CAPTURE 003: Blowing Some Steam

"(What are you guys looking at?)" the Squirtle asked as he continued to casually float on the surface of the pond. He was just having a nice, relaxing day when all of a sudden three Pokemon appeared by the edge of the pool. He had no idea what they were, but it didn't look like they were going to attack him. It was a weird bunch though, so he guessed that they were a from a trainer. Speak of the devil when a young man showed up soon after. "(And I'm not a "something", I'm a Squirtle.)"

"Hey, a Squirtle. That's pretty lucky." Lou commented as he squatted a little, putting his hands on his knees for support. "Are you too busy enjoying yourself, or would you mind a battle?"

"(Mmmm...)" he flipped himself over so that his shell would be mainly submerged while his hands had taken to a thinking pose. "(I guess a battle wouldn't hurt.)" with slightly more effort he flipped himself right side up again before fully submerging himself. In a few seconds, he stood up close to the edge of the pool and pulled himself out. "(Okay, so how's this gonna go down?)"

"(Are you going to choose Daisy?)" Al asked, hovering nearby his trainer's shoulder, "(She's technically the most practical choice.)"

"Nah, I'll let Hemlock do this one. He hasn't battled as much as Daisy yet." and somewhere at the back, Nugget sighed in relief.

"(Awesome, I'm gonna battle!)" the Skorupi beamed, taking his position a couple paces from the Squirtle. "(You're going down, buddy!)"

"(Yeah, sure, whatever.)" the water type sharpened his stance before launching a gush of water at Hemlock, but since it was going at a straight line, the Skorupi easily dodged it with jumping. "Use Knock Off!" as he let gravity do the work, the Skorupi readied his claw as it was surrounded by small black sparks. It made contact, but Squirtle deftly used his tail to mitigate the damage, pushing his opponent back just enough for him to jump as well and hit Hemlock with a Tackle.

That sent Hemlock flying back, but much like his battle with Daisy, that wasn't going to stop him! He quickly got up and shook it off.
"(Not bad!)" Lou was thinking the same thing, "Poison Sting!" the Skorupi opened his mouth and sent out a flurry of purple darts at Squirtle, and since there were so many of them, he got overwhelmed and could do nothing but use his hands in an attempt to block it. A number of them bounced off his shell, but some others hit his skin, and he indeed felt the sting. "(Ow.)" he decided that it would be better to take the offensive. Quickly, the Squirtle went on all fours as he rushed towards Hemlock with the intention of a hard Tail Whip. But when he swung his blue tail at his opponent, it appeared that his trainer predicted it. "Use Bite!"

Hemlock clamped down right before it hit him. "Throw him and then use Knock Off! while he didn't actually launch him high into the air, the force was enough to stun Squirtle for a moment, so he couldn't block the powerful Knock Off. "(Ouuuch. This isn't fun anymore.)" he whined, not bothering to get up anymore.

"(Squirtle doesn't want to fight anymore.)" Al translated, so Lou decided to call Hemlock back. He then approached the fallen Pokemon who more of lost the motivation to battle rather than being badly injured. "I guess you're kind of low on motivation, huh." he commented as he pulled out his Poke Ball, "Want to join us?"

"(Eh, whatever...)"

"I guess I'll take that as a yes?" he then pressed the button of the Poke Ball on Squirtle's head, hoping for a successful capture.

Squirtle here is a very "go with the flow" type Pokemon, which may make him look lazy, but that's only part of his personality. He doesn't like putting too much effort into decisions and prefers other people (or circumstances) to decide for him. In a way, he finds trainer life rather appealing that way. He doesn't mind fighting since it's all just sport anyway, and being given commands is a lot easier than thinking it up for himself. Unfortunately, this makes him extremely apathetic and hardly self-motivated to do anything for himself, so without someone to tell him to shape up, he's just going to laze about, eat, and sleep probably. His focus isn't exactly the best either, so constant attention is required to get him to do things efficiently. Nevertheless, he does like impressing others when the situation presents itself. He may be a sloth but he doesn't want to feel entirely useless either.
