At his core, Jican is a very upbeat and enthusiastic person. He tries his best to be friendly to those he meets, and is still a nice person to those who aren't nice themselves. He has unparalleled determination, a burning will to complete whatever task he has to. Unfortunately though, this determination to do the right thing can be flipped rather easily. This determination is usually shown via his belief that his pokemon, no matter how weak, can defeat any enemy. However, this can turn into him doing stupid stuff like putting his Venipede against a Level 1,000,000 pokemon if he believed that he stood a chance.
 
He isn't the sharpest tool in the shed either. Jican is EXTREMELY gullible. His visions of good and evil could be flipped with a single sentence. This gullibility leads to Jican having some rather strange fears. For example, he once read about an urban legend on the internet stating that a Hydregion morph had eaten two hikers in the Vaisera Mountains. Of course, it turned out to be a fake story, but Jican didn't know that. As a result, he has a crippling fear of morphs. 

While it's true that Jican doesn't have much of a dark side, it still exists. He gets frustrated when people insult him or his friends, to the point where he may actually get violent himself. He also has anxiety and hopes that other people think the best of him.

It's a trend within the Fuun family that every member of it is met with terrible misfortune. Nobody truly knows why, but the story is that a Pokemon used Curse on an ancestor of the Fuun family, which was passed on from generation to generation. Of course, this was probably not true, but this was the story that Jican believed. 

Jican was born in Shaula Town and lived with his mother and father. That all changed when his parents broke up for reasons unknown to him. He moved with his Mom to Lacaille City, where he has spent the past ten years of his life. He knows the city like the back of his hand, and is very supportive of it's eco-friendly atmosphere. 

One fateful day, A 12-year old Jican and his mother decided to take a small trip to Irra Beach for a day. The blue-haired boy was excited, hoping to catch his first ever pokemon along the way. His mother didn't allow him to bring any pokeballs with him, though. She claimed that with the luck they had, he'd need a thousand to catch even a Caterpie. Jican was saddened, but he did manage to sneak one Pokeball in. 

The only way to Irra Beach from their house was through a section of Kaxyl Forest, one of the largest forests in the entire Region. About midway through their trek, Jican's mother encountered one of her friends from high school. The two chatted for hours. Jican, bored as could be, began to wander through the forest. Before he knew it, he realized that he might have gone a bit too far out into the woods. Lost and afraid, the boy called for help. Nobody came, except for a tiny Venipede who had previously been sleeping. 

The Venipede opened its eyes and approached Jican, while staying a couple feet away. This was the first time Jican had ever interacted with any Pokemon. Jican had his back to a tree, scared of the bug. He didn't have a reason to because of the bug's incredibly low level, but Jican didn't know that. Realizing that Jican wasn't a threat, the Venipede curled up and continued to sleep. They both were silent. Jican slowly reached for the pokeball in his pocket as he remembered the words of his mother. But he didn't care about the odds. He threw the Pokeball as hard as he could at the Venipede, and after a VERY suspenseful couple of seconds, he had caught his first pokemon.

And so goes the story of the first time luck has ever been in favor of Jican Fuun.

PERSONALITY — If you thought Snorlax was the laziest pokemon, then you are sorely mistaken. Venus is an incredibly lazy bug, and also Jican's best companion. If he's not loafing around the house, he's taking a nap or doing some other unproductive activity. He's in a constant state of sleepiness, which is a stark contrast to Jican's hyperactivity. Although Jican loves Venus with every square inch of his heart, Venus's laziness presents a huge problem during battle. Because of his will to not do anything, Venus will randomly ignore Jican's requests to use attacks. If pushed hard enough, Venus will even stop fighting all together. 

Regardless, Venus does have a heart underneath his exoskeleton. Even though he doesn't show it, he actually likes Jican as a friend and Trainer, despite not being able to relate with his sense of determination. He's even willing to protect Jican, so long as he picks a fight that he can win with relative ease.
