PERSONALITY
Dracul is very much jolly old man. Most would call him jovial;a smile is never very far from his face and deep belly laughter is common for him. In some ways, he fits the mold of the stereotypical happy grandpa: well meaning and friendly, and interested in doing right by the next generation. In that way, Dracul could be described as paternal to the young folks who cross his path. He has plenty of advice to offer and he means well when he offers it, even if it he has trouble seeing sometimes that he should not or it is not helpful.
In that vein, Dracul is stubborn, close minded, and perhaps a touch arrogant:he considers his hard won wisdom to be superior to that of the youth. And when confronted with the uncouth or wayward youths of the world, a short and fiery temper reveals itself: Dracul has a habit of snapping at people when he is annoyed with them, though old age has rendered him mellow and his temper is- mostly- reserved for youngin's who he thinks need a lesson, and that is primarily what he considers to be his 'purpose'. Dracul is quite content, with little ambition of his own any more outside of doing the best he can for the sake of his duties. Instead, he just wants to do a little good for the next generations before his passing.
BACKGROUND
Dracul has lived a long life, one that he is more than happy to discuss. First, one has to go back to the beginning. Dracul was born in Blackthorn City, Johto, the famous home of the Dragon Tamers, trainers who specialize in the powerful Dragon types. Which perhaps decided his destiny from the very beginning. Like many of the trainers in Blackthorn, Dracul cut his teeth on training the powerful and willful Dragon type Pokemon from the Dragon's Den. His early childhood was spent training Pokemon and having boyhood adventures in the mostly untamed areas surrounding Blackthorn, instilling early strength and an appreciation for the more natural things in him from the beginning.
As he grew into young adulthood, Dracul undertook the traditional Pokemon journey that many youngsters do. Departing from Blackthorn with his loyal Pokemon at his side, Dracul traveled around Johto, challenging the gyms and various trials that populated the region, though he is quick to note that the league and other such challenges were much less well-organized and legitimate during these times, and, as such, is not quite sure how many of them can rightfully be recognized. Regardless, after a few years on the road, Dracul's journey was cut short due to the Kanto and Johto region finding themselves involved in an armed conflict, the first of a few that would occasionally crop up over the decades before the world found itself in the current era of peace it has been in. Dracul much prefers it this way.
After his brief stint in that conflict, his only such participation, shying away from others that would come up in the future, partially due to his slowly advancing age and his own newly found, deep seated moral opposition to conflict motivated by impure and darkened emotions. All in all, Dracul prefers not to speak on that era in his life and quickly skips over when recounting his life to the unfortunate children who he suckers into hearing it.
Instead, Dracul focuses on the domestic events that follow. Returning to Blackthorn, Dracul meets his wife, Morgan, and they quickly marry and start a family as Dracul settles back into Blackthorn, taking up a position at the Dragon's Den, which allows him to continue honing his craft, as well as offering advice to the up and coming trainers who were on their own journeys like he had once been. Over time, Dracul becomes a pillar of the community. Well respected, Dracul grows his family. Soon, he and Morgan have children: two sons and a daughter.
The years pass more quickly and soon his own children are grown and out adventuring on their own, and before he knows it, they are settling down themselves and his hair is going grey. However, Dracul is happy- and proud- of the life he has built with the love of his life, Morgan. He loves his family, which soon grows to include grandchildren- very much and he settles extremely well into the role of family patriarch.
However, one thing cannot be avoid as time marches on: death, and as Dracul grows into an elder, his wife does as well, though her twilight years are cut short. Suddenly, Morgan dies, leaving Dracul a widower. The shock and grief that comes with this forces Dracul into a depression and Dracul drives himself deeper into his work in the Dragon's Den to compensate for the grief. This occurred five years ago. Only recently has Dracul emerged from the shell of years of begging from his surviving family. And, perhaps due to a moment of clarity, Dracul responds by heeding their cries and emerging from his time, his hair whiter and his beard longer than ever. However, Dracul needs to get away from Blackthorn. It is time, he decides, to retire. His family, overjoyed to hear that, quickly return to Blackthorn and spend some time with them. One of his grandchildren, a trainer in their own right, even brings him a surprise: a Goomy, an odd-little dragon from Kalos that she is certain Dracul will just absolutely love. And for a time, this suits him with his family about him. but as things returned to normalcy, a certain darkness returns, as everything reminds him of his wife. As much as it pained him, Dracul needs out of Blackthorn if he is really going to enjoy his retirement.
Though things can't be quite so simple. After some research, Dracul decides on a place to retire to so that he can ride out the rest of his life: Shula Town. In many ways, it captures his ideals about Blackthorn and the simpler world of past Johto, but without all the baggage. Quickly, Dracul moves there and settles in, buying a modest home there. And one day, out of sheer curiosity, he visits the local gym, which he has learned specializes in Dragon type Pokemon. However, much to his chagrin and shock, the gym is empty and currently shuttered. After some investigation, Dracul finds himself petitioning to the League itself to reopen the gym. He finds some success, and after talking with League officials who are quite impressed with his track record and deep knowledge of Dragon types, offer to install him as the Trial Gym Leader for Shula Town.
Dracul accepts, which brings us to the present day, with Dracul currently immersing himself in the day to day operations of his newly opened gym, while enjoying the company of Gelato the Goomy.

PERSONALITY —Gelato the Goomy is a bit of an odd duck. Always happy, this little pile of goo seems to be the embodiment of naivete. Some might call Gelato oblivious, as the Goomy often slugs about with no regard for others, often wandering off to look at something particularly interesting, such as a particularly shiny coin it has spotted from a distance. On occasion, Goomy is often known to engage in dangerous activities, motivated more by blind trust than bravery, such as when it attempts to eat or make off with its newest object of interest. It is also a rather playful- and peaceful Pokemon- being ill-suited for battle outside of play fighting.
