Hypocritical is the best way to describe JJ’s personality. The girl hates whenever someone lies to her, but she has difficulty being honest with herself and others. When it comes to social awareness, she would rank near the bottom of the list, often coming off as unfriendly due to her tendency to fidget and stare before talking. Her greatest strength is also her greatest weakness, her stubbornness makes it difficult for her to back down once she set her mind to something. It has caused quite a few of her relationships to grow sour, especially when others want to change her mind. Not to say that it’s impossible, there were plenty of times she was forced to back down.

When it comes to her relationship with others, it is rather simple. If you want respect you have to give it. She doesn’t take well to insults thrown her way by strangers and more than likely respond with a glare or a challenge of her own. Now if one were to disrespect someone she loves, then they’re asking for a fight alright. Many times, her action comes off as immature, which is true, but she does have a limit to how childish she can be. There is a degree of understanding the bad behavior of children after all. Though most people would find that her bark is worse than her bite.

Though when it comes to people she cares for, like her wife. She can be a rather doting and loving companion, more concerned for others than her own reputation. Besides, when she says she would do something, the girl means it, going out of her way to get a job done. Though caring, she knows better to be clingy, happy to enjoy the moment for what is happening in the now.


Born Seraphina Hughes, the girl lived a completely normal lifestyle. She had two loving and caring parents who wanted the best for their child’s future. They did this by controlling her life to the minute, structure brings order and expectations must be met at each step. In the beginning, it was fine, she was a stupid child, after all, she couldn’t really compare her life to other children. While she was free from being compared to siblings, it didn’t stop her parents from doing so with other children. The pestering increased, alongside the workload as the years went on.

The girl’s only escape was the companionship she found with a Nincada. Her personality made it difficult for her to get along with other children around her age. She felt more at ease alongside the Nincada then any humans, preferring the company of Pokemon over people. There was definite disapproval from her parents in her choice of companion. They wanted their little girl to like cuter Pokemon, ones that provided an image of what they wanted her to be.

The girl could only take so much pressure, the combination of work and expectation being far too much for her. Seraphina finally began to put her foot down, saying ‘no’ to her parents and voicing her complaints. The disagreements were quick to turn into fighting, the life-changing one, ended with her being kicked out of the house. Due to her sheltered upbringing, she had difficulty adjusting to the new lifestyle, which involved plenty of beatings and toughening up.

It was during the life on the streets that she met her master who taught her about auras. She wasn’t a talented individual, but she had a stubbornness that kept her training in the field. If one were to ask, she was good enough, but she never stopped improving herself. In the end, a girl must find work, Seraphina, now known as JJ around the streets, worked hard to build a reputation of being dependable. From running errands to fighting in tussles, she met challenges head-on until the job is done or she had to pull away.

JJ would admit to making many bad decisions in her life, perhaps one of the biggest was allying herself with Team Crux. She hates some of the things the organization does, but she was in it too deep at this point to simply say she quit. While running jobs on the side, some of her more desperate work caused her to work with Crux, either for a similar goal or as a job. At first, most of the jobs seemed harmless enough, minor lawbreaking, but when it became worse, JJ was in no position to say no. Work involved using every resource at your disposal, it meant having to use your friends.

Life had a turning point for the better when JJ met the love of her life. The first encounters were embarrassing, to say the least, for her, it was love at first sight sort of crap you read in stories. She tried her best to deny this, but her emotions won out at the end. The poor lovestruck girl did her best to impress to the person she fell in love with, often making a buffoon out of herself. Her trademark stubbornness seemed to help her for once. Whether by luck, awkwardness, or maybe even some charm, the two became lovers.

While the two went steady, JJ became positive that she wanted out of Team Crux. Unfortunately, that was impossible, there was no way she was going to endanger Tala in any of her mess. The most she could do was avoid as many unnecessary missions as possible, but that caused a hit to her income. There is always work to be done for Crux, but finding average normal work was a different matter. While she can find the occasional odd job here and then, JJ still ends up getting most of her work from Crux.

It was to her surprise when she was proposed to. The girl’s inability to be honest with herself and fear of being distanced by her lover made her unable to propose. She took the opportunity as soon as it was presented, practically tackling the woman in a hug, but in the end, the results were the same. She still messes up, but at least there was someone to accept her. Now JJ enjoys the travels and time spent together, though she has to accept doing dirty work when there is a call for it.

PERSONALITY — Playful and energetic, the Nincada loves to have fun at the expense of her trainer at times. Lotus is a determined spirit that lives by the wind or whatever new trouble JJ drags her into. Sometimes she ends up being more responsible than her trainer, reminding the woman of prior engagements and duties she needs to perform. When it comes to challenges, she tackles them head-on like her trainer, hoping to use force before strategy. She knows her trainer well enough that she ends up recklessly charging forward, misinterpreting the cleverer strategies that her partner might have come up with. She truly cares though, for her partner, even if the world goes against JJ, at least she will have Lotus on her side
