"Maybe we should've tried somewhere else?"
The young man's sheepish voice was addressed to a Popplio who was doing flips in the air out of the hot springs water. Diva's species had evolved in tropical waters, sure, but she at least appeared to be enjoying herself. Her trainer, Darcy, was in a grey cardigan and white shorts, his feet wedged into a snug pair of black hiking boots. The pink t-shirt he wore was a similar shade as the Popplio's nose, which he suddenly found in his face when she flipped into his arms. He should've been used to the seal pup's antics by then, but the sudden ball of wet fur in his arms barked happily and any annoyance he felt for his partner evaporated at the sight of her smile.
(C'mon Papa. HAVE FUN!) The Popplio barked excitedly, even if her trainer couldn't understand a word of her speech; she was aware that he wasn't a Pokemon either, but he'd been there when she hatched so that made him her Papa, right? He chuckled lightly at her enthusiasm.
"Don't forget Diva, we're here to find more friends." Darcy gasped between laughs as the Popplio jutted her nose into his face. Her expression soured lightly at the thought of sharing her Papa with anyone, let alone another Pokemon. Reading her sudden change of face, Darcy pouted back, "C'mon Diva, they'll love your performances too."
(Oh....) The Popplio said, before giving a small sigh of contentment, (I suppose I DO need more members in my fan club.)
Judging from her change of demeanor and how she hopped from his arms, the trainer gave a small sigh. Having hatched her himself, he knew how to play to Diva's ego. A part of him wondered if it was the right thing to do, but the thought slipped from his mind as he scanned the springs and the nearby brush. They needed to find a new friend that day. He'd made his way to Elysia Falls based on some posts on Trainers websites about the high concentration of fairy type Pokemon. If he was going to be a Fairy Type master, Darcy reckoned, he might need to actually start training one. Diva was a peach, but until she reached her final form she wasn't technically a fairy type yet.

The heat coming from the springs, coupled with the soaking wet shirt from Diva's earlier hug, was a little unpleasant to Darcy. More unpleasant? The appearance of the Throh meditating on a small island in one of the nearby pools. Many fighting types lacked a certain cute appeal that fairies did, but this one? It took the proverbial cake. At the Day-Care he'd never experienced Throh, but he'd had his fill of fighting types like Machop and Hitmonlee. It didn't help matters that the Throh glared over at the trainer and Popplio when they emerged from a patch of brush. Darcy's cheeks stained red rapidly.
"You know, I think we're going to go over here." He said with a small laugh before ducking away. Let someone else deal with the red karate-master. He had cuter fish to fry.

"All we need is a bit of luck and we'll be golden." Darcy said with a slightly uncertain grin, more for his own benefit than for Diva's. This little expedition was going swimmingly, judging by the way the sea-lion kept dipping into the water and back out again for fun. On one of her dives, she popped back out with a Mudkip in tow who yipped a single time before diving back into the warm, frothy murk of some mud.
(Sorry!) The Popplio barked backwards as she landed by her trainer. Darcy gave a small sigh before moving on and offered a silent prayer they'd find what they were looking for soon. He hadn't remembered to pack Diva's lunch, and the Popplio could be a real pain when she got hungry.

As they approached a cluster of flowers at the edge of a water pool from the spring, Darcy stopped short, signaling his Popplio to slow. Fluttering above some of the flowers was a Cutiefly, a bug and fairy type Pokemon he'd only read about. Seeing the tiny and adorable little insect in person made him practically squeal in delight. "Looks like we've found our new friend." Darcy whispered to Diva, who gave a small eye roll.
(That little thing? Please!) The Popplio's body language was dismissive at best, (I'm pretty sure I could sneeze and knock it out of the sky.)
Darcy shushed his Popplio as the pair approached, doing his best to figure out just how to catch the little bee.

I'mma go for the CATCH on this Cutiefly, but would like a personality generated for it first for me to write to. Also it's gonna be a shield dust, and male.

Absorb, Fairy WindDespite his species’s name being Cutiefly, Cutiefly wants to be anything but cute. In his mind, he is not some small, innocent, cutesy looking fairy bug that flutters about sprinkling fairy dust everywhere. No, Cutiefly is a tough guy, and by that, he embodies the stereotype of the “tough guy”. He constantly looks mean; he always tries to intimidate others, and he does whatever he can to remind others how utterly badass he is. Even though it seems like it, Cutiefly isn’t all talk; to be fair, he is a good battler, and he has the potential to become better. However, his arrogance and unwillingness to admit that he’s wrong hold him back, and he can be quite the difficult Pokemon to deal with. He can change, but it will definitely take time before that happens. |

Their approach wasn't quite as quiet as Darcy had hoped, considering how the bee-fly Pokemon veered from the flowers and stared at them.
(The fuck you pansies want?) The Cutiefly shouted, his little eyes almost permanently drawn downwards in an aggressive glare.
All Darcy heard was a couple chirps of the fairy's name, but Diva barked back. (Excuse me?)
(You heard me. The. Fuck. You. Want?) The Cutiefly replied, buzzing closer. Diva slid forward, her own eyes narrowing slightly.
Darcy hadn't anticipated the Cutiefly's behavior, or how it approached the pair, but when he finally got to see the expression on it's face he at least had an inkling of the exchange going on. Working at the Day-Care, he'd seen his share of Pokemon with a certain level of attitude and it appeared the Cutiefly had attitude in spades. In the back of his mind, Darcy could only begrudgingly laugh. Of all the times to find another difficult Pokemon, while Diva was still acting like a spoiled brat.
Before he could call out an attack, Diva shot a Water Gun directly at the Cutiefly after he buzzed some other sort of insult at her. The little bug evaded it swiftly before responding by vibrating his wings rapidly, releasing a gust of sparkling pixie dust that struck her across the body and shoved her back slightly. The battle was on, it appeared.
"Di-Diva! Listen to me!" Darcy stuttered out before narrowing his eyes slightly. "Use Aqua Ring!"
The Popplio barked in agreement before a helix of water droplets began floating around her. In a blow for blow exchange, Darcy hoped he could count on the passive recovery of the Aqua Ring to keep Diva in the fight and wear down the Cutiefly.
(You think that shit's gonna work? You bitches ain't the only ones who can heal up!) The Cutiefly roared before flitting above the Popplio. His little proboscis began to glow green before snaking a vine of energy outwards and landing a super effective Absorb on the Popplio.
"Diva, Water Gun!" Darcy shouted, watching the Popplio wince from the last attack. Aqua Ring may keep her healthy, but he wasn't sure if she could go blow for blow against the Cutiefly if it kept using Absorb. The sea lion shot a powerful torrent of water at the bee fly, which spouted into the air and landed on the ground with an angry thud. His wings were flickering oddly, and Darcy noticed the disgruntled look on his face. Apparently getting his wings wet had slowed the Cutiefly down some, judging by the way it expended a Fairy Wind just to dry them. "Keep at it while he's distracted!"
(Sneaky sons of bitches, I'll show-)
The Cutiefly was muttering to himself when he looked up and found himself blasted by another Water Gun. He was sputtering at that point and more than a little woozy, so imagine the bee fly's surprise when just as he started to gather his strength to launch an Absorb, he'd be whacked by a softball sized Pokeball larger than him and sucked into it!
