PERSONALITY
Kono has a caring personality and likes to help people out, hating evil and wrong people. He wishes the world could be a less evil place, and wants to set out and do it, making people care about there pokemon and friends. He wants to give to his community and the people he knows, trying to spread goodness to everyone. He’s watched people battle all his life and has tried to be a strategist, using his knowledge of pokemon so he can strategize on the fly but since he’s new to being a pokemon trainer, he’s still not used to it and screws up. He's a great optimist, not only seeing the bad but the good in everything.
He doesn't like seeing people mistreat there pokemon and won't stand for it. He'd even fight a trainer if it meant showing them there wrong ways. Kono loves his pokemon and would lay down his life for them if need be, not wanting them to be too badly hurt. In his hometown, fighting types are some of the main pokemon there, he has developed an affinity for them, able to easily use them and preferably likes them more than other types, due to his expertise in the typing as well as it being the typing of his starter, though, he doesn't discriminate and shows all pokemon love, no matter who or what they are.

BACKGROUND
Kono started in his hometown, a simple child, excited to watch people battle as much as he could, being fascinated with pokemon. He loved them, growing anxious every year as he waited for his tenth birthday to finally receive his pokemon. However, he caught an unknown illness and wasn’t able to do anything for 3 years, finally getting better due to constant soaking in the baths of his hometown.
He was saddened as he missed all the starter pokemon that the local man had to offer, and due to this, he’d have to wait for more to arrive, which could take months. Kono was saddened and waited, but a month later, he found a Riolu in the wild, injured heavily, to which, Kono brought him back to his village, wanting to help the pokemon.
He helped heal the Riolu which took a few weeks and he bonded with it, growing attached to it and the Riolu growing attached to him, happy Kono saved her, eventually trusting him enough to communicate with him telepathically with him, finally getting better and healing.
Kono decided to make her his starter and name her Anubis since she had the look of a jackal to him. He pretty much lets Anubis hang out of his pokeball, not because Anubis hates it, but he wants his pokemon to be able to run around and not be confined to a pokeball.
One of his flaws is his fear of ghosts and psychics. He’s always had incredibly bad luck with them, such as being trapped in a psychic from a psychic typed; being targeted with dream eater from Gengar's and other ghost types; being put under hypnosis many times, which led him to be terrified of the two types. A fear has followed him throughout his life leading him to be queasy and uneasy around them, disliking all them.
He did odd jobs, staying in his hometown and living there with no real purpose, his dream of being a trainer still there but not an active thing for a while. For years he watched pokemon matches whenever possible and taking notes, not really training Anubis, she was more of his companion at the time, until he heard wind of Team Crux and their evil doings, sparking the good inside him.
He wasn’t a strong trainer, he didn’t train Riolu, and was afraid to let her battle, but he knew he had to do something and decided even though he started 10 years late, it was better late than never.

Anubis is a more of a carefree Pokemon, as she likes to laze around but still enjoys a good fight. She loves to tease Kono about certain situations and tease other people and pokemon if she can. She can be cynical and analytical, loving to mess with everyone with anything she can. She is a bit pompous and loves her fur, not liking to get it dirty or scuffed and will get angry if it happens. She is, however, ferociously loyal and hates to see Kono in pain and hurt, psychically and emotionally. Anubis has a bit of an ego, thinking herself above other pokemon and looks down upon them, thinking there weaker than her in every way; she can, however, push that inside in a time of need, but it would begrudgingly.
