaks in a "valley-girl" drawl, and had a habit of ending her sentences with an up-speak as if she was asking a question.


Chelsea isn't native to the Stellara Region, originally hailing from Castelia City of the Unova Region. The Hamiltons were quite wealthy, being descendants from a long line of businessmen on her father's side. Much of her early childhood transpired there though to the current day her memories of the wide, concrete streets and tall buildings remain somewhat of a blur. She didn't develop her love of the beach and soaking up the sun until her family moved to Slateport City of the Hoenn Region when business became too tough in Unova, almost driving the Hamiltons into bankruptcy. The city was familiar enough in density but offered a tropical ocean view. Here she spent much of her older childhood into her adolescence, and caught her first Pokémon, a Tentacool along Route 109. She lost many battles across the long stretch of the beach as Trainers traveled up and into the city. Eventually she was enlisted in becoming a member of the local Seashore Club, a club for beach-going Trainers to offer a challenge for the prize of six, free cans of Soda Pop. When her father found new success in his migrated business, likely as a result of Slateport's smaller size and thus lack of competition, Chelsea believed her life was set. At age 18, she graduated from school and began partying heavily with friends from the Seashore Club, the seaside lifestyle and her upbringing leaving her lazy and uninspired. She began drinking heavily, engaging in frivolous activities and spending large amounts of her father's money impulsively, usually without his consent.

The final straw is when, at age 20, she and a group of rowdy friends crashed the family's only yacht into a group of rocks on Route 108. The group were stranded for about an hour before being rescued by PokéRangers who had been called in, Chelsea herself almost drowning from the route's strong currents and her intoxication. Her parents were rightly fed up, and had her move in with her maternal aunt who lived in the nearby region of Stellara. She was a woman of little wealth and her sister thought not having access to money and luxury would urge Chelsea to find her own success and stop leeching off of them. Initially the heiress to her family's fortune, she had been temporarily cut off from it until she was able to fully consider herself independent. If Chelsea disagreed to the move, she would be permanently cut off. Disgruntled, Chelsea obliged but was not a fan of Baltis City, as it was often cloudy and rainy and lacked any sort of shoreline for her to lounge on. With only so much money given to her for the move, Chelsea began finding odd jobs if she wanted more money to spend than her aunt had to offer. These at first were menial jobs like as a clerk at a PokéCenter, or running errands around town. It became a common sight to see the tanned blonde bicycling through the rain, multiple parcels hanging from the handlebars.

Her first exposure to the public of Stellara came when she vacationed to the city of Vega in hopes to spend much of the money she earned working in Baltis on a spree and to of course enjoy the nearby Irra Beach which reminded her greatly of home. A Pokémon Battle tournament was being held on Irra Beach during her first visit, and since battling was pretty much the only useful talent she possessed, she took part as a cash prize was being boasted of whoever triumphed to the top three. Many of the trainers who participated were youngsters or generally inexperienced so after hours of battling and spectating, Chelsea came out on top. As she battled, the entire event was being captured on live T.V., so her face (and other assets) and name were being broadcasted across Stellara. She became somewhat of a local celebrity, even being given the moniker "Professional Beach Babe", as she contested in many of the beauty contests held on Irra Beach with her tanned, toned body plastered on many posters around Vega City.

When Stellara's Pokémon League contacted Chelsea about the position of Baltis City Gym Leader, she was more than ecstatic. Not only was it incredibly convenient, being close by to her aunt's home, but she would be well on to her way of impressing her parents as the role of Gym Leader was considered very prestigious and honorable. The League's reasoning was that a young, energetic and decent competitor would make for an ideal, early challenger. Whether she would hold on to it by being responsible and professional had yet to be seen.

PERSONALITY — As her nickname implies, Sugar the Seel is a sweetheart who was originally won as a prize in one of Vega City's many Game Corners. The Game Corner's host proclaimed that Seels are a rare breed of Pokémon in Stellara, as the only area within the region that would allow them to thrive are the chilly Gurious Mountains which even then lack bodies of water. Adamant on winning the Seel, Chelsea used her ample "charm" to woo an older man into winning the prize for her, a regular patron to the Game Corner known for his ability to rig a particular machine to which he assures is just luck.

Sugar clings to Chelsea as if she were her own mother, evidence that she's quite a young Seel. Incredibly curious, she'd throw herself at Chelsea (and strangers) even though she weighed about the same as a heavy, adult male human thanks to the thick fat she possesses to warm herself through frigid temperatures. She especially loved to tease small children by chasing them through the water whenever she accompanied Chelsea to Irra Beach (which was always) showing that she has a naughty side which she used to test her trainer's patience.
